Pasticceria Marchesi is a high end pastry shop owned by Prada and this particular location in Milan is in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II shopping center atop the Prada store. The interior exudes sophistication, luxury and refinement. I stopped by for breakfast to sample their offerings. Cappuccino (€5 = $5.50 USD) - The cappuccinos here are smooth with a strong coffee flavor. They taste amazing and are perfectly executed. Maritozzo (€7 = $7.75 USD) - This came highly recommended by my server and is a brioche bun with a cream filling, topped with pistachio and a chocolate. It was a unique pastry that I hadn't tried before and popular in Milan. Omelet & smoked salmon - (€18 = $20 USD) - Light and fluffy the omelet was good, and complemented the smoked salmon. Although like everything here, it was over priced. Overall, the restaurant is beautiful and expect to pay for it if you dine in. To my surprise, I found most of the locals having their cappuccinos and other baked goods at the large stand up coffee bar at the entrance, which had no seating. Prices there for the cappuccino are much more reasonable (€2.20 = $2.40 USD).

Pasticceria Marchesi was named one of the best bakeries in the world. When Mink saw that in an article, she immediately told me to add them to our itinerary. We were going to Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and Duomo di Milano so we decided to go to the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II's location. It is diagonal from Prada in the center. You can also look for Louis Vuitton and Dior as it's across from those stores but upstairs. You could walk the stairs but they do have an elevator. When you enter, you'll be greeted by a hostess. It's best to have reservations if you want a table. We opted for the table tops and standing since we didn't have reservations. They tell you to walk around to see what you like then walk back to the cashier to order. There are mainly two pastry stations, a bar area and the seating area. After deciding on what we wanted, we went back to the cashier as instructed. He was extremely friendly and was very helpful in ordering. Once you pay and have your receipt, you go to the first pastry counter and the staff member there gets all your pastries. If you ordered a sandwich, they make it fresh from their kitchen and someone brings it out to you. Don't ask me how they know but they know which order goes to who. I was quite impressed. You bring the receipt to the bar area for your drinks. They do come around to collect plates and cups but you can also put the empty cups by the bar area when you're done. Everything was good and they are definitely worth checking out.

More than a patisserie, an experience! Elevated service, elegant staff, chic atmosphere, and a great coffee and sweets. This comes at a price; €15 the pastry! Experiencing the Italian exquisite lifestyle in a the historic Milan mall; priceless!

This cafe might seem intimidating but it's so chill, I come every trip to Milano and the prices are even cheaper than my cafeteria at the hospital work at, so don't be nervous. I don't like waiting so when I come I stand at the bar(it's more local that way too) the staff are nice and friendly and accommodating(not snobby or rude at all)and the bar man is so hot! I get maritozi most years because I go for winter fashion week and it's available during that season. The coffee is also really good! The tartlet was excellent.

The was the first coffee shop recommended to us by our Italian photographer. It is located on the 2nd floor of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II mall, above one of the Prada stores. To enter, you need to take the stairs or elevator at the observatory entrance, next to Prada. This coffee shop overlooks the Galleria, which can be fun to people watch. They offer a quick, cheaper counter service where you stand at the standing tables, or you can have sit down service, which is a little more pricey. The cappuccinos here are amazing, I don't know if it's Italian cappuccinos or Marchesi that makes it so great! It contains more milk than an American cappuccino and tastes much smoother. The pastries are also very delicious. We've tried a whole grain plain croissant, regular plain croissant, chocolate croissant (Nutella filling), and a pistachio bun. The croissants have a slight lemon flavor to it which makes it unique but super tasty. We loved this place so much, we even came back the next day! Overall I highly recommend Marchesi, the drinks and pastries via counter service is affordable and great value.

We stopped by this beautiful place to cool down, grab a drink and a snack and we are so glad we did. This place was lovely! It's located right inside the galleria, it was beautiful inside and out. Staff was very friendly and kind, even though they deal with a million tourists a day, they treated everyone with respect. There were so many lovely treats we would have loved to try but with the heat outside, we didn't have much of an appetite. I will definitely be returning if I ever come back to Milan again.

Cute cafe to visit for a shopping break. A bit overpriced but that is to be expected for such a highly trafficked area. Cappuccino was delicious and would order again.

