I just changed medical insurance, and my health care picked VCC as my primary care provider. I was a little hesitant after reading the reviews, however yesterday I decided to call their office to set up an appointment. They sound very polite and nice, they scheduled me for today at 11:15, so I took it and went to the office today for an initial visit. The place is nothing fancy, but is very clean and well maintained. The receptionist was professional and courteous, she ask me for ID, insurance cards, and she took care of the check in process very efficiently. I asked her if I should go and sit in the waiting area, and she said that the nurse would arrive shortly to take me in. Instantly the nursed opened the door and called my name. Adriana was very cordial, she did all the vital signs and ask me to wait in the room for the Nurse Practitioner. As I was thinking how lucky I was to have hardly waited at all, NP Skopek walked in with his assistant Mercedes. We went over my medical history focusing on records transfers, medications and with attention to future care. This all I wished for and nothing I did not need. After he dedicated the time necessary to establish a plan, he turned me over to Araceli for blood work. She was super nice and she drew my blood in few minutes. Maybe today was just my lucky day, however I feel that I need to share my awesome experience with all the staff at VCC. read more

I had made an appointment because I was having throat pain and I had chills, headache, and my neck felt swollen. I go in to get it checked, the nurse did a throat swab. So I waited for the results. Doctor comes in and doesn't even check me. She only checks my ear and nose...I'm I didn't had a problem with those. My problem was the throat. She just said the results came out negative and that I'm just getting sick. I was like no this isn't normal for me I'm not getting sick. So I just left. Next day I had to go to the ER. Turns out I have tonsillitis. Yea and I don't have anything and I'm just getting the flu according to this doctor from VCC. Never going here again. Going to change clinics because they don't bother checking. They just assume. And you call yourself a doctor. Don't waste your time her at this clinic. read more

I've been to a few VCC locations in north county and this specific location is pretty quick. I get taken care of and the staff is super friendly. I usually just book my appts at this location even tho other locations are closer to my home because of how quick they see me. read more

My Doctor..Dr.Macmurray is the Absolutely the best doctor I have ever had , And I've had quite a few since I am 61 years old . Very pleasant caring bedside manner , Very detailed and explained everything to me . He doesn't miss a thing always going over my chart and talking to me about everything that has been going on with my health . He's been my doctor since 1998... he's amazing I love him , he's my friend . If you're looking for the best doctor in Oceanside I suggest you attempt to come and see him . You might have to get on a waiting since his patient food is already complete and he has no room for any new ones . I love you Doctor for taking such good care of me ! You Rock !!!!! read more

It's always a long wait. Also, I think I would not go here again for a female wellness exam, they made me go back twice. The first time they said the cup they used was expired. Also, there was at least three people in the room, why does there have to be three people? I understand 2 people, because the doctor was an older man and having another female is good, but then there was someone else always (I think a new student doctor learning) and they didn't explain (I felt like an experiment). Yet, the doctor seemed like he did not know what he was doing really. I felt uncomfortable (both emotionally and physically). I'm still sore almost a week later from the exam! I had to make another appointment, and when I tried to do so at the desk the girl working there said I didn't need to, there was a whole confusion about everything. It seemed very unprofessional. The only reason I go here is because I have terrible HMO insurance and they have convenient times available with my work schedule, but I would avoid this place if possible. read more

This place was absolutely horrible. I have a hard time believing that their doctors have actual degrees. My boyfriend went in for swollen tonsils with pus on them, and the doctor chalked it up to a minor cold. He then prescribed Claritin, which is for allergies. My boyfriend does not have allergies, nor is he congested. The doctor refused to listen to me about him needing antibiotics. We only left with a note saying he can't go to work for the next 4 days and anger. The doctor was Michael MacMurray, and he was completely arrogant about anything I had to say. I get strep very frequently and know a lot about throat infections. read more

