The pool and beach are on site. You can't get in the water by your bungalows, but there are chairs outside so you can sit on the shore. The bungalows have everything you need inside as far as dishes and pots and pans. They also provide towels and linens. Check in and check out were very easy. You get into your bungalow with a 4 digit code that they email you before arriving. When you check out you just call and let them know you're gone. The trip was successful and we loved it here. There are water activities (jet skis, boats, kayaks) and grills on site. There's also e-bikes and fishing rods for rent. You can also purchase fire wood, ice, and charcoal onsite There are AC units inside each bungalow but the bedroom with bunk beds doesn't have a unit so either bring a fan or leave the door open, because it gets hot in there. The main room and living room have a TV that has Netflix and other streaming channels. I certainly think it's a vibe here... The staff is great. Mike, Mark, and Connor were very helpful!! Definitely check them out!!

We loved the screened in porch. I would have enjoyed it more if the bungalows were facing the water vs each other but still had a great view of the water. The front desk staff could of been more helpful when we asked about recommendations on things to do. When we asked they responded, "we are locals." Some suggestions would have been nice. Overall a great experience though.

Perfect for all 4 couples!…read more 2nd stay at Spinnaker Waterfront and it's even better than the last time. We stayed with 3 other retired  couples this time and enjoyed having our own bedrooms and bathrooms. One chilly and rainy day we couldn't go fishing but enjoyed the fireplace and appreciated the nice dry firewood the owners supplied. Really enjoyed seeing the Chincoteague wild ponies again, and this time we did get to the Wallops NASA base.   We are planning on bringing our grandchildren for a week next summer. There are so many free activities that we can enjoy with them from catching crabs and swimming off the dock,  surf fishing on Assateague, and even climbing the light house.  Plus the 2 visitor centers on Assateague and Wallops can keep them busy if weather doesn't let us enjoy the National Seashore which is my favorite beach. Especially enjoyed lots of take-out seafood, and the savings vs eating in restaurants. But cooked lots of great breakfasts in the wonderful kitchen that was exceptionally well stocked with everything from paper products to spices and every pot and pan you can imagine including a large crock pot for our gang

Our favorite activity was eating smores off the grill on the back deck after eating dinner on the screened in porch. Our first time in Chincoteaque and we never made it to the beach - no need to when the water is in your back yard! The owners take care of the property like it's the home they live in all year round. We already booked a week for next year!

BLUE BAYOU: Everything was great before and during our stay. We booked Blue Bayou for 5 days with…read moreIsland Getaways through AirBnB. Our communications with Sherry and staff before arrival were responsive and helpful. The home is simply stunning on the inside and perfect for 2 couples. What put a negative ending on our lovely stay was the attitude of Island Getaways toward personal items left behind. "Throw it away" is their attitude and policy. It is evidently too much hassle for a customer service vacation rental company to facilitate the return of accidentally forgotten belongings to renters - AFTER they have vacated the property. I can't help they cynicism in my thoughts... they have our money, we've left the property spotless, except for our forgotten personal items, and they cannot find the time or generosity to make a phone call to discuss a return using the credit card information they already have. I told them I would pay extra for the box, padding and their time arranging it. My items included about 6 personal 4-8 oz jars of nuts & seeds (collectible glass canning jars) NOT fresh store bought food, and an unopened 32 oz cannister of high quality protein powder. I don't know anyone personally who would intentionally leave personal items behind. I believe that's why it's termed "accidental." I believe people are capable of knowing the difference between store bought fresh food and personal collectible jars filled with pantry items. I believe people realize an unopened cannister of protein powder is fairly expensive. I believe most people are good and kind and generous when given an opportunity to be helpful to others. It turns out even in the off season - when Island Getaways office staff is obviously not as busy as during peak season - it is way too much hassle to carry customer service to the customer AFTER they are no longer on site.

