Our 1937 Encanto-Palmcroft historic kitchen was screaming for an update! We took the time to…read moreresearch potential companies that might help us, get in-home estimates, and make a thoughtful decision about what to do without demolition. Our goals were better use of existing space, 21st century cabinets and drawers, and improved form, function and style. We contacted eight companies and requested information and quotes, and all were scheduled for in-home walk-throughs and estimates in the same week. We felt okay about about companies #4 and #7, but when Bill from Re-New Cabinets (our last appointment) came, our "okays" were immediately out the window and replaced by, "This is it, this is the one." Bill gave us everything we wanted to know on the spot, including a diagram of the soon-to-be updated kitchen with measurements, the upgrades and changes to the existing spaces, and the total cost (and that means final - no surprises later) including the breakdown of how the cost was determined.
Carlos, the owners' son, arrived within days to do a second set of measurements as a cross-check, because this company is as thorough, careful and detailed as it gets. No joke, they do everything as though it's for themselves and their homes! Carlos, like Bill, was absolutely engaging, down to earth, and kind. Next was a visit to the showroom to look at styles and talk about things like deciding on paint color, pulls and knobs, and scheduling. While there, we had the absolute pleasure of meeting and speaking with Arlette, one of the owners. She came out of a back room to introduce herself and thank us for being customers and trusting Re-New with our project. She expressed genuine gratitude and excitement for us to get an updated kitchen we will love. Arlette makes you feel like family - sounds corny, but it's true!
Veronica, the owners' niece, was able to come to the house and help us determine the right color of the new cabinets and drawers so that everything would seamlessly blend with our existing countertop, backsplash, walls and floor. She hit it out of the park, the match is perfect. She was positive, knowledgable, and a joy to work with!
Homero was the master craftsman who spent a full week bringing our project to life in real time, and he ran into serious quirks and issues due to the age and original construction of our kitchen. He plugged away meticulously, spent anywhere from 9-12 hours here five days in a row, and proved from Day 1 that his talent and commitment to excellence and detail was above and beyond! Robert, the other owner, stopped by while he was working away mid-week to provide some insights and ideas and say hello to us.
Thank you, Re-New Cabinets! Our updated and upgraded kitchen is more than we imagined and perfect for us, and it's added so much joy to our home. It is beautiful, the work is immaculate, and everyone we worked with at Re-New had a hand in making this the best experience possible, and without doubt the best experience we've ever had with a company doing work at our historic home. Re-New is local, family owned and operated, and they hire wonderful people to represent them inside of people's homes. We couldn't have met more genuine, transparent, highly communicative and helpful people if we tried. This company is full of integrity and kindness which is sadly rare in today's world. They stand by their work and their word. We will be contacting them in the future when we are ready to have a particular custom cabinet built (thinking next summer)!
