Even though it was a student showcase night, the show was a ton of fun. The professionals and the students were both fun to watch. It was fun to cheer them all on (even the gaffes). It's fun to support women of every shape and size doing what makes them happy. We had special reserved seats because we were there for a bachelorette party. The drinks and champagne and pasties were icing on the cake.

Cute cute cute place!!! Bartenders were sassy and the shows are mesmerizing. Shirley Blazen has won my heart!

Highly recommend Vaudezilla! It's a small, intimate studio where you can bring a large bunch of women (we showed up with 13) and learn dance moves and how to feel comfortable in your own skin. Ask for Po - she's hilarious, wonderful, and challenges you to love your body! Amazing class - wish I was local and could go again!

She is very professional and gives you the freedom to be as creative and sexy as you want. She doesn't make you feel pressured to be a certain way, so if you wanted to, you could be goofy, sexy, graceful, etc. How you interpret pole is exactly that, your interpretation. She's on time, organized, and really friendly. This isn't just a regular aerobics class. The moves you do are more suggestive and require more athletic ability than you think. It would be really nerve racking for anyone who's just starting out or not comfortable enough with themselves to just strut their stuff on the pole right away, but Angela helps ease that tension. She's got a really cute little studio in her living room with 5 poles. They are all perfectly spaced and she's got sexy lighting and mirrors in their too. Seriously, it's just this awesome girl room where you can just let your freak flag fly! I'll rave about Pole Velocity all day. Had my first class week and was feeling hesitant about how it would go, but Angela is great. She's got credibility, experience, and a nice little set up that makes you feel comfortable there. Plus, she's got these cute fluffy cats that chill out and watch you dance which is hilarious. Love the class, love the prices, love the environment. Great!!! UPDATE 5/30/2014 A year and a half later and I am still going here. Angela is wonderful. She is an excellent teacher and I have learned so much. I have my own pole now and I still take classes because I can always use a little instruction. Her aerial fit class is so much fun. She hosts little "open house" parties for her students so we can all hang out and dance, see each others progress. it's so much fun here! a nice little family.

It isn't a place to learn sexy moves but it is a good workout. Street parking is decent. This place would get a five if the instructor didn't talk negatively about her students. Not reviewing his music (which was fantastic), but the venue. The room we were in was like a black box theater. The room was fairly small and intimate. It was open seating and when we arrived it was pretty full. We were very fortunate that there were two seats open in the third row. The room is acoustically sound (pun intended)... Seriously, being small, they really don't need to amplify the sound, even though they did have a microphone set up. As we were leaving, we got to roam the halls around the school. There were a lot of fun, vintage posters that were a lot of fun to look at. We met quite a few people who either had been students there, or were current students who had nothing but good things to say about the caliber of the educators and the Old Town School. Based on the performances we've seen there of students and faculty, I'd say we agree.

This update is regarding a visit to OSF was to attend their Wiggleworms open house. I've left the…read moreoverall rating the same because OTSFM is still great for a lot of reasons, but the Wiggleworms class isn't one of them. I've heard of the class before and always thought if I had a kid I'd take them, but I think the age range starts at 6 months so we started with a class with a different provider, Music Playhouse of Chicago. I'm glad we came to this one to try it out. While the kids seemed to be having fun, I didn't like it as much as the Music Playhouse class. Wiggleworms doesn't seem to have a developed curriculum. This was just an activity where the kids can grab shakers and toys, and the leader will sing what they want or take requests from the kids, but not a class that has any kind of particular learning outcomes upon which children build. Maybe it was different because it was an open house but I'd have expected they would showcase what an actual class was, and I think it's just not what I prefer. There are some pluses, though. They have weekend classes, which can be hard to find with other music classes for kids. I think it may also be significantly less expensive than the one I take my kiddo to. And they may have a few more babies-only classes than where we go now, which usually has only one of any (depending upon enrollment). I didn't realize before I had a child but there's a huge difference between children of 0-18 months and those beyond, so mixed age classes wasn't my thing at the time. So Wiggleworms has its pros, but overall I'd visit Old Town SFM for the classes and concerts but choose another children's music class.

Another employee named Connor said he would investigate and talk to Heather. Well that investigation was fairly quick. Connor emailed me back immediately stating that my membership was "mistakenly" canceled by Heather. Who mistakenly cancels a gym membership?? What a poor excuse, Connor. And supposedly my card on file was not valid for the month of January 2026. But the same card was valid all of 2024 and 2025 and they sure took my money. I decided to spend my money else where. Do better guys, your poor excuses can lose a lot of customers.

My one issue is the billing department. I pay 75$ a month to have a membership here, and when I got a knee injury that required crutches and a massive heavy metal brace around my leg, my Doctor told me I was not allowed to work out until I was cleared by her as I might need surgery. This did not warrant a good enough reason for them to let me cancel my membership (because I can still do arm workouts according to them). During my four month recovery I was still charged a 15$ fee instead of the entire amount. Then, when I'm finally cleared and ready to get back to the gym my monthly membership charge declined, and I immediately noticed and put enough money in my account to pay for it. To my surprise the next day I got a charge for $98 instead of $75, and when I called they said their reasoning was because there's a service fee if they have to run your card again. A $23 dollar random fee is insane. This company is too focused on making as much money as they can off of each person who joins and honestly I won't be renewing my membership when it's time.

If you want to learn tango, I'll say this is the place to come and teachers to see. So far I love every lesson I have taken and I will continue my journey with them. Their Almagro studio is amazing, inviting and feels like you are in a piece of heaven where you forget about any negative energy and all you want to do is unwind and dance. Fridays they have Milonga which is a social dance event and you can come and show off your dance moves, great for socializing and meeting great people. I highly recommend this place along with the instructors.
