So we went here on Halloween sat at the bar and got a drink. My friend and I were here with our girlfriends, they decided they wanted to talk to each other so we sat together. Some girl started laying on my back so I turned around and was like please don't. Turned around continued my conversation with my friend, the girl kept yapping being like do you have something to say, so I turned around and said my girlfriend is sitting two seats down from me please don't do that, which sparked a response. She got her two boys she was with and they talked to us and we became boys because they realized it was stupid. Then tried to order a drink and all of us were cut off for disrespecting woman, including my girlfriend, and her friend. So this bar actually has no idea how to treat customers. Talked to the bartenders and they all want to watch the footage, because "boss man" makes decisions. So don't come to this bar and spend your money. And to the owner, I know you're a homer Ohio fan, so it all checks out. You can watch from your little screen while you make Pennies on every dollar you sell. Just like the browns do!! Oh also they proceeded to cut us off for disrespecting woman but wouldn't kick us out of the bar. So woman they don't respect you if we truly did do that. Which we didn't but we asked the bartenders and they said we only cut people off who are too drunk and the bartenders both acknowledged we were with it enough and I'm making this post as I still sit at the bar cut off not allowing them to make more money from my seat!! #GPODAWUND? Ambiance was nice and relaxed, compared to the hustle and bustle of some of the other spots near Wrigley. Music was playing, but you could hold a conversation without screaming. I think the average drink price was about $8; not bad considering the area. Bartenders were courteous and poured a good drink. Did not expect to see a Cleveland Browns bar in Chicago. Gays and dolls be ware! Stopped in here a while ago on a Tuesday evening for a friend's birthday -- bartender accused my group of having fake ID's after checking the ID's of the two visibly queer folks in my group. We're all 23-25, and moved from out of state to attend our respective colleges in the city. We tried to explain, and even asked him to call management/CPD if he would feel better about verification. This cozy pub in the Lakeview area has great specials during the week. We stopped by for the $0.50 wings. They have two types: Buffalo and BBQ. We got some of each. They were ok, nothing to write home about and the size of the wings were a bit small. But they also have a large selection of beers, cocktails and fun drinks to choose from. Here it is 2022 and I have to leave a review about a racist experience at a bar. Today I just went and sat down in front of the pub and was greeted by a really disrespectful server. He asked what I was going to order since I was sitting on his porch. I requested tequila and water and he did not want to serve me water until I paid my bill. The Browns are the Browns and I love and hate them, so I almost didn't come because why waste 3 hours watching a terrible football team when I could be out exploring Chicago when I'm only here for 2 days. I came down to Vaughan's while waiting to be seated at another restaurant and wanted to stay longer! Friendly service as soon as I walked in until the moment I left. Classic Irish bar in Lakeview. Super nice staff as well as a little bit of an old-time vibe. On the strip of all of the big Lakeview bars in the area so it's easy to bounce around if you want. Only issue is that it's a little small so if you're going with a large crew and looking for a table on a busy day, you might need to get there early other than that no complaints. read more

The brisket taco here is delicious, there is no doubt about it. I've been coming to Vaughan's for over 3 years now and I've always had a great experience with the food (brisket tacos and giant pretzel), drinks and the service. Until last weekend. Such a disappointment! So I was convincing my friends to go to Vaughan's to eat the GIANT pretzel and the delicious brisket tacos. I talked about how big the giant pretzel was and how they would be surprise. Well, we get to the bar, the order without looking at the menu (because we knew what we wanted) and we waited for the food while drinking some beers. The woman that brought our food put everything on the table in front of us and I immediately say: "WHAT?! What happened to the pretzel? It's so much smaller than usual. Did you guys change anything?" She said she had no idea what I was talking about, said that the pretzel was the same as usual and that I must not remember right because she had been working there for two years. I asked her to check with the kitchen but she couldn't care less. She never checked with the kitchen nor checked with us again for the whole night. It's fine to make the pretzel smaller or charge more but to pretend it was always like that it is just wrong. Even the tray for the pretzel changed. You decide! read more

I've been to Vaughan's so many times I'm, like, 5 items away from having had everything on the menu (they have a pretty small menu so that's not that impressive). The highlights for me are the nachos (both kinds but ESPECIALLY the pot roast nachos) and the wings (classic and Korean BBQ). The bathrooms are also easy to find and always stocked and clean, BUT most noteworthy about Vaughan's is probably how attentive the people who work there are. This is a good place. Loud, of course, it's a bar, it's to be expected. Especially when there are multiple TVs showing multiple games. The atmosphere was great though. Went there with two other people in the middle of the afternoon, plenty other people day drinking which made us feel a lot better about our decision. Had some house made cocktails and they were on point and strong which made them worth the money. Had a couple beers, talk med to some locals, hung around looked at some of the pictures on the top all, watched some games, headed out. This place is so chill. I was walking by and saw that they had 312 on special for $2, so I stopped in. I ended up staying for a few hours! The atmosphere is great, the jukebox kicks ass, and the bartender kept the brew flowin. The patrons were friendly and fun. I came back on a Tuesday and found out that the beer special was still there, and there was also an open mic night! The music was great- this place attracts some talented people. I have even played a few times. The best thing about Vaughans' really is the bartenders. They are all very nice and quick to pour. read more

