Everything went really well. Our cat went downhill really fast and we needed to have her euthanized. Everyone we dealt with was very sympathetic and helpful. They were all very caring and gentle for our cat. Everything was explained to us and we were given all the time we needed with her. Avoid this place if you love your pet. They are not professional. They upsell to run unnecessary tests. They do not provide the treatment your pet deserves and will charge you an arm and leg to get substandard care. They send me an appointment and when I arrive they tell me they don't set appointments. I understand that the waiting list can vary but they are unaccommodating to drop off or get a call to come back. The staff is rude if you ask any questions. I will never go back and find I need to warn others about this place. Even after I showed them the email they said they don't set appointments and said I was rude when I asked them to read the email to me if I misunderstood it. They wrapped his leg so tight from where they drew blood that his paw swelled up 300% normal size. They told me on a followup visit they should have removed that before he was sent home. It wasn't. They will not allow you to drop off a pet until someone talks to you. That can be over an hour and they ask 2 questions. Is he vomiting or has diarrhea then they will hold until they are ready. We have used the veterinary clinic for all 3 of our pets. Unfortunately it seems they care more about making money than they do about our animals and their discomfort and pain. Needless to say we will be transferring the care of our pets to someone who actually puts in more of an effort and concern of our pets especially when they need it most. It's also always difficult to get an appointment when needed. Or they send you to an urgent hospital (which is also vca) but double the price. What is the point of having a vet when you can't get in and they won't work with you in an emergency situation to get some relief for your pet when it is suffering. Not super happy about our latest experience here. Brought our older female dog in about a week and a half ago for a uti. They did a urine analysis to confirm the uti and gave us antibiotics. Our dog gets these yearly this time of year. We noticed it wasn't getting much better and then yesterday she started having accidents all over the house and her urine is bloody. Called and asked if they could prescribe different antibiotics, was told nope gotta bring her back in (mind you she still had a day left of the antibiotics). Brought her back in, paid for another urine analysis to be told they won't prescribe another antibiotic until the analysis is done. We have now spent over $800 in less than two weeks for a uti that is only getting worse and told we have to wait at least another two day before they might prescribe something. So awesome, spent a lot of money with a dog peeing blood every 10-20 min all over the house because she can't hold it because they wanted to waste more time and money to confirm the uti that they already diagnosed. I full heartedly believe this was nothing more than a big money grab, they obviously don't care as they're perfectly okay with having my dog in pain while peeing everywhere until they confirm what they already know to treat her. Edit for business response: have paid too much money while having an animal in pain while urinating blood every 20-30 minutes and to have zero results or treatment options after 3 days is not acceptable. If I had known this information ahead of time we would have found a vet that actually cared about animal well being and provided treatment options in a more timely manner. 3 days of an animal being in pain is absolutely animal cruelty. read more

If I could give less than 1 I would. I brought my dog in for itchy and swelling. I paid $160 for a shot that would stop the itch for 30 days. this morning he is no better. VCA solution was throw more meds at him. he was taken away from me yesterday for his exam then jabbed not once but twice with a very stingy medication and I heard him cry! this is unacceptable. I will NEVER do business with VCA and I will tell iEVERYONE I know about this. I have lived in the area over 35 years. I know a lot of people. Booked an urgent care appointment for 3:30 called at 9:40am got there at 3:30 full lobby had someone ask me what was wrong with my cat and then didnt get any update or information for 3 hours. The urgent care appointment was $161 and we didnt get seen FOR THREE HOURS. The whole point of an appointment is a guaranteed slot yet we sat there with my scared cat forced to stay in his carrier no bathroom for three hours. The whole visit its self was over $300 JUST FOR SOME EYEDROPS AND FLEA MEDICATION they made my cat with an eye infection sit in his kennel in a loud lobby for three hours because they couldn't make a proper schedule. On the phone call we were not informed that the 3:30 URGENT care appointment we were booking wasnt a guaranteed spot and that we would be waiting three hours being some even saw what color my cat was. Even two other urgent care appointments who came in after me got their animals taken back for an exam before my cat did. Paid $161 for the appointment not including exam and meds and my poor cat didnt even get his vitals check or anything. They took NOTHING about my appointment like it was URGENT i didnt pay $161 to sit around like my appointment wasnt URGENT! Ive seen so many cats loose their eye and sometimes their life over a small eye infection sand i dont fuck around about my pets health so forcing my cat to sit around in a kennel with no food or water or bathroom for three hours when he could've been waiting at home is inhumane. I also asked the doctor about cat litter and if any litter should be avoided and is bad for their health cuz ive been hearing stuff out pretty litter being silica gel and causing dust that messes with their lungs, vet just said oh no nothing specifically they should stay away from just depends on what ur cat likes? I had to take in a very sick cat this morning, and not only did they get him in right away, they were so kind the whole time, and even though the outcome was not what I would have liked they were so sensitive and gentle, and the dr even shed some tears with me. Really consider not using this vet clinic. They are 100% committed to selling products that do not work or are unnecessary. Recently was sold a product the Veterinarian prescibed for my dog and it did not perform as described. When I brought it back and asked to switch it for one that wasn't defective I got the runaround about how its a known problem with this type of product and they cannot do anything about it. So they prescribe a product with known defiencies and are basically trying to get rid of their stock pile of a defective prescibed medicine! Care provided to my pet was great but they prescribe defective meds and wont do anything to correct it. I was offered a different product at a higher price but I already was prescribed that product. I've brought both my Whippets here. It's very stressful not being allowed in the building. But I think they do a good job coordinating. They were the only vet I could find locally that would take a new client on short notice. They helped save my 14-year-old Whippet during an emergency. I have been going there for awhile now and I'm done with them. VERY expensive. They sent me a reminder card for vaccines. I took my older dog in for an exam for the prescription flea and tick medicine also. Guess what.. that dog needs all of its vaccines (most I had no idea what for) and they were put out by me as asking questions. $285 out the door and that did not include the flea medication. They told me I needed to come back in 2 weeks for a booster. Guess what... charged for another "exam" fee of 52$ plus the vaccine just after she was just seen 2 weeks before. Never see the same vet twice and it's just about production and, if you don't do what they recommend they make you feel like you don't love your pet. read more

