This Venchi tasted and looks a lot like the ones I've tried in NYC, so would recommend a visit if you are at the Tysons mall. Please read the descriptions below or check out my Instagram page for more fun content. - Pistachio [GET]: This is my classic flavor to get when I'm craving for gelatos. The gelato is creamy, thick and rich, yet smooth to eat, premium quality for sure. You can pick to have the cup or cone dipped with chocolate and nuts for that extra texture and flavor! It was delicious, but the only downside is that I wished the nutty flavor was stronger; I definitely had very strong pistachio flavor gelatos before. I love the dark chocolate coin on the top. I think it is at least 70%+ cocoa, and it really balanced well with the sweet gelato. Ambiance: 4/5 - The shop is small with no indoor seating available, and it is located right across from Macy's on a corner. There's a huge chocolate wall and lots of cute decor. Line is long when I get there, but luckily it moves fast. At the entrance, there's a QR code for you to scan to see the menu in advance. Price: 4/5 - I got a baby scoop of pistachio flavor, but surprisingly the portion was bigger than expected, but I still finished the whole thing. It is quite pricey though, coming in at around $7 after taxes. If you never had Venchi before, it is worth trying it out once or twice. Service: 4/5 - The staffs here were all so nice and friendly. We were greeted as soon as we got to the counter, and the cashier patiently explaining the different types of cups and cones available with options to add premium toppings / crust etc. added too. BLUF: A chain from Italy that serves freshly made gelatos and other premium sweet treats. I highly recommend the tiramisu or the cappuccino flavors, but if you want something on the lighter side, then go for the mascarpone and fig option. Gelatos are high-quality with great texture. They also sell chocolate bars, crepes, hot chocolate, and coffee. read more

I waited until I had been twice before posting this review to see if my experience the first time was a one off or a bug in the system. Turns out that this is a feature, not a bug and not a good one either. For all my diary free friends, the good: the dairy free gelato is really good. The bad, the flavor I wanted to eat both times was cross contaminated because they placed it between dairy FULL gelato and seemed perturbed that I would ask them to clear the remains of other flavors that had clearly dropped in the almond. The service is not customer oriented. You pay up front (it's not cheap) and then you tell someone else what you want again. Both times the person scooping seemed put out that I had explained that I had a dairy allergy and asked that they remove the obvious containment from the almond. Both times they did. The first time it elicited an audible sigh. The first time my husband and I got one napkin each, though the second time we did get a few more. The d/f almond gelato is amazing and my husband loved the d/f chocolate and full moo juice vanilla (though it was fascinating that when they mixed the flavors there was definitely cross contamination of the paddles.) No where to sit in the tiny shop (or in the mall nearby.) Really expensive for the amount you get. But a delicious treat once in a while. read more

Right above Laderach (Swiss chocolate store) is this Italian shop filled with truffles and gelato! The chocolates are different and unique. If you tasted Lindt or Godiva, you can tell one is more creamier/smoother or richer than the other. I haven't tasted Italian chocolate before but thank God I have. Their tiramisu truffle made my mouth water and made me take a couple more. I have been set on that assortment but I think I'll try their other ones soon. As far as their gelato goes, if you're not allergic to nuts, get the dipped cone with nuts, it gives that nice touch and crunch with the smooth gelato. Just hurry up and get your scoop! read more

Service was good, price was expensive. Gelato was similar to the general quality in the US. Nothing special and certainly doesn't have a distinct flavor like Gelato in Italy. Funny because this is supposed to be an Italian franchise that opened in the US. I suspect the reason that it cant match the quality in Italy is because they don't have access to similar quality ingredients. Will not return and my hopeless dream of having a Gelato in the US thay taste like the ones I've had when I visit Italy continues. read more

This is one small shop. It's in the corner in front of Macys. Right in the middle of the mall. It's on the upper floor. The place is small but tons of people want to try this place. You would likely see a line outside the door just because there is no room on the inside. I came here on a Saturday and it was a pretty significant line. I first tried this place in New York so I wanted some nostalgia. The offerings are nice and its the better option in the mall. I wouldn't say it's the best in the area, but if you got a sweet craving here, I would test it out. It's flashy enough to catch your eye and you'll be enticed to try it. read more

The server here told us that we can only try the flavors after purchasing and that one scoop is "not that big". We'll, turns out that a large size is almost half a pint of ice cream, which is also unnecessarily sweet, but at that point we already paid. I saw the line and folks around the mall with a cone, so I thought I'd check it out. The line does move a little slow and the shop is small, but the staff is nice and tries to move things along as quickly as possible. The gelato is amazing. I ordered a dipped cone. Im not usually a fan of hazelnut but the hazelnut pieces on the outside of the cone were amazing and added some nice texture to the cone. The strawberry was bursting with flavor and the hazelnut pieces in the brutto bruono (sp) was a nice little surprise and pop of flavor. When I saw the line and the crowd around this place, I knew I had to try it! Fairly small store, I believe they opened just recently and they specialize in gelato and specialty chocolates. The smell of the store is unbelievable! Gelato was definitely a bit pricey, but I would say it was worth it ~ so creamy and smooth. I got their stracciatella (sweet cream chocolate whip) gelato in a cup coated with hazelnut inside. If I'm being honest though, it was a great experience, but definitely something I would indulge in only occasionally, considering the price. read more

I usually love Venchi at other locations, but the service at this one is ATROCIOUS. They expected us to order and pay before even seeing the flavors. When we got to see the flavors, they started helping the ppl behind us, ignored us standing right there, and instead spoke amongst themselves about how we needed to pay before tasting. Only when we asked why they weren't helping us did they finally tell us we needed to order and pay before tasting! What if we only like one flavor and want one scoop? What if we like multiple flavors so want more than one?? This is ridiculous. Super rude, uncommunicative, and do not care about their customers. The angled entrance creates a welcoming environment in the Tysons location. Ice cream portions are good too, and very rich. Rating from the few times I've stopped by - always left satisfied. My absolute favorite crepe shop in Tysons right now! Admittedly I've visited way too much over the past couple weeks, but how can you turn away from Italian sweet crepes? Venchi is located on the second floor of the mall. I walked past the location in NYC but never got to try it. This time, the line was still pretty long, about a 15-minute wait on a weekend. While we waited, the staff gave out free pieces of chocolate to people in line. I tried the dark chocolate ice cream and hazelnut ice cream on a waffle cone. The staff lets your try out the flavors if you ask. They have a decent selection of flavors available that are more twists of the standards such as chocolate, coffee, vanilla, sorbets, etc. The ice cream itself is a little sweeter than I like. I prefer gelato from Dolcezza or Pitango. Venchi is definitely better than Baked Bear or Coldstone. I would visit again to try out their other options. read more

Cutest little store with the nicest staff, tucked into a corner across from Macy's at Tysons Corner Center. My sister had Venchi chocolates on a trip to Italy, and got obsessed and got us hooked ever since. Then we moved to the area, and found this store! The chocolates are amazing, and the gelato is equally good. We live close by so come here way too often - favorite gelatos are Cremino and Baciodidama, and the Strawberry sorbet.
