Anyway we were looking for a place to stay where we could have our older dog with us. He's a nervous guy and unexpected noise (thunder, loud noises, the mailman, dropping my phone from the couch) make him anxious so I was a little worried but it was so quiet! The owners also kindly put us on the first floor (which was also great for me because I've been having some knee/ankle issues) so I really appreciated that. Were there some issues? Sure. The bathroom could use a few more towel hooks, and it's a little musty, but it's also august at the shore after like a week of rain so I'm not holding that against them. The rooms were basic but fine. The location was great. The pool was actually nice and you will get waved at from the people walking by on the sidewalk but they're just jealous you're in a pool and they're not. We didn't use the screened in patio but it looked really nice and gave the entire place a friendly vibe. Plus if you wanted to grill while it was raining you could! Anyway, I thought it was nice. The people that run the motel seem cool and they're doing a fine job.

It's a great place to sleep after touring each day. The beds are comfy. I've got torn discs in my lower back and I slept great on the bed! They are double beds however. Though some rooms may have queens. Erica, the manager or owner is great. She's second to none when it comes to guest service. She's available all around the clock, even though the hours are until 9pm. I highly recommend this place especially if you're looking for just a 2-3 night stay somewhere. The price is good too!

It's all good because the migratory waterfowl are here then and it is such an experience to watch them all rise up together in a great cacophony at sunrise. In the evening they return and move around in great flocks to settle down for the night. Once in a while eagles will swoop in and grab one which is quite a sight. Sometimes our extended family will need several townhouses and the big cottage to have our Thanksgiving feast of turkey and fresh local oysters. The Daisey's have a well stocked kitchen for everyone and are always helpful when the occasional need arises as it always does - a crib or something. The heated indoor pool is great for the kids - and adults. And you can't get any closer to the Park Entrance. Perfect for bicycles. This is our 25th year if that tell you how happy we are with The Dove Winds.

not entirely experienced with the whole B&B thing, but i thought CMI was a good start, in a small…read morewharf town of onancock. i stayed for 2 nights at this quaint establishment and had a much-needed relaxing time. the innkeeper was accommodating on our rather late check-in and encouraged us to explore the house. room 4 (our room) was on the 2nd floor and located across the hall from a pretty diverse library, ornate w/ antiquities. actually, the ENTIRE inn is decorated w/ original oil paintings, antiques, and various knickknacks. room was accommodating and fit our needs. the host (linda's mother) makes scrumptious pastries for breakfast but she forgot the food allergies i had initially stated prior to arriving (for god sakes, no pineapple or meat please). but we never left hungry. ever. my favorite area of the inn was the enclosed front patio. though it is not air-conditioned and does get quite warm, there are patio furniture, and several board game tables to spend lazy summer nights playing w/ friends and family. for the price in comparison to other B&Bs in the relative vicinity, it was a nice stay.

Our accommodations were delightful, the atmosphere is second-to-none, and don't even get me started on what an incredible deal it was (I won't belabor the subject but it's well below the rate of the industry standard for far above the level of service which these establishments would provide). We felt very welcome, and were quite pleased with the degree of flexibility in which our stay was tailored to our needs. We did not worry once during the trip as we felt ourselves to be in expert hands. Our gracious hosts, themselves the embodiment of southern charm and hospitality, provided us with meals I'll never forget and with such immersive and knowledgeable stories that they will be forever used as a benchmark for others to live up to. We have since returned home, only to find ourselves utterly spellbound and captivated by the experience. How often is it that you return from a vacation truly relaxed and refreshed anymore? Overall my husband and I had a good stay here over Memorial Day weekend. The inn itself is…read morewonderful and we loved the building and the amenities. *Negatives* 1. We reserved pretty far in advance (early February) and we mentioned that it was our anniversary. I didn't expect anything big, but I was surprised that there was no mention at all during our stay, even on our hand-written welcome note (found in all the rooms when you check in, personalized with your names). 2. We stayed in Sandy Dune on the third floor. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was large, but the shower was TINY. I'm pretty petite (5'3) and I thought the shower was tight. My husband, who is 6'1, definitely had a bit of trouble. The bathroom shower towels are also rather small. 3. Breakfast is served every day at 9:15am. I was a little surprised that it was so late and that there wasn't a wider range of times. For anyone looking to go on a 10am boat tour, Ben will tell you that you can make it, but you will definitely have to rush, because they won't serve you earlier than 9:15 and since everyone is seated and served at the same time, it's done as a very leisurely affair. 4. I woke up one morning with an allergic reaction to something - complete with a seriously swollen lip, hives, and difficulty breathing, and when I went downstairs and asked Ben if the inn had Benadryl or anything, he didn't seem very concerned (my face looked seriously deformed; I startled another guest). He checked the medical kit but it had nothing, and Ben's only suggestion was that I go to a pharmacy. I think he would have left it at that had I not pressed him for more information, such where I could go and if they would be open (it was 7am). I think it would have been more appropriate for him to offer to help a bit more, but in the end, I was fine. 5. Wifi is slow. This may be because the house was packed (22 people) and everyone seemed to be trying to use it at night. During the day it was better/faster. PROS 1. We arrived at around 11:30am, which is much earlier than 2pm check in, but Ben still showed us around the inn and let us drop off our stuff in our room. 2. FREE BIKES!! We used them every single day. They had many (at least 10) to pick from. We biked around town, to the beach, to dinner, along the trails on Assateague. Also, FREE BEACH TOWELS, SUNSCREEN, and DEET. I loved that nothing was locked up so we could get things whenever we wanted (no need to ask for permission or sign anything out). 3. The snack room, which was stocked with trail mix, homemade cookies and brownies, Keurig coffee, various teas, and a large pitcher of sweet iced tea and lemonade in the fridge. There were also plenty of clean plates, utensils, mugs, and glasses. 4. Breakfast was good. Every day you get a glass of OJ (no refills offered), hot coffee (with refills, if so desired) and a little fruit bowl to start. On the first day there was nut bread with butter and jam and an apple clafoutis (baked custard tart) with whipped cream and cooked apples. It was like dessert for breakfast; a little too sweet, but tasty. There was also one sausage and one strip of bacon per person. The second day, breakfast included a tiny little fruit jam tartlet and a crispy baked croissant, halved and topped with sauteed mushrooms, onions, and eggs and served with hollandiase sauce and cheese. The third day, breakfast was a savory herb scone with butter and a thick wedge of veggie omelette. 5. There is a beautiful garden/back courtyard area with tables and a fountain where you can eat/relax. There is also a chess/checkers table inside and multiple decks of cards.

