So happy to have found an exotic vet close to home. Dr. Moore and her staff were very gentle in handling my rabbits even when my Lionhead was being very feisty and didn't make it easy of them to examine her. When I Googled vets that would even see my four turtles, only two came up. One was Dr. Moore and the other, a large animal hospital. Took the second one due to it being closer to my work, and my baby turtle paid the ultimate price due to being injected incorrectly. I took my three remaining turtles to Dr. Moore, who has been outstanding with them over the past five years. She and her staff are VERY knowledgeable about turtles. I highly recommend Dr. Moore for any pets, but my turtles have grown wonderfully under her care. They are the absolute BEST! I will never take my turtles anywhere else! In response to Karen: This isn't the impression the form gives. I understand why you want to treat for fleas, but the way you phrase it sounds aggressive and it's concerning. The process to get an appointment (filling out a form to request an appointment, being sent something so I have to go on a chat, then having them send me the form for my first appointment, then filling out the form) wasn't simple ... but it is what it is and I could have lived with that (as well as the fact that I couldn't come inside). My complaint is regarding the off-putting statement that you "WILL" give the pet treatment. I'm saying you should consider re-wording that because you lost at least one customer because of concerns. We just moved to Ventura and I was so excited there was a veterinary clinic within walking distance. It had good reviews, it's really cute and looked like it would be a good place. I went through the whole process of making the appointment online (which wasn't easy), did the chat that was required to give them our information, and I was filling out the new customer form. First off, it says on their website that the pet parent has to stay outside. While I'm not comfortable with this because I've never even been to the place or met anyone ... I could have lived with it. My problem is on the form it says: "Flea and Tick Policy: If the patient enters the facility with fleas (flea dirt, fleas etc), to protect other patients and prevent an infestation here at Moore Veterinary Care, we WILL apply or give flea treatment to the patient and you will be responsible for the $15 charge for the treatment." This is SUCH and off-putting statement. It feels aggressive and sounds like they think they have superior rights to make decisions for my pet. In addition, I'm VERY careful with flea treatment as some are known to cause serious side effect including seizures and death and this would mean THEY choose what brand as well without my approval. For them to tell me I'm not allowed in, and then say "we WILL" give the dog the treatment (basically "whether you like it or not") concerns me a LOT. Perhaps they should say the dog would either need to leave the facility or the owner can choose to get the flea treatment in order for them to stay. I've never seen one flea or one sign of fleas on my dog, so it's not like I'm protecting my dog who has fleas. It's just that it's a aggressive statement that makes me worry about what else they might decide to do without my permission. I really wanted to love this place so I'm sad to get such a concerning first impression, but I'll find a vet that I feel more confident in. read more

