    My bunny

They were amazing with my bunny. Really cute small place. Doctor was very knowledgeable. Not over priced. Affordable pet care.

My female Eastern Box Turtle, MoonLight.

When I Googled vets that would even see my four turtles, only two came up. One was Dr. Moore and the other, a large animal hospital. Took the second one due to it being closer to my work, and my baby turtle paid the ultimate price due to being injected incorrectly. I took my three remaining turtles to Dr. Moore, who has been outstanding with them over the past five years. She and her staff are VERY knowledgeable about turtles. I highly recommend Dr. Moore for any pets, but my turtles have grown wonderfully under her care. They are the absolute BEST! I will never take my turtles anywhere else! They will be six years old this November, and I have no doubts about their health.

Cone of shame lol but she's okay!!

I called a few places to get my chiweenie seen for 2 abscesses on her rectum from the lack of her groomer not telling me they stopped expressing her glands. I called and they squeezed me in. Dr. Moore did a thorough exam on my dog and even checked for other things.treated her for an ear infection, her flea treatment and even checked her teeth(plague issues) I am SO SO SO happy with the treatment and care provided by the staff. Salem had surgery that SAME DAY! They even followed up with me multiple times to check on Salem to make sure she was okay. Although it's a bit of a drive for us since we're in Oxnard we've decided to make this clinic our new vet. We're very happy with the love and care provided by the staff. Thank you so much Dr and staff for taking care of my baby during a very stressful time

Love Dr. Moore and her staff. So glad to have an exotic vet to take care of my bearded dragons. She is very thorough and takes her time during the exam, and she is careful with her words and makes you feel like you are in the drivers seat with regard to your pets care. Staff are amazing, they were able to squeeze me in for an emergency visit when my girl was sick.

We just moved into the area in July and the first thing we did was find a vet for our 12 year old standard golden doodle. He was having some issues for a while before we moved but it wasn't until we found Dr. Moore. She got to the root of his issues. Unfortunately he required surgery but he made it through ok. We are now looking at some issues that older pup are bound to go through and this time is really hard for us. But from the moment we met Dr. Moore and her wonderful, caring staff we knew we were in the right place. It says a lot when your pup is excited to see them as much as they seem to want to see him. I would definitely recommend them and if we decide to add another pup to our lives that's where we will take them.

Oreo is to the right. We miss our sweet boy. Thank you, Dr. Moore, for your compassion and care.

She also contacted us after our visit to check in and was very compassionate and attentive with all of our concerns. Because of her quick findings at our most recent visit, we were able to get our dog scheduled for surgery at a specialty center that same week to have the issue resolved. Now our dog's quality of life is back to normal, and we couldn't be happier. They are also very clear about costs, including explaining all of our options for diagnostics and treatment. The staff at Oaks Veterinary were very kind to us and sat us in a semiprivate room up front while Dr. Jimenez did some tests on our kitten (he's 12, but he'll always be our kitten). The diagnosis was Feline Idiopathic Cystitis and we were sent home with a variety of medicines, some cans of prescription urinary care food, and orders to follow up with our primary vet in about a week for more tests. Everything was pretty pricey at $1700, so I appreciated that they gave us the cans of food for free (which our primary vet didn't do when we eventually followed up). They also sent the records over to our primary vet, which I appreciated. I had to follow up with the office staff about getting copies of the records for myself and, when I reached out with concern about how long it should be taking Atticus to recover, it took about 5 days to get back to me. Those are the only reasons it's not 5 stars. Lots of parking and food places nearby if you need to wait.

