We arrived at Med Gyro & Shawarma at 11:15. We were the only customers. We ordered a Gyro Bowl, a Chicken Kebab Bowl, a Gyro Wrap, a Chicken Shawarma Wrap, a side of hummus and a side of baba ganoush to go. Both of us tried the bowls there. The man behind the counter was standoffish. Gyro Bowl had a small salad with sour pickled red cabbage, lettuce shreds, a few red onions, and diced tomatoes. There was a bed of turmeric basmati rice and on top was thinly sliced crisped gyro neat. The gyro meat was sliced too thin for me. I don't mind crust on the meat but when put on the flattop sliced thin the meat is tough like jerky. The tzatziki did not have the garlic and dill seasoning I am familiar with. I tasted mint. 3/5 The Chicken Bowl was identical to the Gyro Bowl except with pieces of chicken. The chicken was cooked perfectly and delicious. It was served with tzatziki. 5/5 Chicken Shawarma Wrap was filled with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes and a few slices of red onion with a small amount of chicken shawarma meat. The man was arguing with someone on the phone and burned the wrap he was warming up. I don't really know if he was arguing as I could not understand the language. His tone and emphasis with words made me think he was arguing. I tasted burnt wrap and didn't enjoy the shawarma. 2/5 The Gyro Wrap was filled with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and a few slices of red onion. The Gyro meat wasn't as crispy and the taste came through. 4/5 The hummus was meh. Very bland with chickpea chunks. 2/5 The baba ganoush was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed it. 5/5 The food was ok. I wouldn't drive 2 hours back to eat the foods again. My taste buds look for authentic Gyros and Shawarma and these flavors are not what I am accustomed to. For locals who have never traveled overseas to try the authentic flavors, the foods here might be good but for seasoned travelers they miss the mark. 3/5

Everything is meant to be share style on the menu, and so we opted to do a few starting dips with pita bread as well as some salads and two main dishes. The pita bread was honestly the highlight of my night! It was made fresh and it was so simple, but so delectable on its own, even without the hummus, which was also delicious. I think this is one of the best places you can go for good appetizers. I felt that the meat was good, but not as stand out as the hummus and the asparagus salad. I would love to come back for the pita bread alone. The service was exceptional, with an attentive and friendly staff.

Decided to give it another try and probably won't go back. I think I'll give 4 stars because it's probably some people's favorite place but I'd probably rank it lower. Was good but honestly boring. I can get the same meal but better up the street on Gallatin with more decor, great staff, and more reasonable prices. It was pretty slow even with only a few tables taken on a week night. The explanation of the menu items wasn't clear even after asking (I don't think the staff member was fully knowledgeable on the ingredients) so we just picked what sounded okay and went with it.

I'll be back. Service here was great. The gentleman was so willing to describe everything on the menu. He even recommended quite a few options for us to try. When you try new places, you have to order a little of everything to get an actual feel for the restaurant. My advice is to order a little bit of this and a little bit of that; you won't be displeased. Take in all of the culture. This place has a lot of character from the art on the walls to the minor decor on the tables. See photos for everything ordered! I can't even begin to name them all.

This dish came with rice and the rice is THE BOMB! don't pass on the rice.... sooooo good. Staff were all very nice and friendly This was my first time there.... but I was told they just finished a remodel- the place looks great. Pretty large venue so good for groups. Parking is easy - no worries there. Would I go back? YES, there is more to try.

The restaurant is well established and doesn't rely on frills and gimmicks to attract their clientele. Lots of brown and neutrals dominate the aesthetic - cultural decor and an occasional tv can be spotted along the walls. All the kebabs are well seasoned and full of flavor. The meat is both crispy and juicy. The complimentary pita is served warm and is pillowy soft. Some of my favorite hidden gems on this menu are on the appetizer list. Don't skip over the chefs appetizer with creamy cheese, olives, herbs and ground walnuts! I also love the light but flavorful white bean soup with tomato broth and generous chunks of chicken.

They maintain an impressively enormous menu with just about every style of kabob on the planet! They also serve lamb shanks, gyros, and falafel among other options. The lamb is extraordinarily tender and pretty tasty, although the flavor isn't nearly as good as the best I've eaten in the Middle East. But I have unfairly high standards as a world traveler. The beef dishes are very good too, but again, not the best I've had. The service is fantastic with welcoming employees who make you feel right at home. House of Kabob is a worthy stop if you love Persian cuisine.