We are new to area, moved from FL. Scheduled my dog for her annual visit; however, she developed a severe UTI so she was seen for that also. They ordered urinalysis and urine culture, but did not give her any treatment (no antibiotic, nothing for discomfort). My dog got much worse over the course of the week, urinating in the house every hour or so with blood and blood clots. I texted, sent an email, and left a VM for the vet, all were ignored. When I spoke to receptionist, she said they could not do anything for my dog until her culture results were back, even though I expressed how much in pain and discomfort she was with the worsening UTI. Also the clinic left me a VM on Saturday after seeing her on Tuesday telling me I should take her to the Salem clinic?? WHY? In desperation, I called my vet in FL to ask for help and to prescribe something for my dog for her discomfort. read more

First I will say that their "coupon" is misleading. It says first visit "free" and when you click to get the coupon, it's actually $25. Which, is fine, I have no problem paying $25 for a visit. Then, after spending 5 or so minutes on the phone having the receptionist take all of my info and my dogs and booking the appointment, I go and they don't have me down for an appointment. Apparently, they forgot to click "enter" and actually book my appointment. Fortunately, they were able to get me in, otherwise I wouldn't have come back. Lastly, the exam was okay, but I mostly felt like she was trying to up sell me on every service they offer. Vaccine's, heartworm test and medication, nail clipping and dental work, which I got an "estimate" on for $600 to $1,000! HA! No thanks. Never had an issue with this place and have been taking all my fur babies here. They are very kind to me and help me with numerous things I need done. It can be on the pricey side, but I want to make sure my dogs havewhat they need. The only thing that kind of a bummer is that they are booked out so far in advance so you can't really do emergencies im sure. They take covid precautions very nicely and do most of the things for you which is nice! I haven't had the same doctor so I'm not sure if that will be concerning to others that wants just one doctor work on your baby forever type thing. My dog was sick with the same symptoms that would come back regularly after the medication wore off. After several hundred dollars of tests and no clue what was wrong, when the sickness came back for the forth or fifth time, I called and asked to talk to the vet about it. I said I wanted to get to the bottom of it. What I got was the same medication prescribed again, and no call from the vet. We changed vets that day (hooray for Hoffman Vet Clinic), had the same tests for much less cost, and the new vet called me later that day, diagnosed chronic pancreatitis and changed my dog's food. I don't think VCA Keizer Vet is interested in helping animals. I think they are interested in selling medication and charging fees. read more