They examined her, treated the wound, prescribed medication, and even trimmed her nails at our request. We were back in the car in about two hours. The total cost for the exam, treatment, prescriptions, and nail trim came to just under $500, which we felt was very reasonable for emergency care. Prices were quoted nearly four times higher. For my dog, we have always done a single-view X-ray. However, Cody insisted on doing a three-view X-ray, which would have cost almost $1,300. I asked if it was possible to do the single view, as I've done for years with the other doctor. Cody responded by saying I am not a doctor and that if I wasn't happy, I could go somewhere else. I honestly did not feel any compassion from him and found him to be cold and dismissive. When I mentioned I would leave a review, he said he didn't care and told me to go ahead. After being turned away in Ventura by an emergency room that clearly could not see the severity of my dogs illness, I ended up at VCA. As I sat waiting, a huge rush came in, and I noticed the receptionist, Kate, handed everything with care but speediness. She got all of us taken care of in the order of severity and I can not thank her enough for listening and seeing the pets for what they needed, unlike the other facility I had been to. Once I was seen, a lovely gal named Cheyenne came to get my pups vitals and she was so calm and sweet. She talked to me like a real life person and not some frantic pet mom, which put me immediately at ease. Dr Duran was the vet for intake and she was so helpful in not wasting my time or money in tests that were unnecessary, but still enough to figure out what was going on with my poor boy. She came up with a game plan and sent me off until his X-rays were back. Even at 2:30 AM when I came back in for updates, both her and Cheyanne were lively and intent on helping me understand what was going on, something I could never do that early in the morning! My boy stayed with them for two nights (36 hours) and I have never had so much peace of mind in such a scary situation. They got him treated and loved, which is all I could ask for! So we jumped up to check on Him and start the search for what He might have gotten into. We searched the room that He'd come out of and spotted the unopened bag of candy laying on the floor... The candy He'd gotten into was a bag of candy that had Xylitol (Poison for dogs) in it. We were Horrified! So we jumped into action, called the closest Emergency Pet Hospital in Goleta, Ca. they were no help us...nor did they recommend a hospital that would. So we continued the search on our own...frightened that we wouldn't get Him there in time. We finally found a Pet Emergency Hospital in Santa Maria Ca. about 2 hrs away that warned us to get there as quickly as we could and they would wait for us. When we arrived, They had already spoken to Poison control and were all and ready to start on him. When we arrived, the woman behind the front desk was clearly waiting for us. So she alerted the Doctor on call who was ready and handed the bag of the Xylitol candy over to them to see exactly what we found. They were prepared and ready to work on getting the poison out of his system. Before his liver was damaged. We were pretty shaken by the time we arrived but they were amazing... they explained the process that they has to take and assured us that they would keep us apprised of how things were going and what would be next. We were immediately made aware of what was necessary to get him out of danger and what would come next. We were trying to breathe normally and act like grown ups but not sure we pulled it off. So we waited and told often how He was responding and what would be next, with time commitments, et al. The other thing that is really was the most impressive to us was the treatment that we were given throughout the entire visit. We've over the years, had dogs, cats, and not once did we see refreshments for those of us waiting for any news while the time passed. In an emergency situation, the last thing you think about is eating. But, there were chips, cokes, coffee provided to help us all get through the long night. The women here were comforting, positive, and available for any and all questions at any time. After my dog ingested a cord, she developed indigestion followed by significant discomfort when swallowing. To avoid the overcrowding at my local emergency veterinary hospital, I drove her to PETS, hoping she would receive timely, quality care. Unfortunately, my experience at PETS was one I wish I could have avoided. From poor time management and communication to feeling as though maximizing revenue was prioritized over appropriate patient care, the entire visit left me with very little confidence in the team. I understand that veterinarians are obligated to discuss all available treatment options. However, I also believe an experienced and ethical physician should use clinical judgment to recommend what is medically necessary rather than presenting every possible intervention when the ultimate conclusion remains the same. Had I not had a medical background, I believe my visit could have easily exceeded $2,000. I also felt pressured through fear-based conversations. Rather than using her experience to provide reassurance and guidance, Dr. Chu repeatedly emphasized worst-case scenarios and strongly encouraged hospitalization overnight. As the evening progressed and I witnessed repeated delays and poor follow-through, I lost trust in her recommendations and in the team's ability to care for my dog. I arrived around 5:00 p.m. I gave verbal authorization for subcutaneous fluids and chest X-rays early in the visit. However, the X-rays were not performed until nearly 7:00 p.m., and the fluids were not administered until I was preparing to leave around 1:00 a.m.--approximately eight hours after I arrived. Waiting more than five hours for treatment that had already been authorized was unacceptable. The experience left me with more questions than answers. After speaking with my primary veterinarian, I realized much of the uncertainty I experienced appeared to stem from a lack of confidence and clinical judgment rather than the complexity of my dog's condition. This experience added unnecessary stress during an already emotional situation. Thankfully, my nursing background helped me ask the right questions, advocate for my dog, and avoid additional expenses that I did not feel were justified. I hope this review helps other pet owners make an informed decision. No one should have to question whether their pet is receiving timely, appropriate, and trustworthy care during an emergency.

