Took our puppy in for unknown pain. Was very impressed with the difference in layout and process. Everything was done in the open and I got to stay with him the entire time. This was beyond measure in both of our comfort levels. He would have been freaking out to be separated from me for the examination and treatment. I've never needed a emergency veterinary clinic before. I can honestly tell everyone who's ever in need of one that this clinic -and everyone there-is absolutely amazing. My little cat was shot by some evil person in my neighborhood (who I'm actively hunting BTW). Luckily the pellet/bb/bullet didn't hit any vital organs and he's going to be okay. They got him back there immediately and ran an x-ray and took great care of the little guy. I hope I don't ever need to take him back but if ever I do, I have them saved in my favorites. Don't go to the one in Cinco Ranch. We came in with a large cage with a feral cat who was in bad condition. They were doing a shift change and there were at least 12 vets and techs there. NO ONE offered to help us carry in this large cage and they could see we were elderly (75). Then we sat in the room crying about our feral cat while they were laughing out in the exam area. Very rude and uncaring atmosphere. The vet wanted us to put the injured feral cat back out in the 20 degree weather rather than gently put him to sleep and out of his misery. My friend warned us not to go there because they were rude and uncaring with her cat. We just came from our regular Vet who actually examined the feral cat and said he would not have made it one more night outside because he was extremely malnourished and dehydrated. He had not come for food at our house for 8 days. I am deeply troubled that the ER did not examine this animal before refusing care and offering guidance that directly conflicted with the medical findings of a licensed veterinarian. I am sharing this so others can advocate strongly for animals in distress and consider their options carefully. Please trust your instincts and seek a second opinion if something does not feel right. read more

My dog was having issues with her breathing so after a vet visit, they recommended we head here. They were ready for us when we arrived and had her on oxygen within a minute. You are able to go back and stay as long as you'd like. Once they had her stable they brought me their plan of action and estimate. She ended up staying for 24 hours and I got updates every 8 hours or so. We went and visited in the evening and they were very nice about letting us straight back, offered chairs and waters. I was ugly crying and the receptionist was so sweet with greeting me and the Vet came out immediately (I wish I would've got her name!). I was reading some of the other reviews and after my experience, I have to say that sometimes diagnoses don't reveal themselves readily. It requires digging deeper, just as it does with humans at times. i have nothing but wonderful things to say about the vets, techs and support personnel at VEG. My cat couldn't have been in much worse shape. He presented with a urinary blockage. He was in critical condition. After 24 hours, the problem didn't resolve despite treating the blockage because there was a bigger issue lurking which caused the urinary blockage. He had a 100% blocked intestine which was causing the other situation. They performed surgery and removed the foreign body material. After a day or two his plumbing was working again. I brought him home, but he wasn't doing that well. I took him back a few days later and they zeroed in immediately that he had developed pancreatitis. He was very sick. He was hospitalized a 2nd time. They were nothing but kind and wonderful to me. They sent me updates and photos every morning. I visited him daily, and they even worked with me financially. Three weeks later it's as if the whole thing never happened. My cat is doing great! They saved his life. Fast forward to this week, and my dog had an anaphylactic allergic reaction. My Vet was booked so they told me to get him to the ER. I went back to VEG and they took him in immediately. We had a hard time getting these allergy attacks under control, but once again, they did amazing work, and he is home on meds and doing well. Yes, it is expensive. However, if you've ever gone to VERGI or Gulf Coast, they are no bargain either. They are no more expensive than any veterinary ER and I highly recommend people keep pet insurance on their pets. The price of carrying pet insurance pales in comparison to the cost of a catastrophic illness. 90% of my bill was reimbursed in less than 2 weeks. I really want to thank them for their kindness, their attentiveness to both me and my pets. read more

What to expect if you visit this emergency clinic. Paid $1348.00 to help a stray kitty that we happen to discover injured, bleeding and unable to walk. We called ahead to let this clinic know the poor thing was really hurt, so they could be ready. Upon arrival, they were not ready. They asked if the cat was being surrendered. Not wanting them to put the cat down without even an exam, the answer was "no" to surrendering. Before they would even look at the kitty, they printed a price quote which included an X-ray. There was (1) other animal in the clinic upon arrival that had already been seen and many workers standing around, while the poor kitty waited a long time to receive any medical attention. At this point, I had already signed agreement to pay for the poor stray. After over 3 hours, the vet shared that the he cat was likely attacked and received sedation and an antibiotic shot. The kitty arrived not able to walk and sadly left in the same condition...unable to walk or put weight on the leg (I mentioned this to the vet who did not seem to care). Despite being told the X-ray(s) showed no break, when I asked about the bleeding open wounds, they said they also couldn't perform stitches. I was required to pay $1348.00 and told they could do nothing more. The open concept of the facility was impressive as pet owners can come in with their pets. The receptionist was the kindest of those that were there and had her own black cat with her at the front desk. The warmth of our regular veterinary clinic was not at this clinic other than the very petite receptionist who was the only one that offered help getting this cat in and out of my vehicle when all we had under urgent circumstance to transport was a large dog carrier. The vet and techs were all laughing so they seemed to enjoy being there only they did not show the same enthusiasm with the clients that also arrived during our visit or their pets. Had this not been a wounded cat needing attention after hours, I would never go here or go back. Seeing this kitty hurting, we had no other choice as we asked our neighbors and no one claimed this sweet kitty. read more