I should have read the reviews before taking my fur babies to this vet. In March, I brought home two kittens from a breeder. They needed their final round of vaccines, so I brought them where I'd gone with my last cat. Unfortunately, my babies were having diarrhea at the time of our appointment, so the vet postponed the vaccines and put them on antibiotics, eye drops, and Rx food instead. The vet tech actually told me that they could have herpes, before doing any tests. With the antibiotics my babies got better at first, but eventually the diarrhea came back again, and again, and again. My husband and I were at the end of our options after three months of poopy paws, icky litter boxes, and sick babies. One of my babies had serious diarrhea for the better part of three months. During that time, we went through another round of antibiotics, and put them on home-cooked boiled chicken and rice (a recommendation from the vet that worked for a short time). Then tried to transition them into several different foods from there. Nothing was working for the long term. When I went to the Keizer vet one final time, she advised us to try the Royal Canin Rx food again, even though it didn't work before. So we slowly introduced the Rx food. The diarrhea just got worse. He was going 6-8 times a day for a week straight! The vet said she would call the food makers to see if they had any advice. After a week of the worst diarrhea ever, I decided to make a vet appointment elsewhere for a second opinion. First thing the new vet suggested was that it could be worms, but she would also test the stool sample we brought, take blood, and do a few other tests to rule out FIV, and genetic issues. She gave him a dewormer while we were there and said her in-house tests were clear. We just had to wait for a couple lab results, but everything else looked alright. The results all came back fine. Turns out it was worms all this time. My baby hasn't had diarrhea since that visit on June 27th. It's the longest he's gone without any problems and in the first week, he gained a pound. A simple, very common problem in kittens that could have been treated for less than $50 wasn't even considered as a potential issue at the Keizer Vet. When I told a friend about the diarrhea, the first thing she said was "it could be worms." She's not a vet, just an experienced pet owner. What makes me so mad is that never crossed the Keizer vet's mind. Instead she put our babies on two rounds of antibiotics, and other expensive meds, treatments, and foods, over three months, and he still had chronic diarrhea!! We spent hundreds of dollars there and it could have been easily solved with a cheep dewormer!? WTF! It took me bringing my baby to another vet, spending another $500+ on an exam and tests, because of Keizer's oversight! I WANT MY MONEY BACK and reimbursement for the money spent at the new vet!! I also want an apology from our Keizer vet for her negligence, and I'd like to warn anyone who takes their pet here that they may not be giving the best care to your pets. In fact, I get the feeling she doesn't know what the hell she's doing. Worst is that my 3-month old kitten had to suffer for half of his life because of her ignorance. The more I think about this situation the more angry I am. I guess I just need to be grateful that my baby is finally healthy again. read more

I will never go there again. 10 years ago they preformed an unconsented surgery on my dog while i left him there for neuter. They preformed an additional "minor" surgery that i didnt approve of. Fast forward a few years, that doctor no longer there, i take my cat in for annual checkup and vaccinations. Since she was a senior kitty they asked if i would like to have a blood draw to check up on illnesses or diseases she may have. She was in good health, i declined. Marked the form NO and tech took her out of room to weigh her etc. She came back into me with a bandaged front leg where they had done a blood draw!!! I woke up to a pretty sick/uncomfortable cat. After calling VCA and getting their opinion it was decided that we could wait to take our cat in until a normal vet opened but we needed to be on their door step when they opened so at 7:30a we went to the Keizer Vet Clinic explained the symptoms and the cats previous history with UTIs (which is a cat KILLER).... Their response? To look us straight in the eyes and REFUSE to see our cat. They looked at us and said this is a medical emergency and our cat needed to be seen right away but they would not see him and turned us away. Even after telling they are literally the only place open they still refused and continued to say how important it was the cat was seen immediately. I understand if the clinic was completely slammed or there was something else crazy going on but this was not the case. It was 7:30a and empty. We were not even offered suggestions on places we COULD go since they were apparently too busy. After this horrible experience with Keizer Veterinary Clinic I called my normal vet who luckily answered EARLY. Thankfully my cat was then immediately treated by them and is ok now. I will NEVER recommended Keizer veterinary clinic or support them in any way. read more

The staff at Keizer Veterinary Clinic are the best! We have been bringing our wonderful doggies to them for several years. Everyone at the from desk is very friendly and extremely accommodating to our needs. One of the amazing front desk people is Jami. She is always wonderful to work with. She is friendly and continually willing to help! All the veterinarians are amazing to work with. We have worked many times with Dr. Nicole Slater. She is so knowledgeable and thoroughly understand our dogs and their needs. She is is able to explain terms so we can understand the situation. She is extremely compassionate especially with Molly, our 13+ yr old Golden Retriever. Abby, our three yr old Labrador Retriever actually enjoys coming in. I also commend them for their large contribution to the Keizer Rapids doggie park! This park is wonderful! We have been able socialize with friends as our dogs run free in the dog park. We have meet some great people and some breed of dogs we had never seen. We both two of the "Paw Print Pavers" as I way to show support. I love taking our doggies there and showing off their pavers! The success of the park is based on community efforts from businesses and volunteers. I applaud these efforts! I would DEFINITELY recommend them to anyone looking for a great Vets and helpful staff! I love this clinic! My pup has seen a number of vets here, and they're all very friendly. They do call checkups to see how she's doing a couple of days after they've seen her. When we've needed to go to an emergency vet overnight and had records faxed over, they call us first thing in the morning. They also offer a checkup and a month of flea treatment if you adopt your pup from the Humane Society as an initiative to help with giving homes to animals that need them. Love! read more

