Too bad Vector doesn't have a "click to cancel" approach. I wanted to cancel my service, and learned (after quite a bit of time online trying to figure it out) that you can't do it through their website. You have to call them. Good luck with that. I called on a Monday, spoke to someone (who could answer their phone but apparently wasn't authorized to accept a cancellation order), who then switched me to a "dedicated" staff person who wasn't dedicated enough to answer - I was on infinity hold. I called back the next day, and this time the person on the phone was able to put the cancellation through. I asked that it be effective the Monday when I first called, the day before. Nope, it was actually processed the day AFTER my second call to them. Other Yelpers have noted this cancellation problem as well. Those two extra days on my dime are not a huge amount, but it's a significant hassle no one deserves - especially not a cusomer whose been with them for years. read more

Worst customer service EVER! There is always long wait to talk to a representative. They turn off the alarm without notifying me, or the police, or fire department. Frequent equipment failures require technician visit - at a price of course. Very difficult to get the service disconnected. Vector security remains the worst company I've ever dealt with. They feel no need to abide by a legal contract ending with a form that they signed. They charged me for years after the service was over, but they purposely did not call me. They waited till 2 years later to beg for money, hoping the paperwork would not be there any longer. Now I leave a review every year when they start harassing me. I'm not the only one with this experience. They do not abide by the law and you will need to protect yourself from the security company's harassment. Take every precaution. read more

Slimy business practices. I thought a technician was coming in to install my system, instead I get a sales rep. I just bought a new house, work full time, and I have a lot going on... who doesn't? I've been running around all week for closing and trying to get stuff done as quickly as possible. So I think I'm with the technician just making chit chat before he'd install. He's like, sign here, do this, ok. I was told my service would be $25 a month and I would get a $200 credit that would essentially cover a year of services. But, it turns out it's $50 a month (!!) and he claimed he said I'd be covered "the rest of this year." (It's July! $200 would get me four months... which would be service through only October. That doesn't even make sense). I don't find this out until a week later. While still talking with the guy, I ask about how I can cancel if I don't like the service (still thinking he's a technician that's gonna install that day, which of course doesn't happen for 2 weeks with multiple restarts). I was told that I "can't cancel for 3 years!" My gut sank. Of course now today i have some time so I read the contract... and I could've canceled within 3 days. Of course he would fail to mention that. Signing with them was a big mistake because I feel that I got suckered and that I wasn't working with honest people. Watch out. For what it's worth, they've also had to come to the house multiple times because their equipment wasn't working. Some nice people in coordinating that but was still a headache. The service team is just horrible. A few weeks ago, we started getting a low battery notification. My wife called service, who told her she needed to replace the battery. "Go to Home Depot and buy a new battery and replace the old one." I finally found one at a Lowes and replaced the battery. A week later, I'm out of state on vacation and the low battery problem starts again, this time on a Saturday. I call and get a message that they are closed and these are the hours and days they are open. Little did I realize, but the low battery warning is accompanied with chime that go off every 8 minutes or so. We live in a twin, so my next door neighbor had this chiming all day and night. Needless to say... I get home and once again, can't get anyone from service on the phone. I finally get an operator who tells me this often happens and to press the status button twice. I hate to give this company a bad review based on their security performance, but this review is based solely on their customer service. Let me take you back 3 years...I mentioned to a Vector Security rep that I was interested in having a security system installed in my new construction home. I was still in the "shopping around" phase, so I was utterly SHOCKED when I went to check on the process of the construction and saw that a Vector security system was already installed and a contract was issued. I was NOT happy about this. I couldn't believe that the rep went behind my back and told the builder that I was moving forward with the install... this was NOT the case. Things got very ugly after this. So much so that the builder agreed to pay for the services since he was ultimately the one that gave the green light to the sales rep. I thought that was settled -- until I started receiving bills for other properties in the neighborhood -- all in my name!!! Apparently, the rep and the builder started working together on all of his new construction properties, but as far as Vector's billing team was concerned, the bills were coming to me. This was a hot mess for a while. A lawyer was even involved at one point...it was ridiculous. Eventually though, I thought everything was taken care of. Now, 3 years later, the agreement between the builder and Vector has ended, and I am "scheduled to take over payment." I did sign a contract 3 years ago stating this fact, but I only signed the contract because it was the only way they were letting close on my house! The whole thing was super stressful and the builder was already so far behind schedule that I felt as if I didn't have another option. I figured, well, they don't have my name spelled correctly on their documents (their billing department is a mess), and they don't have my banking information... Two years ago, I moved out of the country. I no longer have access to my US phone number, and I only get my mail every so often. Apparently, Vector Security was trying to get a hold of me to see if I wanted to continue services, and after they couldn't reach me, they assumed that was a yes. After several months, I was finally able to fly back to the States to explain the situation and ask for the bill to be waived. I wasn't hard-pressed to reach out to them before then because I figured they would understand the situation... not to mention, I also figured that they didn't have my banking information, and quite frankly, they still had my name spelled incorrectly on their billing documents (3+ years later). After speaking with a supervisor, she pretty much did not care. There was no human to human understanding about this. I was tricked into having these services in the first place, and now, I'm being required to pay for the months that they provided service before I could fly to the USA to cancel. There is no sympathy. No understanding.. My case is unique, so you think they'd be willing to waive the expense...especially given the shadiness of everything that I initially experience with their company. But, nope.. It's disappointing to say the least and I don't recommend their service to anyone. Now, reading through other people's reviews, I see that this seems to be their thing. read more

I recently purchased a new home and heard of a few break ins in the area. With a young family I figured I install a few blink cameras from amazon. Well batteries died all the time and I'd get notifications on every minute even if birds were chirping. So I searched around. I came across Vector and I had someone come out the very next day. Got everything that I was looking for and my house is fully automated. I had no idea that could be done but happy I did. Highly recommend this company. They were fast and friendly. read more

First of all we rent they installed our equipment and then called 2 days later saying that they needed us to send proof that we own our property. No one said anything about having to own to have a security system. After we already signed a contract and paid 115 dollars for the equipment installation and first month. They are coming to get the equipment we had for 4 days now and are not giving us our money back. Terrible way to represent your business maybe you should train your sales person to let consumers know in advance must own home to get security system. They made an appointment then call to say technician is sick and they send a replacement. The guy is retiring the next day and won't do the job because it's a 2 day job and he is literally retiring the following day. Now I have to wait another month. Do not take this company for your alarms. They promise you everything and when you have a problem, all of a sudden they don't Called three times and every time I was told that some one would contact me. On Feb2nd 2019 their tech came to my home at 9:30 AM and left at 4:45 PM and he could not change it. Then about an hour later the alarm was going into trouble mode at sensor#6 and sensor # 11. But we do not have a sensor #11. Then Vector called and said that they got a signal that we had a problem. My wife told them the same thing that I just told you. The operator said that some one would contact me. that is the fourth time that someone was going to contact. Awful experience with this company. We were sold a bill of goods, they couldn't fulfill what we agreed upon and SIGNED, it also took months to have them come and NOT install our system. The sales person sold and promised us a state of the art alarm system. When the technicians came finally to our home after waiting months, they couldn't do what we agreed upon and signed. Their answer to this was to 1. Not return any calls 2. Have us pay more for less of a system. Finally became so frustrated with them that I cancelled our contract.
