First off I found vc hair studios via social media, instragram to be exact. I read the reviews for vc hair studios and I also viewed her photos of styles and what she specializes in, I usually wear a twist out or get a weave installation(every blue moon). Long story short I booked an appointment after contacting Valerie through Instagram and from there everything was great. I booked for a weave install which included the works(wash,condition/moisturize and install. I even got my ends trim which I haven't had in quite awhile..... the install was great I went back for weave maintenance wash,condition,drying stitching if needed and styling. First install was Dec weave then weave maintenance the new growth was crazy after first install we were both surprised then another fresh install beginning of March! She's great and her spirit is uplifting and her personality is very caring. She actually cares about your hair. read more

It's now two months later and I still haven't received a refund. In the photos below are screenshots of the emails I sent to her, that she completely ignored as an adult. She had a service called weave maintenance priced at $200. For an additional $100, you could add crimps. For an additional $75, you could add wand curls. There was a promotion going on that week to get 50% off, so my final total would've been $137.50. During the service, I knock off points because she mentioned the state of my hair more than 3x, she didn't have patience to effectively detangle my hair which caused lots of shedding, informed me after she started applying heat that the crumpets weren't working, and lastly completely ignored my emails about a refund. Midway flat ironing my hair, she informs me that the crimpers weren't working and offered to straighten it instead. (Why did she start straightening my hair before asking the client what they wanted knowing your crimpers didn't work?) After seeing it straightened, she mentioned I could add wand curls but they wouldn't hold, and I agreed. After the appointment, I asked her how much I owed and she said $50. I gave her the $50 not remembering what I paid for. However, the service that I received was ( weave maintenance + wand curls). $200 + $75 =$275.00 and 50% of that is $137.50. I paid $200 and she owes me $62.50. This lady has posted on instagram and sent out more newsletters, but couldn't respond to my email. Im from the south and finding a good stylist here in Cali is like trying to win the lottery. I came across this studio on Insta because I really wanted microlinks. This was the closest I could find to decent without flying to the Bay to this one stylist or Atlanta to where I know I'll get slayed to the dragons. I booked a virtual consultation and paid the lil $50 like they required. I would've been a new client so I was expecting so much more than what I got. After booking my consultation, I got a confirmation email stating the date, time, and location. I was confused because the location said in person at the studio but I live in San Diego and I was not going to do that so I called the studio several times and left a message for no response back. So I got on IG and message them. They eventually responded and clarified that it would be virtual. Ok good, so now the next morning I was expecting to get a zoom link or something but I got nothing and here it was 9:30 and I had no way of accessing anything for my appointment. I called the studio no answer. I sent another message to IG and got a response hours later to my email that their wifi had been down and you know what look at the attached photo for Valerie's full response. Bruh she had posted on her Instagram two times after my scheduled 9:30 appointment wishing somebody happy birthday and some other post. While I'm sitting over her waiting for someone to reach out to me. Your "WiFi might've been down" but we're living in 2022 that excuse LIE is tired and need to be put to rest. My Mom had just passed away unexpectedly after having a heart attack, I text'd Val and told her I was too emotional and couldn't make my appointment 1 day before my scheduled appointment. She told me I could rebook within 15 days otherwise I would forfeit the $50 deposit. When I tried several times to rebook she offered 1 time slot that I was unable to make and didn't acknowledge any alternate dates or request First, what type of "heartless" professional business owner would restrict someone to 15 days after such a traumatic event. And Second, not acknowledging my request. I had used her several times and even drove all the way from San Diego to LA to patronage her. I usually don't write reviews but on May 19 I scheduled an appointment with Val for a full weave with Leave out. Now one thing I will say is her work on others are great but unfortunately my experience was a nightmare and my daughter prom was coming up. Here is my text message that I send Val: Hi Val, sadly I had to take my weave out last night the hair was just to thick and big and also the front sides were not flat when I tried to see if I could wear it in a ponytail. I noticed that the weave hair was double which caused the hair to not lay flat. So sad because I have my daughter prom tomorrow..... I was left on unread sadly with no reply back After taking the weave out my the braid foundation was horrible compared to her other clients that were there that day. I even complemented her assistant on how well she braids meaning it was not tight or painful. Not knowing how it really looked smh. I also bought hair and gave her 10 tip. Money wasted. First time client and the service was just ok. I was in and out within a couple of hours which was a plus. The got a sew it. The flat iron was mediocre at best. It was not very straight. Less than a week later the corners of the folded tracks are not tacked down. When she was done, i was faced toward the mirror and stated it was ok. I was not wow'd it was just ok. EDIT to add... Today is day 9 and there are loose threads and hair that is not tacked down at all. Fortunate that I received a discount, but i guess you get what you pay for.
