Over the years, It had been water damaged, rotted, and repaired until we couldn't repair it anymore. We could not find anyone to replace it because the door was not a standard size, and the frame would only accommodate another interior door. Carlos & team modified our frame to accept an exterior door, installed a new door, new hardware, new threshold, weatherstripping, and painted the interior and exterior. We finally have a door that fits perfectly, does not let daylight or cold air in through gaps, and has not just two but three hinges . Carlos is a rare find - a real artisan. One of my double wood front doors was badly damaged and I thought I would have to replace both doors. But when Carlos looked at them he told me that would be unnecessary as he could repair the broken door. I have to admit I was skeptical but his painstaking attention to detail resulted in the door looking like new, with the breaks in the wood completely undetectable. I also assumed that both doors would have to be painted but Carlos said no, he could match the paint, which he did perfectly and he spent hours making sure it looked right. My old (1927) house was full of door issues; they wouldn't close easily, didn't seal well, and they let water into the house. Our basement door was an *interior* door that some past hobbyist had DIY'd into an exterior door--it was falling apart and didn't have a proper deadbolt, either. After the latest round of storms, our kitchen window was leaking badly as well. i was looking into replacing a couple of exterior storm doors put a request in through yelp. vc windows and doors was one of the businesses who responded quickly and was able to do a home estimate in a week. after they took measurements and a time frame and sent me a estimate later on. i settled on 2 fiberglass doors with no windows due to a lot break ins were broken windows are the main source of break ins since the pandemic started and also have the door jambs rebuilt because the previous contractor did a crappy job of building a door jamb. fiberglass doors took around 3 weeks to order because one door had to be custom cut due to non standard door size. carlos and his crew came on time, installed the door, locks, hinges, weather strip, replace door frame and jamb. they came well equipped with table saws, door jigs, pneumatic staple guns, drills, wore masks, etc. i was very satisfied with their workmanship after the job was done. i would highly recommend vc windows and doors if your need a door replaced as this is a hard working family owned business. read more
