I love this place! I've been taking my pets to them since 2006 and never once had the feeling anyone is motivated by money (as one commenter claimed). To the contrary, more often than not, they give you a break and they charge you on a cost-only basis rather than profit basis. I'm also not aware of any type of mark-up of their drugs (and I do shop around when faced with expensive meds). My pug is a frequent visitor/patient there. Some months he will go nuts with ailments and I'll end up bringing him in every other week. Since he turned 8, he's got diagnosed with epilepsy, allergies (to everything it seems), has chronic IBD, and seems prone to injuries of whatever kind and depending on which way the wind blows.... He needs to be bubble wrapped. And so does my wallet. Dr. Putnam, Dr. Fischer, Dr. Kristen, are truly the only vets I trust implicitly with my pug (and with my credit card). Because I'm busy myself, I usually just drop him off in the morning with his "injury du jour" and they will examine him throughout the day and do their diagnostics reasonably and in a manner consistent with the best interests of my pug. Love, love, love them. They are the best.

I've been working temporarily in the area and have my little doggie friend with me. These folks have been a godsend for little Clyde's care. He's had routine care and even major dental work here. The staff are attentive and great with animals. They've also managed to adhere to COVID safety guidelines most efficiently with pickup and drop off from and to my car. All the staff have been wonderful and,, though I've never actually met the doctor, I have complete confidence in her skills. She runs a great place.

This place is amazing. They are efficient, communicative, thorough and most of all love your pets! I started going here a few years ago when my dog Bella got sick. When the doctor gave me the news about Bella we cried together. When she passed the entire office sent a card and That really meant the world to me. It wasn't just signed by the office each person wrote a sweet note. Taking your dog to vet or going to any doctor is never high on my list of fun but I appreciate the staff here very much and drive from SB 20 min because they feel like family. I would 1000 percent recommend this place!

Thank you to everyone on the team at AMC!…read more I moved to Hawaii from Santa Barbara and was able to easily handle all of the required paperwork and rabies vaccinations with the help and guidance of the staff of AMC. When I arrived in Honolulu Hawaii yesterday I was able to walk off the plane with my dog without any problems. AMC has been the primary veterinarian for my dog since he was a puppy and I have always had great service, easy appointment setting, clear directions on care and medication, and a followup/checkup call from the staff after neuter surgery. Prices are extremely fair for regular maintenance and checkups, I definitely recommend AMC for your dog or cat.

By day 4 he succumbed to acute blindness. How a vet was not alarmed seeing the dosage on the bottle is beyond me. Ophthalmologist verify our cat is completely irreversibly blind due to its toxicity. I've had vets for over 30 years and never had anyone been this gross negligent. Another woman shared on my Nextdoor post that her dog was prescribed antibiotic by this same vet and caused fatal internal bleeding. Fatal. It makes me wonder what kind of vet this woman is. She's only been there since Feb 2023, just a short 3 years. There may be other cases we don't know about. Beware. If you choose them, you should really google info and ask PetMD about the meds/dosage. I did file a complaint with VMB. CA law does not punish vet malpractice unless it's proven to be intentional. VMB is a division of the Department of Consumer Affairs. They will investigate and do have a measure of accountability from citing fines, to further training, to probation, to protocol requirements, to suspension and revoking license. Pet owners need qualified medical professionals treating our pet family members.

Now that I know Dr. Oliver is practicing at Animal Medical Clinic in Carpinteria I am relieved and happy to drive to Carpinteria for her services. It is a much friendlier and more efficient clinic than St.Francis. Dr. Oliver is by far the best small animal doctor I have ever had. She is kind, listens closely to what I tell her about my dog, Barkley, and is so gentle with him. After she examines Barkley she explains what tests might be indicated and after she reaches a diagnosis she explains clearly to me what treatment options we have and her recommendations. Previously at White's Animal Hospital in Santa Barbara, Dr. Oliver currently practices at St. Francis Pet Clinic, also in Santa Barbara. She attained her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from UC Davis, following an earlier career as a neuroscientist. Wow is this woman accomplished and one sharp thinker! My dogs all ADORE Dr. Oliver (my now elderly Pibble girl will only go willingly to this particular DVM--says "no" to other/Specialists!). She has cared for them all, both multiple Rescue Dogs and my own, with gentle warmth, caring, and insightful professionalism. In particular, I appreciate that Dr. Oliver collaborates so closely with her human clients in every step of the decision-making process. She promotes the "gold standard" level of care, but is also understanding and creative if finances will not permit this. Dr. Oliver is a true scientist, following current literature closely (evidence-based medicine), rather than "the way we've always done it" approach. She is open to and incorporates (proven) alternative & complementary therapies into her practice also. In other words, look no further--she's the best!

Tip: arrive right before they open at noon. We waited about five minutes and were seen immediately. The initial exam fee was around $140. The facility is incredibly clean and modern, and every staff member we interacted with was professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely kind. They took their time answering all of my questions and clearly explained my options without any pressure- outlining both the minimum recommended testing and additional tests purely for reassurance. Lab work revealed mild pancreatitis. Bentley received fluids and anti-nausea medication, and we went home with antibiotics, digestive support, and prescription food to support his recovery. I left feeling confident that he was truly cared for from every angle. While the visit was more expensive than I initially expected, it was absolutely worth it. I walked out with answers, clarity, and peace of mind- and I would not hesitate to bring Bentley back here again.

Although they wanted to meet with me to go over the treatment and meds before I left, they forgot to put an antibiotic medicine dispenser in my bag, and three separate times I had to remind them to go back and give my (feral) cat his first dose of antibiotics, and flea meds, and remind them again to check for worms. After taking her to the Veterinarian ASAP, they examined her and told me that they could perform surgery which could be around $10,000 or more and they couldn't guarantee she would be well after. I was devastated, as I knew I didn't have that kind of money, but was not about to give up on Lucy D, after all she was part of my family. Friends told me to contact Santa Paula Animal Rescue (SPARC) as that's where Lucy rescued me in 2014. Talk about Angels on Earth, SPARC had the director of the origination contact me and she in turn connected me to Junia Childs, DVM. When I arrived for the appointment Dr. Child's put me right at ease, Lucy was then placed on a mat, and Dr. Child's brought out two sets of sunglasses and handed me pair ,she explained that she was going to use an infrared light on Lucy, by placing it at the back of ear and that Lucy would be totally relaxed. The cynic in me, inwardly rolled my eyes like "yeah, right" as Lucy is a wiggle worm by nature, injured or not.... but mid eye roll, my mouth dropped open and Lucy went lax on the mat... Say what? Next came the acupuncture, she placed needles on Lucy's spine to the back of her left leg which is where the injury originated, and not one peep out of my girl or wiggle. Total appointment took 30 minutes, procedure was $250... and get this Lucy was well again, she was back to herself within days and I didn't have to go into complete debt for a surgery that might not have worked in the long run. So if you have a pet with back issues, or other aches and pains, always look for alternatives, I'm a total believer now. Dr. Child's definitely changed this cynics mind and I'm forever grateful for her kindness, and healing touch!