Rob, Barb, and Star were helpful, accommodating, knowledgeable, and just absolutely friendly. The island is definitely a different way of life, and from my first inquiry via email, months before our stay, they were communicative and upfront about everything. There were no surprises, and honestly, that just made it so much easier for my expectations to be so far exceeded!!! They greeted us at the pier when we landed and, driving us to the inn in a golf cart, gave us a quick tour with some history of the island and places to check out - it gave us a chance to get immediately familiar with our surroundings. The room itself was clean, well air conditioned for the summer heat and equipped with just the loveliest treat and thoughtful card for our anniversary - their neighbor makes these adorable (and delicious cakes) with her own farm fresh eggs!! Barb and Rob have really thought of everything to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable? Forgot bug spray? They have it! Need some extra water to beat the heat? They have it? Need breakfast in the morning or a quick snack? You betcha, they have it. The beauty is that they really treat you like family and help you out with the little odds and ends. There is no "nickel and diming," which is just rare in this day and age. In addition to the accommodations, they offer golf carts to rent by the day, or bikes -- but seriously, if you aren't motoring around on a golf cart, you are doing it wrong They have beach chairs if you need them, I think blankets too, a campfire ring where they do s'mores and watch the sunset on the weekends and I know they have plans to keep expanding their offerings! I would be remiss not to mention the Mayor's tour, which they can arrange for you. Sounds odd, and my husband was skeptical when I told him, but IT IS WORTH IT! We learned so much just talking to James (I think they call him Ooker or something, but I can't spell it sooo... James it is) and taking a tour of his restored crab shack. It was a unique and rewarding experience, and since he doesn't have a website, this is where I am posting my review of that too All-in-all though, we had a fantastic time disconnecting and chilling on "Island Time" with the team at Brigadune! I 100% want to go back! (Full disclosure - the flies can be really bad. It is a low-lying island, but zipping around on a bike or hanging out on the water in a kayak or by the piers seems to help. Also, they were really bad for us the first day, but when the wind changed, they just disappeared! So you just never know, but be prepared and don't let it ruin this really unique experience!)

The Service: While we were in the process of booking our rooms, Barb was the POC, and she was incredibly helpful with providing information regarding pricing, accommodations, rentals and activities to do on the Island. Barb and her staff (Star and Chris) were very nice and accommodating for our needs and the process of booking the room was easy and straight. Special shoutout to Star and Chris for being super nice and friendly to all the guests! They really made our stay enjoyable! The Room: The room we got was incredibly nice. Very nicely decorated with the beach aesthetic. Very clean and spotless from the bed area to the bathroom. The bedding was also very comfortable to lay on. They also have a rollout bed as well, if needed. A Plus: On Saturdays, they do a bonfire for the guests at night, and it is an absolutely fun experience. Highly recommend staying for that if you can. From hundreds of meters away while in the middle of the bay. He also had some fantastic and funny stories about Chincoteague (wait for the Sugar Shack story) what is was like growing up in the area. You can tell he loves his home very much. The pontoons were brand new and stable and very comfortable. It was windy when we went out but I never felt nervous because the pontoon was so sturdy and stable. We got some great photos. And Captain Mike was awesome. I would go again.