I called a few places to get my chiweenie seen for 2 abscesses on her rectum from the lack of her groomer not telling me they stopped expressing her glands. I called and they squeezed me in. Dr. Moore did a thorough exam on my dog and even checked for other things.treated her for an ear infection, her flea treatment and even checked her teeth(plague issues) I am SO SO SO happy with the treatment and care provided by the staff. Salem had surgery that SAME DAY! They even followed up with me multiple times to check on Salem to make sure she was okay. Although it's a bit of a drive for us since we're in Oxnard we've decided to make this clinic our new vet. We're very happy with the love and care provided by the staff. We just moved into the area in July and the first thing we did was find a vet for our 12 year old standard golden doodle. He was having some issues for a while before we moved but it wasn't until we found Dr. Moore. She got to the root of his issues. Unfortunately he required surgery but he made it through ok. We are now looking at some issues that older pup are bound to go through and this time is really hard for us. But from the moment we met Dr. Moore and her wonderful, caring staff we knew we were in the right place. It says a lot when your pup is excited to see them as much as they seem to want to see him. Truly someone who cares about animals! Dr. Moore in Ventura was so compassionate and kind with our situation. She handled our rabbit, Oreo, in such a loving and caring way, which meant so much to us. She and her assistant were doing all they could to make Oreo calm and comfortable during his appointment-- petting his head and speaking softly... so sweet. We originally (frantically) called at least 10 other vets in Ventura County and she was the only willing to book our appointment right away. Unfortunately Oreo, had a health issue which would have caused him great pain for the rest of his life-- she provided us with all of our options with honestly and clarity. Never pushing one avenue, but rather allowing us to make the very best decision for our family. We ultimately decided to euthanize our sweet boy, which was an extremely difficult decision. But Dr. Moore and her staff left some flowers in the box with our boy, which meant the world to us. We're beyond grateful for the 5 years we had with Oreo. And we're so grateful for Dr. Moore's care. The only teeny, tiny recommendation I have is, I wound have loved to say goodbye to our boy. Although I understand, we had an urgent matter and our sweet boy was suffering. COVID procedures may have impacted protocol as well. I would have loved to give him a quick hug goodbye. But I have great peace of mind knowing he was with someone so caring and loving in the last moments of his life. Thank you, Dr. Moore and staff. I often look to yelp for opinions but this is my first review I felt important enough to leave. Our dog is a member of our family so when we came home to find his toenail torn sideways and bleeding we felt this was somewhat of an urgent matter. Upon calling his long-standing veterinarian they were able to get him in but were going to charge an astronomical extra fee to see him for an appointment time they already had available for any other regular visit simply because they knew we were of need. I had been feeling frustrated due to pricing for awhile at that vet so I decided to call around and found Moore Veterinary. Moore Veterinary was able to fit us in the same day also with a minimal urgent service fee (which was quite understandable as they were doing us the favor). Their customer service was excellent, their knowledge and explanation was on point, their time and dedication to each client was appreciated, and I felt my dog was given the care he deserved. I have already referred friends to Moore Veterinary and have transferred my dog's files over to their care. They have our business! read more

Excellent Vet. Dr. After examining your pet, Dr. Moore is going to tell you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear! She is an advocate for your pet's health, period! How you feel, what you think, what treatments you agree with or not, what you are willing to pay for or not are irrelevant. She'll give you her prognoses. You can agree, follow her advise for treatments, or not. In addition, she appears to be diligently vested in her profession, i.e., is aware of the latest diagnoses and animal treatment methods. For example, she is one of VERY FEW DVM's in the State (CA) that is apparently aware of and offers canine cancer screening (OncoK9; 2023). The Onco test was made commercially available in February 2023. Our previous vet (of 10+ years) and emergency hospital vets were not aware of this screening in July 2023. read more

This morning I was frantic trying to find a vet for my guinea pig who was peeing blood. My regular vet had a 3 week waiting list and if I wanted to come in early, it would require an emergency appointment, which costs an extra $100. I gladly would have paid it but wanted to see if any other vet would be able to help me in the meantime. I left a message for Moore Vet on their website last night, had a callback in the morning, and they were able to squeeze me in between their appointments for today. Even though their facility is not as high-tech as other vets I've been to, I TRULY appreciate their flexibility to fit me in the day of, their openness to my concerns, and their care of my guinea pig. Dr Moore and her staff were extremely knowledgeable and professional. We recently started taking our 2 year old anxious, mixed breed rescue dog there. Originally, we took her to a vet near the shelter we adopted her from but we were looking to take her somewhere a little closer to home. I was so impressed with how thorough she was! As a medical professional myself I have extremely high standards for the medical care my family (even the 4 legged members) receive. I was beyond pleased with the care she received. As I mentioned, our pup has anxiety and she did very well with the staff. After trying many solutions to help her cope with her anxiety, we decided to try her on some medication. Since starting her on the medication Dr. Moore prescribed she has improved tenfold. Dr.Moore followed up a week after starting her on the medication to monitor her progress. The office is located in the beautiful historic downtown Ventura. The office is well kept and very clean. It is quaint and it feels like the staff know all their clients personally which we love. At our dogs previous vet, she was seen by multiple vets. Overall, I can't say enough good things about Dr. Moore's veterinary office. We have interacted with Jasmine,Sonya, and Dr. Moore and all are great! I highly recommend taking any of your animals there. read more