Waited almost two hours with an appointment. The last half hour was in a room. When I came out to ask if I had been forgotten the doctor's response was "You're just going to have to wait." No explanation. No apology. He said it with a very rude tone too. I walked out without my much needed prescription. This is the typical clinic found anywhere in the nation, slow, lack of compassion, low quality healthcare. Welcome to America ! This is what you get with The Affordable Healthcare Act. If you don't have any other way to obtain basic healthcare, then you're like me in great danger of falling through this gaping crack in the system. I have several chronic conditions that require medications and have nowhere else to turn to in order to keep the prescriptions in effect. I will always have to wait two hours or more to see one of the doctors, feel rushed once they finally get to the exam room, feel as if they are reading and asking me questions from a script on their computer, ( electronic diagnosis ) and then left to wait another hour ? for bloodwork and then shuffled out without any followup comments, etc. I gave two stars due to the patient portal that helps to stay in touch with the system. The front desk and the attitude of the staff is about as bad as I've experienced anywhere. I've actually received much better care and compassion in a third world country where you can afford to pay as you go, no insurance or assistance necessary.... What does that tell you about healthcare in America today ? Either you have the best insurance available and or a fist full of money to spend on healthcare, or else you are forced to go to clinics like this one.... Best wishes to all that need their services. You may be one of the chosen ones like josh h. and get in and out within the appointed time or not... I have waited for hours after arriving on time for my appointment and watched the waiting room turn over twice or three times while observing people coming in and waiting ten to fifteen minutes and get out in thirty minutes. What is that all about ? That's not been my experience...ever....! Some are simply lucky or chosen by some unknown reason to be able slip efficiently through the otherwise slow inconsistent system at VCC. I'm thankful for the less than acceptable healthcare system here in America today. I never thought I'd ever make such a ridiculous statement ! I guess that's like saying " It beats nothing " ... The waiting room has been completely remodeled. Much better than I remember. That being said, the staff has been professional and thorough and they seem to work very hard to do their jobs properly. Dr Mckinney is outstanding. I would've given them the extra star if not for the somewhat long waiting time. If I could give 0 stars I would. SO unprofessional. Every single time I come to this location I wait over an hour. I have came to 2 locations now for blood testing 4 times now. EVERY time I go in (early) check in fill out the paper work, tell them what I'm there for I wait for them to call my name. 35-40 minutes go by of me sitting and waiting just for them to tell me that the "doctor" is on vacation or not available today. Like, why can't you guys let me know ahead of time so I'm not calling off or late to work? Scheduling everything to go to scripps now. PLEASE, please, please DO NOT come here if you are pregnant. I have not been able to get ANY BLOOD WORK DONE!!! I am 19 weeks and have not had anything done, not one ultrasound done through them. Trash, and this establishment should be closed. I was not checked into the room to see the doctor until 4:30. One of the staff members was very friendly but the others were quite rude. I had an appointment time and expect to be seen at that time. I had a pretty nasty laceration on my arm that required stitches. I called first thing in the morning and the receptionist was very sweet and got me an appointment right away. The wait time was pretty lengthy but it is what it is - it's a clinic - that should be expected. The girl who took me into a room and got my history was very friendly and compassionate. The doctor who saw me ( Jillian Elliott ) was WONDERFUL! She was caring, sweet, considerate, and very helpful. She stitched me up and got me all taken care of... She was very cautious and tried her hardest to make me as comfortable as possible considering the severe laceration I have and having to perform the repair which I genuinely appreciated. read more

Called the central number to request a refill of my script and I was told it could take up to 72 hrs to be approved, or I could have an appt with Dr Reyanosa in 45 minutes to write a new one. I accepted the latter option. The ladies at the front desk went above and beyond to make sure insurance would cover my visit. They were kind, patient and courteous. I was seen by the Dr at exactly my appt time, 10:15 and I left with my refilled script 20 mins later. This healthcare group is striving to better itself on all levels Apparently, VCC is learning from Disneyland, they gave me a tracking chip from check-in to give back at checkout to help monitor times. Obviously they care and are trying to offer the best in healthcare. I congratulate them on a job very well done today. Thank you for making me feel better today! read more