In my search for the perfect post-work watering hole, I followed the suggestion of some co-workers and ventured into Vaughan's. It wasn't my first time here, but it had been a long time (ahem, a really long time). The atmosphere was comfy and cozy as I remembered. The beer selection was decent and there was a good mix of people there. Our bartender was attentive - although not very chatty. No food menu to speak of, but they order pizza and mini burgers for Friday night happy hour. After sitting for what seemed like forever, without even an acknowledgement of our empty beers. I finally flag Mr. Man-bun down and he told us "she will get you". Basically he said to our face, "that's not my job", with food & empty drinks, still waiting. He didn't even go tell whoever job it was. If Mr. Man-bun cared about anyone else but his friends at the other end of the bar, perhaps he could of poured our beers. Or perhaps said sure, one second, then tell whomever she was. Eventually I flagged "she" down and got our last beer and left. Food was ok, not horrible which is why 2 stars. "She" was pretty friendly also. Vaughn's is right down the street, but I only just visited recently. The lady and I wanted to grab some food and a drink at a local place, and while walking past we saw they had $2 sliders (Mondays). We went in and the place was not busy at all. I ordered one of each of their siders: cheeseburger, pork belly, meatball, and brisket. Honestly they were awesome, and I wrote them in the order I'd rank them. The beers were reasonably priced, and they had several TVs with sports on. This is a great neighborhood bar and an awesome place to catch games on TV. I really appreciate that they turn the sound on for big games. This bar can fill up quick for certain games, so make sure to get here early if you want a seat. The bar staff here is friendly, quick, and attentive. Drinks are reasonably priced. They have a small food menu, also really reasonably priced. The tacos are huge and a good deal at 3 for $7. Their sliders and pretzel appetizer are also great. The nachos are huge and easily shareable. They have a different food special each day which ends up being a great deal. Overall, this is a great spot to stop into for a drink just because, and especially great to catch a game. The clientele here is friendly and it makes for a great time. read more

The food is cheap. Wednesday is 50 cent wing night. I opted for the Korean BBQ and was pleasantly surprised. Not the best wings I have had but not the worst either. My wife ordered the fish tacos, meh. A Smithwick draft beer runs 6.75. The service is friendly. The Irish bar tender was taking care of everyone this night. The food took slightly longer than I prefer to come out but was reasonable (say 30-40 mins?). Suffice it to say, drink your beer, watch your game, and enjoy your company. From the signage, I suspect this was an Ohio bar (Browns and Buckeyes). The atmosphere was very inviting, folks at the rail in the window, at the bar, in booths and tables. We opted for a booth in the back and it was very cozy. It looks as if there might be WiFi with a password, not sure if Vaughan's shares or not. I didn't make it pass the SSIDs that come up as options, very first one on the list was named "It hurts when IP" after that it was all down hill. LOL! read more

This is the right Browns bar to be at. People are super nice, atmosphere is great. Feels like a true Chicago sports bar. Dark brown wood, decorated with tasteful pictures and mementos. Came here around Halloween and it was decorated so nicely. Pretzel is bomb. Come here for a good time. read more

I live just one block from this place and for awhile there, my roommates and I tried to go there every Thursday in order to establish it as "our" neighborhood bar. We were looking for the "Cheers" type bar where everyone would know our name... ...What we got was a bar that is dominated by the owners and their friends. If you aren't in with the in-crowd, then you are just another face. The in-crowd gets to start fights, the in-crowd gets to use the back door for smokes, the in-crowd gets to order from the waitress station, yada yada yada. The straw that broke the camels back: Some of the in-crowd was getting a little fresh with the girls I was with the other night; I told the bouncer and all the bouncer could do was say "Sorry, nothin' I can do. They know the owners." I can't stand bars that simply exist for the in-crowd. If you're going to hang out on Sheffield then go to Soprano's, Matilda or even the Kirkwood. The first week when I moved into my place, I got bored, hungry, but mostly thirsty. Couple that with the fact that I wanted to watch some college football and my TV was still on a moving truck somewhere, I ventured out down to Sheffield intent on finding some place to watch the Notre Dame game and found Vaughan's. Fighting Irish....Irish bar...eh? As the Ohio State game had recently ended, the place cleared out, save for a few woozy holdovers from early boozing. Excited to see Chimay on tap, I of course order one. I dunno guys, I think the tap lines need to be cleaned or something, because this just tasted goofy. Dirty tap lines = ruining the beer you're paying $250 a keg for. Please stop, the Trappist monks are angry. At least they poured it in the proper glassware. Plus, even though the OSU game had ended a while after I arrived and got a couple beers, there were still a bunch of dirty OSU stadium cups strewn around the place. Meh. The bartender made good conversation when a few of the randoms seated at the bar inquired about the Guinness 250. He said it sucked, essentially refused to sell it to us, and instead poured samplers. (He was right...think Guinness with flowers dipped in it and left in rainwater overnight.) Good dude. Switching to more traditional beers (Harp!) for an Irish bar proved to be tastier. Overall, a decent place to watch a game, better than a lot of stuff in the neighborhood, and A-OK with me. read more
