We chose Earthman Funeral Home Baytown, TX on a recommendation of a friend. Although my fathers funeral was preplanned, we ran into obstacles from the beginning with the cemetary, as well as the military for planning the proper services for my dad. Mary Boudion, General Manager of Earthman Baytown was there and ready to help us figure things out. When the cemetary was not cooperative with us on a burial day, Mary stepped in and handled the cemetary staff both professionally and quickly to resolve the problem. When I was losing my cool, she calmed me down and assured me it would all be taken care of. Kendrick Herron, Funeral Director, was also very helpful in the planning of dads funeral. Kendrick took over handling the issues with the Military and helped us find all the information we needed and gave us direction on how to get what we need for Dad. Jim helped us on the day of burial, he was prompt, courteous, and handled all the graveside services professionally. The facilities at Earthman Baytown are clean, well decorated, and large enough to accommodate our needs. The dining area across from the chapel worked nicely during the visitation and allowed our family and friends to have a break with good catered food and a comfortable atmosphere to sit and reminisce about dad, while still being close to him. The way every single person on his team was dressed (the garments were so nice) how they continuously presented themselves professionally. They made you feel like you were at the funeral of the President of the United States. (Although, I was told they have done it there before) I think the most impressive thing about this place was how they made the widow feel. In that moment during all the events he was 100% her biggest supporter and gave her the peace of mind she needed while she was grieving. He knew exactly what to do every single time. And he was such an all around nice guy. Very approachable. Great job to Geo H Lewis. I've attended many funerals and this one definitely raised the bar. When you die, the celebration of life is for those that are left behind.

The kind people at Gaitz agreed to meet us on Saturday to view the different marble colors, look at fonts & see actual headstones, etc. The office is shared with another business & easy to find. Ample parking in the front. Mr. Sandy Gaitz met us himself & showed us a mockup of what we had indicated in emails sent the previous week. Very nice & very patient. He talked us through all of the steps. Who knew they actually confer with a Rabbi on the Hebrew wording to make sure everything is correct. I guess once you get the stone carved you are stuck with it! Jewish owned, Sandy Gaitz previously owned a sign making company (4D Signworx which his sons operate at this time) & Sandy's former Hebrew teacher asked if he could make a headstone for her husband. Sandy realized that headstones were just another application of what he was already doing & realized there was a need for custom headstone design & production. Thus the start of helping people honor their loved ones.

By 1874, Glenwood was a recreational destination. A mule-drawn street railway operated on Washington Road, conveying people to Glenwood for weekend and holiday visits. Glenwood differs from most urban cemeteries of that time that had a grid pattern. Glenwood has meandering roads and trails and is beautifully landscaped. This historic cemetery is the final resting place of a number of individuals who were citizens of the short-lived Republic of Texas as well as famous citizens of Houston, Harris County and the state of Texas. One of the most famous buried here is Howard Hughes. The cemetery is a fun place to walk or bike ride, it's very shady so quite nice, even in summer. TDC took possession of the body about 4 hours after her death. Over the next week Victor was with us every step of the way. Because she died at home and we wanted cremation the Office of the Medical Examiner had to review the circumstances of her passing before issuing a permit for. Victor carefully explained the process and handled everything. We received her ashes 10 days after her death. The cost was very reasonable, exactly what they say on their website. This was very high quality service and I highly recommend TDC to anyone who believes in cremation and has suffered loss.