We stayed at Ocean(W) Grove Beach House in Chincoteague Island last year and I will copy and paste…read morewhat I emailed the property. "We were disappointed with the overall cleanliness of the house. A few concerns while settling in: -There are ants all over the kitchen area. -There is also no trash can in the small bathroom downstairs. - barely any hand soap in either bathroom. Thankfully we brought a large bottle of hand soap with us and refilled one of the bottles that was really low. -I also don't see any extra paper towels or kitchen towels or hand towels anywhere in the house. " Their response: "Thank you for taking time to reach out to us about your stay. Despite all of our houses being on a pest control plan, the ants are always a troublesome part of the Chincoteague experience. We recommend that you put all of your food away and do not leave it sitting out. They will be very noticeable otherwise. There is nothing we can really do about the ants. We do keep ant traps here at the office. Please let us know if you would like to stop in and get some. The hand soap is not something we provide with our rentals. If there are soap bottles, they were let from previous guests. We also only provide a starter roll of paper towels and a starter roll of toilet paper in each bathroom. Anything beyond that guests would need to bring. If you need any hand towels just let us know. We can put some out for you." The back deck was a mess and unusable. We ended up buying powder to kill the ants and zip lock bags to keep all our food, hand towels and toilet paper, and even with that the ants were EVERYWHERE. When we checked out we got a call asking what the powder was all over the kitchen and I told them, it was ant deterrent and they did not press the issue. I even left the container under the sink since they clearly needed it. I don't know about everyone else but if you pay over $1k to stay in a vacation home for 1 week, you shouldn't be expected to bring toilet paper, paper towels, zip loc bags to keep ants out, hand towels, hand soap, etc. We have rented through Airbnb before in Pennsylvania and did not have to bring any of those items. We have stayed in the area several times at the Best Western and it's always been a pleasurable experience, but I am finding that renting a home is an entirely different thing in that area. It looks like we won't be going back to Chincoteague this year, as most of the homes are not rented by individuals and all the companies I have looked at have poor reviews. So if you want to go, plan really early to find the best places to stay!

I liked that it's kind of private. The units have 2 bedrooms, 1 has a queen size bed and the other is 2 bunk beds. There's a kitchen with a cooktop, dishes, a refrigerator, and coffee maker. Really everything you'd need. There's also a screened in porch and you get 2 chairs and a table on the shoreline outside. It's the cutest little place with a lot of charm. The units are only about a year old and clean inside. The shower is also really spacious and nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Mark, Mike, and Connor were awesome!! There's a man made beach at the marina with chairs, a fire pit, and a pool area. There are a few grills also. The marina offers boat slips, jet ski tours, and boat rentals. They also have e-bikes, fishing rods, and kayaks for rent as well. The town is a very country laid back Hallmark kinda feel. You will see people riding bikes, mopeds, and golf carts everywhere. The speed limit is mainly 25mph everywhere. Most of the people were very nice. We even got a net and went crabbing off the pier . There's a designated smoking spot in front of the welcome center. I sincerely enjoyed the whole 4 days. I'll absolutely return! Check them out!!

It has a screened in porch looking out at the water. We didn't get to sit out in it because the weather wasn't great that weekend but it would be perfect on nice days/nights. As you enter the bungalow, you're in the living and kitchen area. There's a couch, small dining table with four chairs, and a wall mounted TV. The couch was very uncomfortable. It wouldn't have been that big of a deal if the weather was better because we would have spent more time on the porch and less on the couch. The kitchen has a coffee maker, cooktop, full sized refrigerator, and lots of cabinet space. No dishwasher but that was fine. The bedroom was really small and just big enough for the bed and a small area for suitcases or bags. The bed fills the alcove touching three walls. I'm 6'1" tall and my feet touched the wall at the end of the bed. It was fine for me but taller people might have issues. The bedroom tv didn't seem to have a remote so we were unable to use it. In the hall leading to the bathroom there are two bunk beds. Those beds are a little longer than the main bed in the bedroom. The bathroom is very big and spacious. There's a large shower stall with a handheld shower head. No bath tub (fine with us). The hot water doesn't last very long. One person can easily shower without a problem. The second is likely to run out of hot water if they shower too soon after the first. If I could change one thing, I'd opt for a larger bedroom and smaller bathroom. I also liked that we had our own driveway. It was very convenient for loading and unloading the car. Next to the bungalows there is a recreation area with cornhole and some other things (maybe a grill). We didn't use it but saw some other people using it and they seemed to have a good time. There's also a pool next to the rec area. We didn't use that either but it seemed nice enough. If we ever return to Chincoteague, we plan to stay here again.

I have 4 separate emails over several months stating they wanted to abide by the terms of the agreement, despite escalating situations in their region. Fair enough-it is a legally binding contract. However, one week before check-in, I receive notification that they have amended check-in hours due to COVID. Given that the agreement specifically references check-in/check-out times and does not include the needed language to amend without my counter-signature, it is only fair that they follow the agreement the same way they are asking us to do. You can't have it both ways. (Also, when I asked to see my signed agreement, which I had in my possession but wanted to see what they would send- they sent an altered, unsigned agreement- highly unethical!) Good thing this is a legally binding contract. I will live up to each clause, and I will pursue each clause they disregard in a separate venue. The big take away I learned from working with this company is that they truly only care about their bottom line.