The staff was friendly and the Doctor was very nice. The wait was expected. What wasn't expected was the $281 charge for freezing off a wart! I wasn't even told the cost would be high or I would have gone somewhere else. I cant afford to go back. So much for community clinic. read more

She was thorough and gave age-appropriate advice that I was thankful for. I made an appointment on Wednesday and was seen on Friday at 9:30. We were called back at 9:35. The main reason I am yelping is because my daughter said how happy she was with her doctor. I never heard her say that, ever. read more

I want to alert current or potential patients of this clinic and in particular, a doctors performance who works here. My elderly father was attending this particular clinic and seeing Dr. MacMurray for a couple of years. His granddaughter was taking him and we were never alerted to the lack of follow-up regarding his care by her until I personally visited & took him Sept 2014 when his health started to go downhill. I stood next to the physicians assistant and looked at the computer and noticed that several of my dads prescriptions were incorrect in their records. The fact that he has had a stroke, is on: blood thinners, high blood pressure and afib medicine was of great concern because the doses listed on their records could have been fatal. In fairness to the clinic, because I had not had any experience with them up until this point, quite possibly theerror was with the granddaughter because she did not update them with other doctors changes in his medication. But that is the last benefit of the doubt I would give this clinic after what happens next. They said to come back in three weeks but I wasn't about to wait that long when my dad's health was at stake; I rescheduled for three days later. I wrote a clear and concise letter to Dr. MacMurray stating that we wished him to review every single one of my dad's medications and rewrite correct prescriptions related to dosage and strength as there was a conflict with the ones he had at home. I faxed the letter to Vista Clinic and it took an act of Congress to just get their fax information.You do NOT get the clinic when you call-just a call center- I called and followed up three times! No one returned my call and no one confirmed they got the fax fo his follow up appt. . The family letter was brushed off with little respect and my dad was ordered some blood tests. When Dr. McMurray called to tell me he had high levels of digoxin in his system and high creatine levels and his kidneys I explained-when he gave me a chance to speak- the letter I sent detailed all this info--that my dad may have been taking wrong strength and dosage which is why I wanted him to review all the meds. For an unknown reason he told me to continue my dad on the same strength and dose of digoxin he had been taking even though his levels were extremely high already. That concerned me so much that I asked to have all the bloodwork faxed to his cardiologist for an appointment the following week. It was never faxed. I called. I got no response. I had the cardiologist office request a fax of his bloodwork- they also got no response. I finally left a rather strong message on the voicemail to the clinic manager. She and a nurse returned my call, both on speakerphone, telling me everything had been faxed which in fact was not the case because no one on the other end had received any faxes regarding my dad's health condition or blood results. Trust me I checked with every doctor every day. Thank God a very resourceful nurse at the cardiologist office went through several labs online and was able to retrieve a copy of my dad's blood work,no thanks to Dr. McMurray or Vista Clinic.The results were quite frightening. My dad had become toxic with the levels of digoxin in his system and his kidneys were at risk. The cardiologist took him off everything for a week and did new blood work. Needless to say Vista Clinic is very unprofessional and put my dad's health at great risk not to mention the three weeks of merry-go-round they put me on by never responding to any of my requests or outside doctors request for critical patient information. All the proper channels were taken and I had authorization to request anything.. yet received nothing but incompetent service...all whie my elderly father's health was at risk. If you're unfamiliar with any of the medical terms I have used just know that incorrect strength & dosage of medications can have a very toxic and detrimental effect on anyone, particularly, someone over 90 years old. If you value your health or your loved ones health you will research and personally visit any clinic or doctor you go to in the future. I would NOT recommend this clinic nor Dr. Mac Murray. However, if yu are ever in need of an excellent cardiologist I highly recommend Dr. Hong. He may have saved my dad's life! read more

