Great service. Very kind and kept us informed with the process. We chose them for our fathers cremation.

David provided updates along the way to let us know the status of the cremation process, which was reassuring.

The $30 Lunch That Could Have Been Worth Thousands…read more Last week I received a beautifully printed invitation to a complimentary lunch at a nice restaurant -- a presentation by Neptune Society, a cremation pre-planning organization. I RSVP'd, confirmed my attendance, and looked forward to learning more. I was, in fact, a legitimate prospect. Then came the phone calls. An urgent message from their representative, insisting he needed to speak with me personally before the event. I was out of town for the weekend, but I called back the day after I returned -- exactly as promised. He didn't answer, so I left a message letting him know I'd see him the next day at lunch. Professional. Courteous. Done. What came next genuinely shocked me. A voicemail explaining that after further research, he had discovered I had attended a previous Neptune Society presentation years ago -- for my parents -- and since this event was strictly for first-time attendees, he had gone ahead and cancelled my reservation. No discussion. No alternative offered. Just -- cancelled. Now I want to be fair. I understand the business logic. These lunches cost money. He didn't want to "waste" a seat on someone who had already been through the pitch. Perfectly rational thinking -- on a spreadsheet. But here's what that spreadsheet didn't account for: I know from research that his company competes directly with other cremation organization, and that his company charges significantly more. I would have welcomed the chance to hear what sets Neptune Society apart from its lower-priced competitors -- especially since cremation itself is such a commodity service. That conversation could have justified the price difference. Now I'll never know. That lunch would have cost him perhaps $20-30. Instead, what it cost Neptune Society was a customer who will now go out of her way to choose someone else -- and who is writing about the experience in a post here, where many, many people can also see it and form their own opinions. The lesson for every sales professional and business owner reading this is simple: the moment a prospect feels discarded, the sale is dead -- and so is every referral they would have sent you. Treating people as line items rather than human beings is a false economy. A $30 lunch investment, versus a potential several thousand dollar pre-planned cremation contract -- plus referrals to every friend and family member facing the same decision -- is not even a close call. Elegance, dignity, and respect are not just nice values to have. In a business literally built around life's most sensitive moments, they ARE your entire brand. So I ask you -- how would you have felt? And if you were that representative, how would you have handled it differently?

Forest Park Southwest Cemetery - Dignity Memorial employees performing burial.

    Forest Park Southwest Cemetery

We attended the burial service for a loved one at Forest Park Southwest Cemetery in Richmond,…read moreTexas, a suburb west of Houston. The burial went smoothly and efficiently, and about as well as one could hope. From a guest perspective, everything appeared to be well organized. As soon as we drove onto the property, we were greeted by a Dignity Memorial employee who directed us where to park. The driveway goes in a big circle around the property and that's where all the cars parked, in tandem, one after another. The cemetery is big and it felt relatively "new" during our visit in that there was a lot of unused empty land without any graves. We parked on the north side of the property and walked south, past the central pond with three fountains, to get to our friend's final resting place. Final funeral services were performed under a canopy. After the service was over, all guests stepped away and watched as three Dignity Memorial employees performed the actual burial. This included breakdown of the canopy and casket-lowering equipment, placement of what appeared to be a concrete slab over the casket, and the dumping and shoveling of various types of soil and sand. Most of this required the use of heavy equipment. For example, at least three different vehicles were backed into the burial spot to aid the workers. It was rough to see our friend go out this way, but that's how burials go in my experience. Burials are not a sensitive or delicate matter. I've seen the same in Georgia -- the cemetery staff went about the burial in the same impersonal, routine manner. I understand they're just doing their jobs. On this particular day, the Dignity Memorial employees worked under the hot Texas sun when the temperature was in the mid 90s. I'm sure the heat index was right at or over 100. They were dressed in blue-collar workwear unlike the rest of us, who were formally dressed. After the service was over, my wife and I headed back to our car and prepared to return directly to the airport to return our car (rental) and board our flight. We were one of the last parties to leave the cemetery because I changed clothes and repacked some luggage. As I was finishing up, a Dignity Memorial employee drove up to us and told us they were doing another burial soon. She didn't want us to get stuck in the next wave of guests. I appreciated that. It was also a reminder of how much of a business the death care industry is.

At the funeral home in the cypress location the employees rushed us and were very insensitive to us saying our last goodbyes with the casket open. When we got to the cemetery the employees from the funeral home were rushing us once again because all the guests hadn't arrived yet. its not our fault the funeral home was a 30 minute drive from the cemetery.... Once my dad was buried the funeral home employee told us to pack up and go home. Even our guests were shocked to hear that comment. We stayed... fast-forward to now, I have visited my dad a few times and took two small items to place next to his stone. one was a plaque and one was a flower holder which ive seen on other head stones so I figured mines wouldnt be a problem. I WAS WRONG. My items were thrown to the trash, we did not receive a phone call or anything. So the items that i handpicked with such care and deep sentiment were just thrown away........ How can you do that when we paid over 15K for the plot the stone the burial EVERYTHING!