My poor fur baby hurt her leg and was whining and refused to bear weight, I knew she had to be seen right away, I called my vet banfield- who were no help at all. I then called another pet hospital near me and no answer, finally I called Vet ER and they picked up right away and told me to bring my dog right over. When you're stressed out and worried about your fur baby, it's the little things that count. The girl at the front desk saw me walking from my car carrying my dog and she ran to open the door for me and walked me right back and asked for a stat triage. I really appreciated the kindness and them seeing her right away. Everyone I came across was so nice and kept asking if they could get me anything. My dog had X-rays and labs done and got some medications. And while the bill was $$$ it was honestly worth the service. Hopefully you don't have to use an ER for your fur babies but if you need to, I highly recommend coming here. They will treat your baby with care and everyone I came in contact with had a great bedside manner. Dr. Garnier and the care team were exceptional. My dog came in for several episodes of vomiting, lethargy, and rapid breathing. They took vitals immediately and before we proceeded with diagnostics, Dr. Garnier explained the reason for the tests and the cost. If you agree with the recommendations and cost, then they will proceed, which I did. After gathering lab work and a full body X-ray with a radiologist consult, she succinctly explained the diagnosis and possible causes and treatments. She has great bedside manners, is professional, and was very patient with any questions/concerns I had. The staff was also attentive and caring. Cost was also made transparent from the very beginning before care is provided by the veterinarian which is extremely, extremely appreciated since many facilities don't do that and slam you with a bill later. This is an emergency facility so expect costs to be higher than an animal clinic. read more

After being turned away from my vet because it was too close to closing, I quickly gathered my old girl and took off for VEG Er in Katy. From the moment I walked in the door, I felt the compassion and care from all. Their first question was to get her name. They made us a pallet on the floor and brought care to Flair. Unfortunately, my baby didn't get to come home with me. My heart broke and still hurts. The entire staff was so caring as I was a crying, snotty mess. I loved her so! They made sure that I had a family member coming up. They didn't want me to drive myself. Financial responsibility was discussed. But it was handled so professionally and was a reasonable amount. They took care of everything. My baby girl is back home with me now, just not how she was before. I appreciate all the care and sympathy they offered while I was there; the candles, soft music, patience, and plenty of tissues. It was a very hard experience. I have used VEG several times. I've referred friends. NEVER AGAIN. I took my dog because I was worried about his upset stomach and unusual behavior. The attending vet was fresh out of school. She listened to me then went to set up a plan.....set up outrageous pricing. She came back with a 2800 estimate. Its all about the money. I told the get my dog had gotten into my chocolate kisses. It had been 48hrs already. At no time was a Senior vet present. I watched my baby lay there for 5 hours. Vet techs monitored his vitals. He was in obvious he was in pulmonary distress pain. The EKG machine didnt work properly the whole time. I repeatedly told the techs, no vet around, he was in pain and distress. The reponse was oh, thats normal. No it isnt! My baby layed there in pain for 7 hours...why...protocol was not followed. No ultra sound was performed. Had one been done my baby would have not suffered for 7 hours. He had a mass and was bleeding internally. By the time he was euthanized he was barely breathing. I had been lied to repeatedly by VEG. I have emailed corporate office, no response. I've emailed and called Medical Director at the Katy location...no response. I was told my baby's ashes would not be returned to me until I paid the agreed balance. I never agreed to pay anything. IF YOU LOVE YOUR FURBABIES..DO NOT GO TO VEG IN KATY. INCOMPETENT VETS, NO ACCOUNTABILITY FOR ERRORS MADE, AT THE OWNERS EXENSE, AND STAFF THAT LIES TO COVER ERRORS MADE. My puppy Amelia Bedelia (almost 2 y/o) suddenly became very sick Saturday afternoon, going from just fine to almost all blood poop and total lethargy within an hour. I called VEG and was immediately able to talk to a vet about her symptoms, and she said I should bring AB in right away. I was able to be seen by a vet nurse on walking in, who did all of the vitals and history, and then Amelia was able to be seen by Dr. Georges within minutes. I appreciate that throughout bloodwork, blood pressure, and x-rays, I could stay with Amelia. She ended up having to be hospitalized, and Dr. Georges was very firm that she needed to stay and not go home, and I'm grateful that she made sure Amelia got the right care. From calling VEG to Amelia being on an IV for overnight hospitalization after bloodwork and x-rays, the process was only two hours, which is incredible. It was a really scary situation for a previously perfectly healthy dog, and the VEG team was fantastic. They truly cared about the animals, were incredibly calming to both the puppy, and her anxious mom. I called multiple times in the middle of the night, and Heidi was so reassuring and gave great updates on Amelia's progress (Extra shout out to Dr. Georges, Tyler, and Heidi for their care) As a bonus, I took Amelia back to our vet Monday morning with some lingering symptoms, and the vet already had her records from VEG. Hope to not see the wonderful team again, but know that Amelia Bedelia would be in good hands if anything happens. read more

Yesterday we had to take my wife's 18 yr old Schiztsu in as he was in distress with his breathing. We called before we left and we're greeted at the door when we arrived. Taken immediately to a medical table and the vet techs immediately started examine him. The Dr was there in a min or two. Within minutes, he was X-ray'd and immediately the Dr diagnosed the issue. The diagnosis was not good. The Dr was so kind in discussing his issues and quality of life. We made the decision to have her little man put to rest. They moved us to a private room and allowed the kids to come up and say their goodbyes. When the time came to administer the drugs, the Dr was visibly moved in what she was doing - she truly cared for everyone involved. The staff was very professional in discussing the financials involved with this. I wish I could comment on a better outcome, but the staff and Dr were so kind.
