I cannot rate Venchi from a tasters perspective, lol. Except for a tiny pinch of my sister's pistachio since for some reason I can't eat sugar before bed. My Mum, my Sis and I visited this beautiful gelato spot in Florence Italy. We were there 3 days and we came here twice. There is always a line to get to this gelato buy it goes by fast. (Actually in Rome, Nice, Florence, and Paris if there is a line in front of you let one person stand in line and let the others go find out what they are standing in line for and stay if you want it or leave if you don't. This probably all of Europe but those were the places we went. It's actually a fantastic idea). Anyways, my sister enjoyed her caramel and pistachio ice cream in a cone. A lot of patrons would get their order and sit on the stairs while enjoying their ice cream. It was hot so if you walk with it lick your ice cream quickly. Nice place, delicious gelato!

***UPDATE*** I went back a couple days later and ordered a grande gelato in a cup. In my previous review I mentioned how they don't remember/communicate the size gelato you ordered. Well, they asked me for my receipt, and I didn't see them ask anyone else for theirs, either. It felt that they assumed I may have been lying about ordering a large size. The lady acted as though she would not proceed with taking my flavor choices until she saw that receipt. I pulled it out of my coat pocket and THEN she proceeded. That's so backwards-- I've already paid! Good gelato but there's plenty other great gelato places that will take my order, ask for my flavor choices, and THEN take my payment. Moving on!

Great ice cream! There is a consistent of long lines, but the employees work together to be as fast as possible. My wife and I tried it in Venice, then in Firenze, and lastly at Rome. Their ice cream consists of fresh milk, fruit, Piedmont Hazelnuts and, their chocolate! The flavors I recommend are Nougatine, and the Cremino and Cuor di Cacao dark chocolate. They have air conditioning, which is a savior over the summer!

A recommended gelato place by our tour guide. Location is so perfect- corner street of the town center. The place was packed when we walked in. They said it has the best gelato in town. I came here to prove them if they were right. I had more than the normal scoops a person could take. Anyway, how often do I get gelato from Italy. My pistachio mixed with chocolate gelato were delicious. I kept it plain, no fancy toppings. Very creamy which I liked. Not that sweet but tasteful and full of flavor. I guess they were right. Service was fast. Pricing is reasonable. The place is neat and clean. They have more than gelato.

The gelato was so good! I came here twice during my visit of Florence, two nights in a row. 3.2€ for two scoops, 4€ for three. I forgot the prices of others. The chocolate flavors were really good, probably because they're a chocolate shop, too. I really liked my chocolate with hazelnut (I forgot the name). They open till late, so it's ideal if you want a nice gelato after walking all day. Bring your gelato to Piazza della Signoria and walk around while savoring it. When you're treating your taste buds, the Piazza also offers live music and numerous sculptures for the pleasure of your eyes as well. Such a nice experience. I will definitely come back if I visit the city again.

Mediocre gelato. All the good places were closed.

Yum! We had fresh cream, custard cream, and vanilla with chocolate chunks! Under 7 euros for small dish and cone.

Ice cream is pretty decent. Service on the other hand is awful, especially the girl in the gelato section

Don't waste your time with this place. Decent products and ambiance, but very rude servers.

CHOCOLATE! If you…read morelove chocolate or anything sweet, the annual chocolate festival in Firenze is almost a dream come true! Every year for a week - typically Valentine's Day week - Firenze will host an open market that features chocolate artisans that sell delicious and tempting sweets. Hot chocolate, chocolate fruits, chocolate of every sort - Every booth has an eye-popping amount of different kind of chocolate that you may not even know existed! This is also where I discover this heavenly chocolate called "cremino veneziano" (Venetian cream) which is a multi-layer chocolate that quickly melts in your hand if you don't pop it in your mouth soon and literally melts instantly in your mouth. Oh why don't they make this in the US... In case you can't get enough sweets though, the festival also includes a chocolate cooking show and the booths also sell other non-chocolate sweets like €1 macaron! Sadly (and maybe fortunately), many chocolate items here are extremely pricey, although that's to be expected as artisan goods. For example, my new love "cremino veneziano" is a costly €4.5 for a mere 100 grams... Nonetheless, even if you don't intend to splurge on sweets, definitely swing by here to at least feast your eyes upon the sweets! You can even get a sample or two like how I met my cremino veneziano. While I would not intentionally fly into Firenze for this festival, I would recommend making a detour to witness sweetness if you are in Italy during this time! --- DOVE? WHERE? Typically, this festival is held in Piazza Santa Maria Novella, the church piazza in front of the train station. However, check the website or ask your hotel staff. We nearly missed the festival because it was moved in the last minute to Piazza della Santissima Annunziata, the northern piazza that is a bit out of the way from the typical tourist route. --- tl;dr version 1) CHOCOLATE! 2) Various sorts of chocolate and sweets to feast your eyes (and even sample) 3) Pricey so don't expect to going home in bags without splurging 4) Recommended detour if you're already in Italy