UPDATE: Dr. Moore's response to this review is BS. The woman never completed a residency in exotic animals and on top of that was handling my bunny with the help of an unlicensed vet tech. His death was not a freak accident but the result of negligence and ineptitude. SHE IS CURRENTLY UNDER INVESTIGATION BY THE STATE MEDICAL BOARD. Dr. Moore MURDERED my rabbit. He came in perfectly healthy for a checkup, he left DEAD. This woman should NOT be trusted with animals. Please never, ever take your pets here. My rabbit died as a result of being mishandled by a vet who allegedly specializes in exotic animals. How do you NOT know that rabbits squirm and get stressed out during exams? How are you not prepared to deal with this extremely common behavior in animals who claim to know how to treat? My bunny is DEAD now because of you. I am going to make sure you lose your license. I can't believe we ever trusted you with our precious animals. I hope this day haunts you for the rest of your life, Dr. Moore. Do not take your pet to Dr. Moore's veterinary clinic. Barnabus, our rabbit, was killed there yesterday. He was only 3 years old and perfectly healthy. We took him in to Moore Veterinary Clinic here in Ventura for a check up and urinalysis. Due to very poor handling by Dr. Moore and her staff, they caused Barnabus to go into shock. He died within minutes in their care. The last thing I heard was a loud squeal from Barnabus. I was in complete shock. I didn't know what to say or how to react. I patted him on the head before they took him to the back for the urinalysis, then minutes later I was looking at his dead body. He had bonded mates that he does not get to return to and they don't get to understand his absence. I can't recommend you avoid Moore Veterinary clinic enough. If you don't believe me, then at the very least NEVER let them take your pet out of your sight. I have been going to that clinic for the past few years. I felt safe there for my pets and enjoyed friendly conversations with Dr. Moore. Her and I chatted beforehand for a while before she was delivering Barnabus's dead body to me. She in no way took responsibility and simply explained it away as a freak accident. This is someone who I was always friendly with. Afterwards she had the audacity to say "sorry for your loss". As if Barnabus died of natural causes and she wasn't responsible for any of it. It was a betrayal. I was in shock and had no words. This is a senseless tragedy and we are still mourning and dumbfounded by it. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET TO MOORE VETERINARY CLINIC. I fear for the safety of any animals that enter there. If a veterinarian and her staff cannot do a simple thing such as handle an animal safely, how can you possibly trust Dr. Moore's judgment and diagnosis? read more

I found this new caring doctor about 6 months ago. My dog had an ear infection and they were able to get me in on the same day. I didn't have to wait and Dr. Moore's assistant was very caring. I met Dr. Moore and she gave me meds and gave me great suggestions for keeping my dog healthy. I went in today to have a wellness check and get shots. Again, I was greeted by the doctor and her assistant. My dog had a great bill of health but I mentioned that he was rubbing his bum. She suggested a gland check and we found out that his glands were not being expressed by his groomers. This can be very serious and I am so thankful to Dr. Moore for pursuing this health issue and saving my dog from further health issues. Started coming here in 2019. Dr Moore wasn't the warm fuzzy type of person but cared for our pets with compassion. Our 18.5 yo dog was up there in age and started to have health issues, which required emergency visits, long waits and no bedside manner by staff has made me decide to go elsewhere especially with the suggestion from the staff for our other pets. "If you want you can go somewhere else, we'll be happy to send your files". My Paco started having 3-6 seizures a day with the prescribed medication and to be told this, I sure hope Dr Moore DIDN'T know about this because it would be a shame if she did. Had our baby euthanized and cremated through Rainbow to Heaven 9/2021. NEVER heard back from Dr Moore's office on how he was doing. I came here with my Yorkie a year ago They served her well. Then I called them because my puppies deciduous teeth weren't falling out. A common problem. I spent 800$ dollars to have teeth pulled. This vet never had the decency to speak to me face to face. People can make money hand over fist. That's fine but a "doctor " should speak personally to the pets owner. My puppy ended up getting an allergic reaction and had a breakout of hives and I brought here for the first time. I dont write many reviews but I commend the staff at Moore Veterinary care. They were very professional and the vet was very thoughtful and explained in detail what the potential causes of the breakout was and the steps taken to recovery. Also, i wanted to add I have a pit mix and one of the other patients handler announced out loud that she didn't want to be on the property until the pitbull was gone.
