We really enjoyed staying at the Inn at Onancock. The main reason was Kim and her helpfulness and cooking skills. She was right there when we arrived to help with our bags. Our room was super comfortable and there was a small refrigerator down the hall with bottled water, next to the Keurig for tea and coffee. Kim thought of everything. Kim also does a happy hour with delicious appetizers and anything you'd like to drink. We were able to chat with Kim and the other guests while enjoying Kim's beautiful dog, Dante while he showed us his toys. Onancock is small so we were able to explore it by bike. The wharf had all we needed for kayaking. Having Mallards restaurant next door to the wharf was great for lunch. It's a very friendly town, and Kim and her husband Matt fit in perfectly. We will definitely come back and check out Tangier Island.

THE BEST B&B EVER. Warning: If you stay at a lot of B&Bs then the Inn at Onancock will ruin all other B&B experiences for you, as none will ever compare to this ranked number 1 location. The location which is in the heart of downtown and a two minute walk from everything great is a quaint old house with five quarters each with its own decorative charm and no short cuts. We stayed in the Tuscany Room and we were back in Italy each night. The house has plenty of room to roam, a library, a large living room, and a dining room just off the immense gourmet kitchen. There are three patios (one small one for the 24/7 owners) which each habe their own charm. Enjoying the nightly FREE Wine Down Time inclusive of your choice of magnificent wines (you will get tipsy) and eurderves made fresh by the GOURMET CHEF/OWNER will amaze your palet and astonish your experience level. Thus is no wine andncheease on crackers thus is a daily taste of something different every Time. We had bacon wrapped apricots, bacon wrapped pickles, avocado and cream cheese brischetta with citrus, and toasted pecans with a touch of heat.. to name just a few. Kim and Matt are your host and they provide d us with a weeks worth of itinery, making all the reservations for us at no extra charge... and not one bad recommendation... everything they told us to do and places to go and eateries to dine were amazing and beyond our expectations. Oh yeah.. BREAKFAST... to die for. You will not need to buy lunch that is for sure. These freshly cut fruits with hand whipped Greek yogurt and oats nuts honey and coconut with raisin add ins are just the starter course. Each day a newly freshley baked spice bread followed by a breakfast entree of European flair and full bodied taste unsurpassed at any price... and yet it is included. Save room because it all ends with a shortbread cookie plate that floats on air but still has a crunch. Juices and coffee and tea are of course there too. And outside your room there is 24/7 complimentary coffee, tea, and soda service with water in addition to the early morning room service beverage tray.. also included in your nightly cost. A must stay place. But once you stay here.. all others will be compared and never equal.

A great and memorable first impression...love and appreciate personalization!

An exceptional stay. I felt safe, secure, and extremely pampered. The innkeepers, Kim & Matt were delightful. I entered as a guest and felt like a made new friends when I departed. Dante, the huge German Shepherd (my fav breed) was our entertainment. Loves tug-of-war and being chased. The wine-down appetizers were amazing, and the breakfast meals were exceptional. I highly recommend this quiet, charming, secluded B&B. The gracious hospitality was authentic and truly 'above and beyond' anything I have experienced in way too long! Thank you, Kim and Matt...a true Onancock treasure!

You reach the second floor via steep, narrow steps (about 30) with one hand rail. Assume third floor is similar. Not senior citizen friendly. And don't believe the description that says there is a chair lift. During our stay, my wife slipped on about the fifth step from the top and tumbled to the bottom. Fortunately she survived the fall, with some damage to her knee and bruising all over. Local rescue squad was prompt and professional. Ownership never reached out to us which is disappointing. Where before a breakfast was included each morning of your stay, you now are offered 15% off you breakfast, but more on that later. The dining area is a fraction its former charm, but still charming. The dinner menu is pretty good and both of our dinners each night of our stay there were excellent. For this reason I have given two stars. It would be impossible to say the same about breakfast. In one location, an 8AM breakfast opening was listed. Our Welcome Letter stated 830AM was the opening time. Neither time mattered, because on both mornings the Breakfast service wasn't even open. The entry to it was locked up like an after hours NYC Subway entrance. Saturday morning no human being could be found. We even went back at 10AM to see if it had opened yet, with no change. Sunday morning it was locked up, but there a woman behind the bar to give our key to as we checked out. On both mornings we had breakfast elsewhere. We stay at the hotel for special occasions, and this stay was no exception. Staying at the Charlotte Hotel and not having to leave it was always something we appreciated and looked forward to during the previous dozen or so times we had stayed there before. Unfortunately, I don't think we will be coming back.

I daresay our experience at Colonial Manor goes beyond even those scant bouts of exemplary service. Our accommodations were delightful, the atmosphere is second-to-none, and don't even get me started on what an incredible deal it was (I won't belabor the subject but it's well below the rate of the industry standard for far above the level of service which these establishments would provide). We felt very welcome, and were quite pleased with the degree of flexibility in which our stay was tailored to our needs. We did not worry once during the trip as we felt ourselves to be in expert hands. Our gracious hosts, themselves the embodiment of southern charm and hospitality, provided us with meals I'll never forget and with such immersive and knowledgeable stories that they will be forever used as a benchmark for others to live up to. We have since returned home, only to find ourselves utterly spellbound and captivated by the experience. How often is it that you return from a vacation truly relaxed and refreshed anymore? We most certainly will be back and could not even begin to attest to just how completely delightful this experience has been for us. Thank you again!
