I daresay our experience at Colonial Manor goes beyond even those scant bouts of exemplary service. Our accommodations were delightful, the atmosphere is second-to-none, and don't even get me started on what an incredible deal it was (I won't belabor the subject but it's well below the rate of the industry standard for far above the level of service which these establishments would provide). We felt very welcome, and were quite pleased with the degree of flexibility in which our stay was tailored to our needs. We did not worry once during the trip as we felt ourselves to be in expert hands. Our gracious hosts, themselves the embodiment of southern charm and hospitality, provided us with meals I'll never forget and with such immersive and knowledgeable stories that they will be forever used as a benchmark for others to live up to. We have since returned home, only to find ourselves utterly spellbound and captivated by the experience. How often is it that you return from a vacation truly relaxed and refreshed anymore? We most certainly will be back and could not even begin to attest to just how completely delightful this experience has been for us. Thank you again!

We felt so welcomed. When we drove up that little Mansion we could not believe our Eyes. Directly on the water in a magical setting...something we will never forget and definitely will revisit! We were greeted and got a tour that justified its history. We did have perfect weather conditions, so when we came back from dinner, we enjoyed ourselves for a little walk around the gardens and lake. The view from our balcony was stunning...you really have to pinch yourself...just making sure you're not dreaming...it made us feel happy as can be. The next morning...David prepared a beautiful spread of breakfast. Crab &Swiss cheese omelette, roasted Yukon potato, turkey bacon, country sausage, the bread basket had lavish varieties and customed as well towards my girl who has celiac disease with gluten free options, Room tempered butter, I think even the raspberry marmalade was homemade, fresh berries...I mean nothing was missing and it was put together with such care. Since we were the first of the season...David was able to join us. What a great morning we had thanks to him...thank you so very much!! A must see venue, that is highly recommended!

If you visit Tangier, YOU NEED TO STAY HERE! (heehee, it…read morerhymes) I honestly can't say enough good things about our stay at Brigadune. Rob, Barb, and Star were helpful, accommodating, knowledgeable, and just absolutely friendly. The island is definitely a different way of life, and from my first inquiry via email, months before our stay, they were communicative and upfront about everything. There were no surprises, and honestly, that just made it so much easier for my expectations to be so far exceeded!!! They greeted us at the pier when we landed and, driving us to the inn in a golf cart, gave us a quick tour with some history of the island and places to check out - it gave us a chance to get immediately familiar with our surroundings. The room itself was clean, well air conditioned for the summer heat and equipped with just the loveliest treat and thoughtful card for our anniversary - their neighbor makes these adorable (and delicious cakes) with her own farm fresh eggs!! Barb and Rob have really thought of everything to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable? Forgot bug spray? They have it! Need some extra water to beat the heat? They have it? Need breakfast in the morning or a quick snack? You betcha, they have it. The beauty is that they really treat you like family and help you out with the little odds and ends. There is no "nickel and diming," which is just rare in this day and age. In addition to the accommodations, they offer golf carts to rent by the day, or bikes -- but seriously, if you aren't motoring around on a golf cart, you are doing it wrong They have beach chairs if you need them, I think blankets too, a campfire ring where they do s'mores and watch the sunset on the weekends and I know they have plans to keep expanding their offerings! I would be remiss not to mention the Mayor's tour, which they can arrange for you. Sounds odd, and my husband was skeptical when I told him, but IT IS WORTH IT! We learned so much just talking to James (I think they call him Ooker or something, but I can't spell it sooo... James it is) and taking a tour of his restored crab shack. It was a unique and rewarding experience, and since he doesn't have a website, this is where I am posting my review of that too All-in-all though, we had a fantastic time disconnecting and chilling on "Island Time" with the team at Brigadune! I 100% want to go back! (Full disclosure - the flies can be really bad. It is a low-lying island, but zipping around on a bike or hanging out on the water in a kayak or by the piers seems to help. Also, they were really bad for us the first day, but when the wind changed, they just disappeared! So you just never know, but be prepared and don't let it ruin this really unique experience!)

The Service: While we were in the process of booking our rooms, Barb was the POC, and she was incredibly helpful with providing information regarding pricing, accommodations, rentals and activities to do on the Island. Barb and her staff (Star and Chris) were very nice and accommodating for our needs and the process of booking the room was easy and straight. Special shoutout to Star and Chris for being super nice and friendly to all the guests! They really made our stay enjoyable! The Room: The room we got was incredibly nice. Very nicely decorated with the beach aesthetic. Very clean and spotless from the bed area to the bathroom. The bedding was also very comfortable to lay on. They also have a rollout bed as well, if needed. A Plus: On Saturdays, they do a bonfire for the guests at night, and it is an absolutely fun experience. Highly recommend staying for that if you can. Overall, a 5/5! Absolutely recommend booking the Brigadunne and paying a visit to Tangier

When I arrived I went straight to my room and dropped off my luggage then roamed around the property. I felt extremely safe at that moment and for the rest of my stay. The property from the moment we turned onto the driveway was breath taking. I sat on the porch waiting for my friend to arrive. Upon her arrival she was also impressed and so happy we chose to stay here. The rooms were great. I was at Cobb Island. Roomy bathroom, air conditioner window unit, ceiling fan, large windows, comfortable bedding and a curtain to draw in front of the door for added privacy. My friend stayed in the Rogue Island suite. There was no air conditioner in the room but two fans available. The sun comes shining into that room heavily in the morning. Nice view of the water. Bathroom is a little small, but perfect for one. The room itself is perfect for one, maybe two if it's a short stay. My friends words on her stay: "The room was smaller, but comfortable and perfect if we weren't planning on spending too much time. It wasn't too small, just smaller -perfect for a single occupancy. The grounds were gorgeous and I appreciated the hands off approach. The company in the morning was lovely. I loved all of the different amenities and areas of the house we had access to to suit our needs. Breakfast in the morning was simple and perfect. The first morning was this amazing quiche.... Hoping to get that recipe to add to my cookbook, sliced strawberries and coffee. The second morning was a scrumptious banana bread, sliced strawberries and a simply seasoned fried egg. It was all delightful. You have access to the kitchen whenever you want. We brought lunch back and ate it outside. There is a fire pit out back you can use. Some notes: there are some fine tuning things that could be taken care of by a grounds keeper or anyone else. Trimming back the foliage going down to the dock, spraying for bees in the white covered "shed" near the water, clearing leaves from the pool, replacing burnt light bulbs and a major dusting inside and outside, especially outside on all the porches. Otherwise it was very clean. In the end we enjoyed our stay and look forward to stay again!! I'm easy to book again.

They finish the meal off with a slice of cake that was yummy. This was good for a one time trip. The night we stayed it was the only place open on the whole island.
