Fantastic little restaurant not to be missed, offers local delivery too. Have eaten in and had delivery several times, a true vegan gem.

On my recent visit, the server noted that the build your own tapas board was perfect for two people, so my partner and I chose this for the evening. It was full of delicious vegetables; my favourite part was the cauliflower wings. When we first arrived around 7pm on a Wednesday night it was on the quiet side but things livened up when a 10 person group came in! Also, on Wednesday's the cathedral practices their bell ringing so beware if you think that might be a distraction. Looking forward to our next visit!

It completely ruined our New Year's Eve. We were seated and then ignored for 90 minutes while food was served to every other table in the restaurant. No explanation. No update. Nothing. Only after repeatedly chasing staff were we finally told at 10.25pm on New Year's Eve -- when it was far too late to go anywhere else -- that there would be no food for us at all. The excuse was vague "communication issues" with the kitchen, followed by the chef refusing to cook because it was supposedly past cut-off time, despite food still actively coming out. There was no real apology, no accountability, and no manager in sight. Because we were told so late, everywhere else was closed, leaving us hungry on one of the most important nights of the year. Sitting customers for an hour and a half on New Year's Eve and then casually telling them they won't be fed is not a mistake -- it's gross incompetence. With service this bad, it's astonishing this place is still operating. Businesses like this give the hospitality industry a bad name, and frankly, I won't be surprised -- or disappointed -- when it eventually fails. It certainly doesn't deserve customers, trust, or second chances. Avoid at all costs, especially for special occasions. I honestly hope this restaurant goes bust this year. They don't deserve to be around any longer...

I got lost looking for the restaurant after my phone died but finally found my friend at the top of the steps leading down to Earth. Service is set up like a cafeteria, and for just £7 you can pick 4 items from the line (up to 2 "mains".) I think everything in the line and dessert counter is vegan - I was struggling to find dairy/egg items in the menu. I feel like it's more palatable for them to sell themselves as a vegetarian rather than vegan restaurant. I picked up a hearty bean chili atop quinoa, braised cabbage, and a beautiful mushroom pie, in addition to a lime/lemongrass bottled drink and coffee/walnut cake. Portion sizes were huge and you feel very healthy eating the food - the bean chili could have used more seasoning, but the savory mushroom pie was divine! Creamy, savory, and textural, I was surprised at how well they veganized this classic. The cabbage was like tame sauerkraut, which cut the richness of the pie well. The cake was mildly sweet but had a wonderful bitter aftertaste, the scent of ground coffee lingering in my palate long after I finished the last bite. I had a taste of my friend's raw blueberry cheesecake and we had quite a bit of fun trying to guess what they made it out of. It was alright - I would've wanted to try the raw tiramisu, if they had it.

Chef Neil Buttery is at the helm in the kitchen and Brian Shields is the ever welcoming face of the front of house. Whilst we didn't have any food as we'd eaten at Trove, the food we saw coming from the kitchen made us just a little bit jealous of everyone having filled to the brim pies with lashings of gravy. We had an assortment of drinks with some expertly mixed cocktails and some really great beers. We spent the vast majority of the evening here and the place was constantly busy with locals popping in for a drink or families coming in for a nice meal. A really great addition to Levenshulme that I can only imagine will go from strength to strength.

Turned out to be really cool casual and friendly. Non pretentious honest British food was served with no fuss but still perfectly presented and at a very fair price. Most people around us were here with friends and pints some sharing a board - "like they do in France" - of cheese and bread. We tipped for great service. Just a nice local place where you can expect to bump into your neighbours and come home far too late at night. I forgot to ask them about their bread: gorgeous sourdough bread. We had a great time and snored a lot that night... JB Why not 5 stars: I know it was Friday night. I know it s England. But may be the music was still a bit loud for a 8pm meal.

I took up residence in the dimly lit back area, where the cheerful waitstaff promptly took my order of a blood orange hot chocolate made with almond milk (!) The drink came out frothy and light, with a cloud of chocolate-dusted milk foam atop subtle, smooth chocolate. No bitter or artificial aftertaste. While bopping along to the background music and working on my laptop, I was informed that Leaf would close early at 19h instead of 20h, so I seized the opportunity to order dinner as well: the jerk lamb rump, and an order of jasmine pearl tea. The waiter helped me verify that the lamb was free of dairy, and soon I was chowing down on succulent roast lamb and garlicky roast beans. The mango jam was a perfect accompaniment to the meat, but I found the coconut/coriander rice too mushy to my taste. It helped me to imagine them as mashed potatoes instead, haha. The tea was sensuously fragrant, and I welcomed the scented fog clouding my glasses. I wish I could have stayed there longer, but I might return for brunch or tea - Leaf is truly a serene, wonderful establishment.

The prices are all under £10 so very reasonable, and it's all mostly healthy food. They offer a takeaway option as well which is slightly cheaper in price. The waitress was very friendly here and the atmosphere was casual and not too noisy but not dead quiet either. The downside is that it took ages to get our food; 40 mins wait for my falafel bowl and my mums falafel wrap, which seemed awfully long for a small cafe. Just to note they do not serve non vegan stuff, not even dairy milk is available but they have lots of alternatives like oat, almond, soya and coconut. Needing to start thinking about working on my hangover with a serious filling of food, I was more excited by next door BBQ restaurant 'South 7'but was convinced that Libby's was a cool place to hit - especially with having our 1 year old daughter in tow. And wow was I impressed - what a lovely cafe/bar that ticks all of the boxes for me. So first off they do a great lunch menu of full on sandwiches - my wife having what she called a tasty vegan hummus sandwich while I went for the other end of the spectrum by having their pulled pork sandwich (huge and amazing value for £4.50) - both coming with great big salads. My wife said the coffee was good while I had a bottle of Brooklyn beer (£4.50) - which did hit the spot with the food. This place has a full bar, an open plan kitchen, seating for about 50 inside and lots of lovely long benches like some east London hipster bar making the mix of customers a range of families, couples, old's and anyone who likes damn good food and drink in a relaxed setting while flicking through the complementary newspapers. Extra bonus shoutout for the baked in store bread which you can take away - their loaf was duly polished off in record time by me yesterday!