I wish there was a way to give (-5 ) stars. I went to Pier view Clinic in Oceanside for a routine pap smear appointment and saw Nurse Practitioner Denise Reppenhagen. I waited for over 1 1/2 hours for a scheduled appt. When the Nurse Practitioner came into the room she seemed hurried. I asked her to be gentle (which she was not) and after visual inspection she told me nonchalantly I had a horrible STD which I will not name. I was shocked due to the fact I am married and been with my husband for over a decade with over a half dozen normal pap smears. I asked her if she took cultures and she said "no". I am a professional and have a degree in biology, so it seemed odd to diagnose somebody with a STD without proper diagnostics. I asked her again to take cultures and had to be subjected to another pelvic exam the same day for the NP to take cultures. I then had many questions for the Nurse Practitioner of course. She told me to go home and "google" her diagnosis and insinuated my husband may not have been faithful when I asked her how I could have gotten an STD. I went home and was devastated! My husband and I had some very uncomfortable conversations over the next 7 days and we were both very distraught and depressed. After 1 week had passed I still had not received the results of my cultures even though I was told it could take between 2-7 days. I had to call and ask for my results. A receptionist (who was wonderful) called the lab and had the results faxed over. All results were negative! I cannot believe how unprofessional and irresponsible Nurse Practitioner Denise Reppenhagen was in giving me incorrect and horrible news without proper diagnostics and only a visual inspection. When I did go home and google my diagnosis there were many explanations from credible websites why I may have had the symptoms she was diagnosing. I will never go to Pier View Clinic in Oceanside again and Denise Reppenhagen should consider another profession and also take a course in compassion and empathy. I was given life changing news by Nurse Practitioner Denise Reppenhagen which was not only incorrect but delivered in a callous uncaring manner. My husband and I are now considering legal action and would not want anyone to be subjected to this hack. Thank you. read more

This clinic is so uncaring for patients. I made a schedule to see a doctor on a Tuesday 2018 because there was a possibility that I broke my knee and was in extreme pain. They reffered me to a radiologist in Carlsbad. The kind of treatment I would receive depends on a fracture or not. I had to wait 24 hours before the referral arrived on Thursday. I called VCC to get my results so I could be treated for the pain, they called Carlsbad Imaging and said it should arrive early Friday. It is now 5:00 Friday, I called VCC again and they said the doctor was busy and should call me back in 24 to 48 hours. So I'm in pain for nearly a week before I can get treatment. I would give minus stars if I could. read more

I had an appointment for 11:00 showed up and signed in at 10:42 was given paper work to sign and was asked the same questions about medical emergency contacts and given the same paper question sheet to answer all at 11:30 , I waited in the lobby at 12:00 decided to wait five more minutes , by the way no one was at the front desk and their were no more patients in the waiting room , I got up at 12:05 waited for someone to help me at the lobby desk area , did not get help until I changed my position around the lobby desk area and said excuse me at the medical assistants chatting in the back of the clinic, I said my appointment was at 11:00 it is now 12:10 and I could not wait any longer,the women said ok and that was all. If I was lucky I would have been put in a room at 12:30 had been seen by the nurse at 12:55 , had my blood drawn at 1:15. An appointment for a follow up and blood work should not take two hours. I have had a very positive experience throughout my pregnancy with VCC, and im very grateful to have gotten pre-natal care from them. For a health clinic, honestly I would say they are a very good one and very organized and professional! For pre-natal care, I would highly recommend going to them as they work really hard at creating a stressless and comforting environment for pregnant women. I loved my health educators, and my nurse practitioner. Very friendly and helpful. Honestly the only down side to me were the couple of older doctors that I saw that really just didn't give me the time of day and were not very personable and friendly, but lets face it alot of doctors have that attitude unfortunately. Other than that VCC is an awesome clinic to go to and I am very thankful that they are around and have so many locations! Their staff really does care about patients and does their best to accomodate everyone according to their personal schedules, and busy lives. I really appreciate their hard work. read more
