WARNING: NOT LGBTQ+ FRIENDLY My girlfriend and I came here for their beginners salsa class for a date night and had an unfortunate experience with the instructor, Carl. He gave us a hard time for wanting to dance together and called us out mid class saying "well usually it's men as leads and women as followers but hey, it's 2025, who am I to judge." It was uncomfortable and unnecessary to call us out when we just wanted to be treated like what we are...a normal couple on a date night. I reached out to the owner afterwards to see if they could amend the situation and sadly got no response. I wanted to make sure other queer couples didn't have the same experience as us. We will definitely not be returning and will be sure to let others know about our negative experience. read more

Went to Jaime before our wedding (11/5/22). She choreographed 2 dances for us. While we are by no means professionals, she had us doing spins, lifts, and 1 flip in our routines. I highly recommend her business. She is so fun, kind, and she is an amazing teacher. We are forever grateful and absolutely going back for more lessons because it's also a fun date night! read more

BEST MONEY SPENT and easily the best decision we made while wedding planning!! We had no intentions of taking dance lessons until noticing an awesome Groupon deal for lessons at Vargo's. The Groupon was extremely reasonable and offered three private lessons, so we decided to give it a try! Within the first 10 minutes of our first lesson we Jamie, we were HOOKED! Neither of us had any dance experience, and Jamie was incredibly accommodating, helpful, and fun! We were so blown away by her knowledge, skills, and coaching - she offers great cues and progressions each lesson! We decided on continuing with a 10-pack of private lessons and take 1-2 group lessons each week as well. Jamie choreographed a perfect, individualized first dance for our wedding, and we cannot wait to show our friends and family on our wedding day! Again, I cannot stress enough that this was the best money spent! Dance is a life-long activity that you and your (future) spouse can continue forever - it's worth it! Vargo's Dance Studio in Geneva is a Civic Treasure Is it fair for students of Vargo's Dance studio to be out having this much fun dancing, when many others who could get out are sitting at home watching the tube? Yes and no. As students at Vargo's Dance studio, my wife and I consider it such a rare local resource--at 115 W. State Street in Geneva-- that we want to make a "public service announcement" about it. Start with the physical facility itself-- a gracefully styled room with evocative decorations, special effects lighting, a full wall of mirrors to speed the learning process, and a smooth wooden dance floor perfect for gliding. Did I mention the teachers? Jamie Vargo, the proprietress, is a vision of celestial dancing grace when she demonstrates a movement. A soothing but definitive teaching style, with highly developed communication skills earned over more years than seem possible for a woman so young. The other principal teacher--truly a master teacher--Levi is a talking syllabus of correct dancing techniques, fundamental principles of posture, balance, lead and follow. And higher artistry. Both teachers are patient and persistent, and they will push your envelope of dancing skills to help you grow more than you thought possible. In a nice way. For the beginning level or experienced dancer, they are gonna take you higher. Especially when you dance with them. You didn't know dancing could feel this lovely. When the students and teachers are out as a group dancing in nightclubs, Jamie and Levi always do some dancing together. It could be Salsa, the Hustle, West Coast Swing. The floor clears. A hush! Then legs and arms flash, mood sizzles and scorches!!! Len Goodman of Dancing With the Stars would rate it a 10. Bruno Tonioli would jump over the judges' table in a frenzy and blurt out: "YOU!! YOU are the flaming torch of Vesuvius erupting! YOU are the Michaelangelo of kinetic sublimity! YOUR performance would render Marcus Tullius Cicero speechless!! TEN!!!" Or something like that. My wife and I have been fortunate to be taught by many fine professional dance teachers over the years, and to study at several nice studios in the Chicago area. In our experience, Jamie and Levi are the very best of the best teachers we've had, and Vargo's is the most attractive studio we have visited. That's why we feel so lucky we don't have to travel to Chicago or some other far-away place to get the benefit of this level of instruction. This may sound like a commercial message, but it is not that at all, just a consumer review by people who frequently take advantage of other online consumers' reviews of products or services we are considering. But there's more. The other students, friendly, supportive adults who aspire to grow and enjoy music to a greater extent by moving in harmony as one organism with four legs. They feel uplifted whenever they enter Vargo's Dance studio. Then to be in an exciting nightclub of an evening--Evenflow and Villa Verone in Geneva, Nuovo Italia in St. Charles in recent weeks. To be on the floor dancing with your partner thrilling to the music, pleased to display what you've learned that precious few in our culture know. The delight in knowing that, at least for tonight, there will be many couples on the dance floor who actually know how to dance with their legs and not just their arms flailing. We came to Vargo's dance to learn our first dance for our wedding. It was a great experience. We took advantage of the 10 class package and ended up even adding more on. Jaime was our instructor and did a great job at teaching us the steps and coordinating a dance. We definitely had good days and bad days but she never ever seemed bothered. She would go over the steps as many times as we needed. I am sure she or anybody else in the room got sick of hearing our song over and over but it was never known to us. For majority of the time, you are sharing the dance floor with another couple but you are never bothered by them. With the attention that is given to you, you feel that you are the only ones in the room. They offer group dances that are included in the packages. Those are fun to attend too. Our experience with Vargo's dance was wonderful! We definitely want to go back and learn other dances. read more

I never considered myself a very good dancer and with our daughter's wedding just a few months away, I decided we needed some help to look good on the dance floor the night of the reception. Our daughter and her fiance were taking lessons at Vargo's and had so many great things to say, we decided to go there as well. I knew we had made the right choice the first time we entered the door. We attended the Social Dance Class on Saturday morning to get a feel for what it would be like. The class participants were having a great time,and the instructors were talented, patient and very encouraging! My husband and I took private lessons and our daughter took lessons with her Dad, in preparation for the Father/Daughter Dance at the reception. With great instruction and practicing on our own, we were able to dance confidently the evening of her wedding. The wedding guests kept raving about how beautiful the First Dance was and how sweet the Daddy/Daughter Dance was. I have to thank Jamie and her incredibly talented staff for sharing their passion for dance, their patience with beginners, and their commitment to excellence.
