Let me start by saying that every administrative and customer service interaction was timely, clear, and concise. The last thing you want in this situation are delays and confusion. Once I reached out through the contact link on their website, the email response with details about their different services happened within 10 minutes. An intake call to make arrangements for a euthanasia visit at our home was answered by a human and only took a few minutes. They recommend making a reservation 48-hours in advance, but we were put on a wait-list and we moved up our reservation when things opened up. I appreciate that you can reschedule (with four hours advance notice) as well. They have a variety of services, Eco-friendly cremation, and memorial pieces. Everything was arranged in advance, including payment through their web portal, so when the vet arrived for the appointment it was all about our boy and his (and our) comfort. Dr. Wilson clearly walked us through the process, gave us time to say goodbye, provided options, and was a wonderful partner in the process. Cremation is done at a facility in N. Portland, but they have the option of picking up the cremains in Oregon City which was more convenient for us. Having gone through this experience with another pet where we took them to the vet's office, I would highly recommend this option for the pet's comfort. It just felt better saying goodbye in a familiar space surrounded by love.

And an even longer two or three weeks before that fighting to get him to eat. Like others here, Kevin was closer to me than my human family. I was busy with the doctors in ER so my partner called in to make the appointment to ease my stress. He said I was primary contact, but it was difficult to make that clear all the way until the day so communications were continually going to him. Not a big deal in the overall picture, but it didn't make the experience any easier. This was my cat for 8 years before I met my partner and while he loved my baby, I was the one with the lifelong bond. The doctor showed up within the time window allotted. We both found her a little cold. I felt like we were just a job and everything was done by number. My BF picked up my cat and carried him to me, but the doctor said we should do paperwork first which resulted in me putting him down after building up to do what I deemed impossible. I was emotional and crying. This really should somehow be handled before the visit. There were corrections to be made on the form. I was about to lose my baby and this only made me aware that I was filling out his death warrant. I am utterly heartbroken. I know holding your baby until the last minute is catharsis and closure, but I found it traumatizing. His passing was peaceful at least. Everyone's goodbye will be unique, and my example will not necessarily match what others experience. Everyone we spoke to was professional. I just wasn't feeling the compassion.

While I don't mind the hustle, she kept making me feel bad for not getting treatments for my dogs. For example said that if I got some treatment for my dog that they would not drool as much after the surgery. Hearing that made me feel worried but I ultimately decided my dogs did not need that and even after the surgery I did not see any drooling problems with my dogs. She also kept asking me if money was a problem during our consultation, which was not. Price was very inconsistent in comparison to what would be the set price. Just felt throughout the whole process that l was trying to get sold treatments for my dogs and just seemed like the vets just cared for profit for themselves. And I didn't feel comfortable at the end of my experience with these people and vets.

She made it clear to me that they had to "just get it over with". Just before he died, he had anxious reached out to me pleading for me to stop them from killing him before he went limp in my lap with his head in my hands. The vet just calmly said, "He's gone." Not an ounce of compassion. Fortunately I was at least able to retrieve his body and had him buried in a pet cemetery. He had been wonderful his entire life and nobody in that place cared about him in the least. He was just another dog to do away with to them.

She was incredibly accommodating, thorough, and willing to answer my many questions. She and her staff followed up with me every day to check up on Cooper's progress. Unfortunately, our little guinea didn't make it, but we knew we could count on Oak Hills to let him rest in guinea heaven. In our first visit, Dr. Burright assured us that if the time did come, that she would personally supervise Cooper was asleep before he was put down and that he would have company all along. She was very compassionate, as was the rest of her staff. BUT THIS IS WHAT MEANT THE WORLD TO ME... After Cooper was taken into the euthanasia room, Dr. Burright returned to tell us that it was indeed the right and humane decision to let him rest for good. She confirmed all of my suspicions about his progress not being enough to kick his illness and ensured I felt good about what was undoubtedly a very tough decision. Words can't explain just how much that means to hear from a professional, especially at a time of such heartache. Letting your pet go is never easy, but I felt at total peace knowing Dr. Burright and her staff were looking after Cooper until his last seconds. If they hadn't already done the world for him, they also sent us a flower arrangement the next day to express their condolences. We were touched. I can't recommend a veterinary clinic any more than I do Oak Hills, they are First Class.

After the teeth cleaning, they came back and said that our Porkie (Pomeranian/Yorkie) needs all her teeth extracted and that it would cost over $7,000. This is on top of the monthly payments, medications, and specialty food I purchased for her for weight control. I decided to get a second opinion because we definitely could NOT afford that price as senior citizens in their mid 70's. The new Clinic only removed a couple of teeth from her and charged me under $500. I called to cancel in November. The puppy was paid up on the charges, but I owed one more month, December, for the other one. I paid for the required December coverage, but it was then closed, and I had a new vet to take care of these little precious dogs. In January, I received a NEW BILL! The price was for $279.40, I still owed, they said. What? I paid for everything owed, including the price of the "Optium Wellness Plan," at the time of service. I did not have them bill me. They had me pay while I was in the clinic. I blame this company on its corporate business plan of ripping off the public, not on those who follow orders and do not use their intelligence to figure out the mistakes. VCA Pet Hospital on Commercial is far better than this hospital. The clinic I have moved to is Hoffmans on Lancaster, and they are fantastic, reasonable, and everyone is considerate and sharp in being able to help you and your pets receive excellent care. I never complain, but over the years it seems so many companies are ripping off the public, and it is time we say ..." NO MORE!"