There are 4 or 5 vet clinics on river road in Keizer. Out of all of them they have the highest rates and Willamette was the cheapest, by 25%. Keizer vet will not answer any questions about diagnosis, options, or any medical questions at all over the phone. Willamette on the other hand was happy to discuss on the phone in as much detail as they could without seeing my dog and gave me an accurate idea of what I could be facing. I moved to Salem about a year ago. When making a move, I always dread the 'finding a new vet' process. However, I have one dog who is people selective; so, I let him choose! May sound funny; but, I can always tell by his actions and when I walk in the door, he looks around and then wags his tail, I know we are at the right place. As he is diabetic and needs a little more than annual care and monitoring, we are now at the vet fairly regular. Consistently when we go to Keizer Vet, he walks in the door and his tail is still wagging. My experience with the Dr'.s and staff - always pleasant, efficient - longest wait has been 2-3 minutes within appointment time, and the Dr'.s I have seen have been encouraging to allow me to monitor my dog at home when I can. This saves me time for a trip in as well as money when an exam is not needed. I highly recommend Keizer Vet! :-) read more

When I was searching for a new vet in the Keizer area, I asked around. The majority of people I asked enthusiastically recommended KVC, so we decided to give the clinic a try. I'm glad we did. We've had nothing but good experiences with routine visits as well as visits for various health issues with my dog (who has a complicated health history). Our dog is a family member--our "first baby" before the human babies came along--and as such we have always sought the best care for her. Over the last decade this has involved trips around Oregon and Washington for specialty care (vet neurologists) and seeing the best of the best. When I relocated to the Keizer area, I wondered if I would be able to find care of the same caliber as we had previously enjoyed. But I have been so pleasantly surprised by the care, consideration and expertise of the staff and vets at KVC, from the people who greet me at the front desk to technicians and the vet we see, who is very patient and spends as much time as is necessary at each of our appointments. I've also appreciated that my questions are thoroughly answered and the follow-up phone calls just to check and see how my dog is doing and if we have additional questions. Fees are reasonable, fair and no surprises. My neighbor and I (who also takes her pet to KVC) have commented that we wished we received the same customer service for our own medical care! read more

I was a new customer, things started off fine. The vet tech told my dog to get temperature and weight, would have rather been involved but no big deal. Next the Dr. came in and bombarded me with everything. I came in for medication, and to ask questions about an old injury. My dog was in need of a vaccination in the next couple months but the Dr. went straight to giving the shot. Then went on for 5 to 7 min about a medication regimen for the previous injury. They had medical notes from 4 months ago but acted like he knew everything didn't bother to ask about what my dogs condition was the last few weeks. Basically I felt "railroaded". It seemed as though the Dr. was trying to impress me with his knowledge saying all of these medical terms, you are a doctor you are supposed to know all that but be able to explain it to the common folk like me. And beware of the cost!! 1 vaccination, 6 months of heart worm, and office visit was $150, veterinary services are expensive but wow!! Will not go back, do not reccomend. read more

Just received a letter today stating that we should find another vet, as apparently we have not been satisfied. The dissatisfaction is with their Practice Manager "Kim". Because we questioned one of their policies "twice" I asked for a copy of the policy. She stated that it wasn't written but that it was the way they operated. I have had no problems with any of the vets. They have always been kind and helpful. When I called to try to ask why the letter had been sent, they sent me to "Kim" and she said none of the vets would talk with me and that she was in charge--and the vets had met as a group and said they didn't want our business any more. I do not believe this, because all of the vets have been very gracious and helpful. Until they remove "Kim" from their practice, they will continue to lose clients. I was really disappointed with my service at this vet clinic. I took my cat in because I knew she had an ear infection, and he hardly looked in her ear before he recommended that I put her under so they could scope it. I basically had to force him to give me the ear medication that I knew that she needed. He reluctantly prescribed give me the medication I got it and then paid for my visit and left guess what, she got better. I know the medication that I needed, he just refused to even look at my cat before recommending that he put her under anesthesia. Really really disappointed wouldn't never go back. I have taken her to multiple veterinary clinics and he is the only one who has ever ever ever recommended that nobody else has ever had a problem with her. I feel like he was just looking for more money out of me and did not care for my pet read more
