If I could give this place zero stars I would. My son bought a vehicle from one of the mechanics here. For it only to work well for a few months. Engine failed not even a full year. We took it in, waited almost a month before the engine was replaced. Or so we thought it was. Same issues happening again and we just picked up the truck 3 weeks ago. I took it to another shop, more reputable, and was told what the issues were. Needless to say this is going to be a battle with this place. Update 1/15/26 NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE, CROOKS!!! NEVER EVER take your vehicle to Velasquez Mufflers & Brakes on Cass & Scott. Velasquez Performance Exhaust Chava and Alex are not reputable mechanics. We bought my son's truck from Alex a year ago and have had nothing but issues. Took it back to them several times, supposedly they replaced the engine (out $2k plus $$$) still having issues. Chava's daughter refuses to give us a receipt saying they already gave one to my dad but he was only given a simple slip stating how much he paid, not detailing the work that was supposedly done. It won't pass the emissions so unable to get his sticker. My son worked hard to buy his first vehicle only to be screwed over by these men. They have gave my dad the run around, avoided his calls, Chava even has his daughter lying for him and with the attitude she has idk why people still go to them. I wanted to wait to say something before but my dad gave them the benefit of the doubt. They have completely broke that trust and faith. They have had my son's truck since last Tuesday and he has kept giving my dad excuse after excuse as to why he has not done anything. My son goes back to school this weekend and needs his vehicle back so now I'm forced to pay someone else to fix what they messed up. I am urging people to NOT use this location at all for any services because I guarantee you will need additional work done because they have no clue what they are doing or lie to get extra money out of you. Its a shame they feel its ok to act shady towards my dad who put his trust in them. What makes me more upset is it be our own gente doing us dirty. I hope they know God watches all and knows all. My post isn't about complaining, I want people to be aware who they are dealing with when it comes to this fraudulent company. read more

Absolutely terrible service went to the one on 53 to have an estimate done on my vehicle was told that they had to get back to me. Never got back to me then they called me and told me to come in was told that they couldn't get the parts but check out the one on Cass Street went to the one on Cass Street. They said they have to find out if they can get the parts. Absolutely ridiculous with the runaround. Don't even attempt to go to this business. read more

I have been a happy customer for several years. Their service and prices are most reasonable. I drive older cars, and have never had a problem that they could not take care of, along with installing new mufflers and doing regular oil changes. Today, Alex located a faulty relay switch, ordered and installed the part, and I was on my way! read more

My first visit today. I had a cracked exhaust pipe before the cat. Did a beautiful fix with welded pipe and added a hanger to help exhaust last longer. Did it fast and very reasonable. They have a new customer and well be highly recommended. read more

DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS!!! We took our car to get an alignment at Velasquez Muffler Shop on Cass Street. Not only did we wait hours for the alignment, but they insisted we pay cash. Since it was only $50, we obliged. I should have known - they insist on cash because they don't offer refunds under any circumstances. So after they were finished with our car, we drove off. The alignment was still off. So we called and they did not have time to redo the alignment that day. They said we could come back another day. So we made an appt to come back a second time, drove all the way across town to get there and again waited hours for our alignment. After we took off the second time, we found that the alignment was still way off. I couldn't believe it. We called back and they told us to bring it back. We told them we had already wasted enough time and gas driving out there and waiting hours, only for the problem not to be fixed. We just wanted a refund. They told us they do not give refunds. So we went back in person, with the intention of getting a refund. We figured if we talked to to a manger and showed him how the alignment was still off, then he would have to refund us. When we got there the manager told us that he could not obtain a refund without permission from the owner. He called the owner who refused to provide us with a refund. They simply offered to attempt to correct the alignment again. The manager said he would oversee the alignment himself. After waiting hours for a 3rd time, we finally got our car back. The manager told us that the reason the car was still not aligning properly was because we had some other parts that needed to be replaced. Without replacing those, the alignment would always be off. I asked why we were not told that from the beginning, so we could have had those parts replaced prior to having the alignment performed. He had no answer. We again insisted on a refund, as we were not planning on coming back to this place, even after we had the damaged parts replaced. They would not budge. We ended up taking car to sears who informed us promptly BEFORE doing the alignment, that we needed to replace several parts or the alignment would be a waste of time. They replaced the parts and then did the alignment for $80. Car ran perfect after that. Also, one of the times I was waiting in their lobby, I heard another customer complaining about how they did not fix his car like they promised. WARNING TO EVERYONE - you'll waste more money than you'll save going to Velasquez Mufflers! They are crooks with poor customer service who do not stand behind their work! read more

By far one of the worst Auto Shops in the will county area. Horrible customer service, receptionist does not know how to speak to customers whether it be Via phone or in person. Employees are very unprofessional, & not very well educated in repairing cars. I went in for an oil change and they messed up my engine completely. Many other Auto Shop's have stated Velasquez Muffler shops are very low quality, and take advantage of female customers. I got an alignment and it made my steering worse and it took three hours I do not recommend going here

I've been a returning customer for over 4 years to the store located on 1600 W. Jefferson St. but decided to give this one on Cass a try. Prices are low so they will attract any customer but unless you do not value your money, I'd suggest going elsewhere. I had a right hub bearing replaced a year ago and noticed the same rubbing noise a few months ago. I was past my year warranty so they would not replace it. I was in no rush to bring it back at first because I thought there was no way it was the same one causing noise and that it was the other that was due for replacement. A full inspection at Sears Auto informed it was the right hub. Now there is NO WAY that a hub bearing that is brand new should go bad within 4000 miles of use when the original lasted over 119,000 miles! They said both needed to be replaced but insisted I'd pay....Now let me ask you this employees of Velasquez....If you've paid $375 for work to be done that would only last a year, would you expect to keep paying $375 to replace the same part every year? That's ABSURD!!! No proffesionalism whatsoever! You do not stand by your work!(which is subpar garbage)Be wise and I advise to pay a little more for a certified mechanic to protect your vehicle and more importantly your safety. read more