I had (yes, I say "had") but I'll get to that, a beautiful Malamute/Husky (heavy on the Malamute side). We moved here and needed a new vet. I thought I could take the recommendation of of someone I thought I could trust but, oh was I wrong. I took her to Banfield to get her all signed up and meet the people she would be working with. Everybody seemed nice and helpful and she didn't give off any signs that anything was wrong, I should have been paying attention. When they weighed her they got her breed wrong, told me she was horribly overweight and wanted me to make an appointment to be checked up on after "Dr," had seen her. I tried to explain that she was a mixed breed but they blew me off. Then someone (I didn't know theír title and never learned who took the pets from here to there) came to get her and told me I had to wait; she was going alone. My baby came out and hid behind me (a behavior I had never seen before) and a person who identified themselves as a vet (no i.d., no proof of having graduated from a vetranariain school of any sort) told me my dog was massively overweight, told me a food I had to feed her and exactly how much and to come back in a month and she'd better have lost the weight.The years went by; some were good, some weren't, I reported every sign and signal the groomer gave me (yes, I trusted my groomer over my vet) but it didn't matter, they ignored me anyway. Then about 4 years ago things got really bad and despite my despairation, they still kept giving stupid advice, no advice, but the money kept rolling in for them. I asked people in Milwaukee, Keizer, New Jersey, for gosh sake! Then by a miracle, I got a recommendation right here. I took the first appointment they had open. People were awesome. They were surprised when I didn't get up to go with her so they said of course go with her. The technician was clearly labeled as such had started filling out her paperwork told me what a beautiful Malamute/Husky I had before I said a thing and then began to list some interesting facts about that mix. The x-ray (which had been taken down the hallway so I could see the whole procedure) was done and the vet (who was clearly identified as such and whose certificates and such were hung out in the lobby with everyone else who worked there) came to introduce herself, tell me what she thought about the vitals (technician with the facts had taken them) etc. As she was speaking, she put the film she had taken up, Her face changed as I looked at the film. I have studied enough anatomy and physiology to know what I was looking at, My baby girl's entire gut was full of cancer. My emotions: terror, sorrow, fear, and GUILT for letting this go on for HOW LONG? For me: as I said, guilt, horror, shock, pain in my heart, pain in my soul. 15 years, gone, because some idiots at Banfield couldn't do their job. They were speaking but weren't listening. I don't believe I've ever been so furious in my life. Then the surgeon (he had come down to talk to me too) said something to the effect of, oh well tomorrow was his day off but he'd come in anyway and see just what he could find. I believe I was lost in a fog until I went to pick her up the following day. Nobody looked good. They asked if I wanted to see what they had found; I did, Does anyone reading thís know what a 3 plus pound tumorous mass look like? I hope they let me put up a picture. I know some of you have fur babies who only weigh this much in total! Please don't take them to Banfield.The surgeon said he had taken all he could but if he had taken any more, she wouldn't have enough of a liver to survive. If the remaining tumors were fast, she had 3 weeks. If they were slow, 3 months. I gave her the best 3 weeks I knew how. She made it! I was ecstatic. I continued following all advíce and suggestions, 3 months came, looking good. Almost overnight everything went to hell. First, incontinence; I had 8 bowls of water in the house and 2 outside that I could barely keep filled. Then the food, she would only eat one type of canned food and that was only half a can a day. And watermelon cubes. Then the diarrhea every day, all the time. Then the loss of use of her back legs. They just went out from under her. She went over the Rainbow Bridge that night. I wonder if just one of those unnamed people at Banfield would have listened to me or bothered to learn about the breeds of animals they were "caring" for or done any damned thing except send me bills, my baby would still be alive, I had a talk with the surgeon. It could have been detected, it could have had treatments.If I hadn't KILLED her by taking her to Banfield. If you have a fur baby who is the light of your life, please, Please stay away from Banfield!

We literally walked in without an appointment as our Shiba had ingested some cherry laurel berries from a neighbor's tree. She was wobbly and threw up so we knew it was urgent. Dr Harley Johnson and her team were wonderful. She even took extra time to research and confirm we had the right plant and wanted to ensure we didn't take any unnecessary steps or incur any charges we didn't need. I would definitely come back here for any emergency or speciality care!

I found the entire staff very supportive and helpful. In both cases, there really wasn't anything to be done, both cats were elderly and sick, and I knew I was bringing them in for the last time. I really appreciated the staff and the vet's care, one cat had end stage renal disease, and the vet was very informative and caring about what his labs meant, etc. They have a very nice room set aside for those who are saying goodbye to their pets. I realize my experience doesn't have anything to do with acute problems in younger animals that may need surgery, etc., but I was impressed with the compassion and with the speed in which they took care of both of my cats when we were experiencing end of life choices.