Pasticceria Marchesi is on the second floor (above Prada) of the world's first shopping mall, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. If you order from the front and stand at a table, the coffee items are much cheaper than if sitting and dining in! This is a really cool coffee shop and has a lot of pastries to try as well. Since it's located in an exclusive and luxurious mall with all high end shops, it has an elevated feel to it. +Croissant for 2,50€ - This croissant is not as flakey or buttery as I am used to, but it had a slight lemon flavor to it. It was the most unique croissant I have ever had... and I loved it. - 5/5 +Cappuccino for 2,20€ - I guess I have never had a quality cappuccino in my life because this was incredibly smooth. Highly recommended (before 11 am for breakfast)! Apparently, Italians will look down on you if you order a cappuccino any later than this. - 5/5 I would highly recommend checking out Pasticceria Marchesi!

It was such a cute little place that sits over Prada with a nice view of the Galleria! The service was very nice and the food was delicious and fresh. The Chocolate/Raspberry cake was OUT OF THIS WORLD! Was a bit over priced but it's a nice experience overall, expect a bit of a wait (30-45 min) if you don't have a reservation.

You can walk up to the counter and order to go or eat at the table top or make reservations to dine in. We made reservations a day before to sit and have lunch, everyone was welcoming our servers helped us pick just what we wanted for lunch. The cafe was trendy and you could people watch from the window. The food was delicious, a perfect stop to relax in between shopping and site seeing.

You can't go wrong with Marchesi, an institution in Milan. Every single pastry I tried over the years was worth it. Today I tried a pear chocolate tart, which was fantastic and a single serving sbrisolona, a crumbly almondy cake, exactly as I like it, crunchy and not sandy, as many other ones I tried. Absolute perfection. Marocchino was delicious too, served in a normal espresso cup, rather than the classic glass, but it was probably the best marocchino I had up until now. The only wrinkle in my opinion is the cashier/order organization, if you don't sit at a table. You have to get your receipt first and then order, but the pastry cases are very far away, very disorganized and not friendly. Typical mess at the espresso counter, no line, you have to elbow your way and shout your order. Despite that it's a 5*, quality is top. Highly recommended!

The place is very crowded and quite upscale. The best way is to order and eat while standing. The cappuccino is very good and delicious sweet.

Oh this place is awesome!! We were by here walking around and I saw the sign and new I was going for some tasty sweet. So we went upstairs to get seated. FYI the price on the menu downstairs is different than the price at the table. To go vs. seated. I would certainly go back again. We tried many different sweets and they were all delicious so you can't go wrong with anything. Just do it!!

We were able to get a table right away even though it was pretty crowded on a Saturday morning. I wanted to look at the pastries and order there, but the whole process was a little chatoic. I told the woman behind the counter that I was sitting down at a table, and she told me she would hand it to my waiter. After waiting a bit, our waiter had to come back and ask what I ordered, and it seemed like he wasn't able to find it. Eventually he did come back with the correct order, and he was very apologetic about it. We haven't had the best service in Italy, but our server here was amazing! He was so kind and made the experience that much better. As for the pastries, I got the croissant with vanilla cream and the raspberry maritozzo. I wasn't expecting to like the maritozzo because I don't usually like cream puffs, but this one was so different from the ones I've had in the US! The cream was so light and fluffy, and the brioche bread was the perfect accompaniment. The raspberry jam added a nice tart flavor to it as well. Overall, this place gets a little crowded sometimes, but it's a great place to stop by when you're shopping!

Apparently a popular face on Food Television overseas, the store itself tight yet clean with a substantial variety of choices available, it was after perusing several Cakes, Tarts, Caramels and Chocolates as oddly shaped as the Kama Sutra that selections were made to take elsewhere for consumption, a trio of chocolates showing a thin shell that breaks cleanly and dissolves smooth around a number of unique fillings from which Olive Oil and Balsamic were chosen, though "Wood," "Speck and Pepper," and Pomodoro were oddly enticing. Unable to resist the elegant array of Tarts, a cost of €5,25 each actually a bargain all things considered, it was with the Chocolate Pumpkin Pie that first bites were enjoyed in a somewhat savage way without utensils, the Pepitas and Salt Crystals adding crunch to an otherwise creamy base while the Pear, Pinenut, and Chocolate Ganache version played off a similar ideas with the fruit's sweetness helping to mellow the rich Chocolate center. Taking a very different approach with item three, a little bit of flour folded in to 72% Cocoa beneath a thinly sliced layer of Figs, suffice it to say that there may be no better "Brownie" anywhere than the one Ernst Knam is selling, the base achieving a rare balance of light texture with intense flavor and little more than the glazed fruit adding sweetness.