I know he would've been stressed being left alone in a cage for almost 2 days and that could've affected his recovery. thank you to everyone who was so sweet to him giving him love and attention. he literally was purring his whole time here & he was actually a little upset to leave.

I just had a "WOW" experience at URGENT VETERINARY CARE Santa Barbara! My dog became non-weight…read morebearing lame on a back leg last night after running around the yard-I assumed he injured his ACL. However in the morning I noticed he had several "foxtails" embedded in his pajamas (hairless dog - wears clothes on cool days) then I noticed the swelling between back toes and knew he had a foxtail. I called my friends at St. Frances Animal Hosp but they were swamped with only one vet and closing soon... but they told me about UVC - I drove over and within an hour we were done! My pup as recovering from sedative, foxtail in a test tube to share as a warning to friends and neighbors and a GREAT experience with highly skilled staff and professional, friendly, experienced and well trained veterinarian. What a welcome practice added to SB! Walk-in Urgent Care Vet for non-critical emergency care at its best! KR, (DVlong time SB resident.

So annoyed at that Urgent Veterinary Care technician and management team. I have a feral cat who…read morehad a bloody external ear wound with alopecia. Without running any tests the vet came back and said it might be cancer. I acknowledged that may be the case but thought it was alarmist and premature to say that. The technician came back after cleaning the ear up to say they at this point they do agree it's a wound with possible infection, not cancer. Although they wanted to meet with me to go over the treatment and meds before I left, they forgot to put an antibiotic medicine dispenser in my bag, and three separate times I had to remind them to go back and give my (feral) cat his first dose of antibiotics, and flea meds, and remind them again to check for worms. They also forgot to give me topical antiseptic pads so I can clean the wound. I think they are training young interns who have no idea what they are doing.

My dog Bear had dental surgery in late May (from a different hospital), as recommended by his vet…read more Over the next and subsequent weeks, Bear's health declined rapidly. He was diagnosed with pancreatitis and at one point I thought he wouldn't make it. He is finally on the mends and past the worst of it (nearly 3 weeks later), but I am so grateful for the team at VCA Veterinary Specialists of the Valley. I took him to this ER 2 times over the course of 2 weeks. They always answered my calls (no matter the hour) and were patient and understanding with me. Bear visited them twice (fluids, ultrasound, pain meds, etc.) and you can tell the entire team really cares about their patients. They're very responsive, knowledgeable, and helped ground me when I was spiraling about Bear's condition. I am grateful for their help during a very stressful time. They are expensive, but they talked me through various options and Bear received the best care.

I wish I could give this place zero stars. My poor dog was extremely sick, and I was already…read moreterrified and emotional when I rushed her in. The staff immediately sensed my panic and, instead of being compassionate, they preyed on my fear to push expensive, unnecessary treatments. They prescribed oral antibiotics instead of giving an injection, even though they knew (and admitted) that oral meds would take significantly longer--hours to days--to reach effective levels in her system. Then, in the very next breath, they pressured me hard to hospitalize her overnight for "close monitoring," claiming it was critical because she was "so sick." They conveniently failed to mention that the very medication they chose to give her wouldn't even start working properly during the time they wanted to keep her admitted. It felt like a blatant setup to rack up a huge overnight bill. I trusted them in a moment of desperation, and they exploited that trust without hesitation. My dog suffered longer than necessary because of their decision to go the slow route on purpose, and then they tried to scare me into an expensive hospitalization that wouldn't have even addressed the delay they created. The lack of transparency, the manipulative upselling, and the complete disregard for my dog's actual wellbeing left me horrified and heartbroken. This wasn't veterinary care; it felt like a calculated money grab. I will never step foot in a VCA again, and I'm in the process of filing complaints with the California Veterinary Medical Board, the Los Angeles County Department of Consumer and Business Affairs, the Better Business Bureau, and every other consumer protection agency I can find. If you care about your pet at all, do yourself a favor and go anywhere else. Avoid VCA at all costs.
