Every seat on this venue has a great view. I love the fact that cell phones are not allowed in here. Text messaging is not allowed. Photographs from your cell phone are not allowed. You can sit here and watch a show without being bothered by everyone holding up a cell phone in front of you. It is freaking glorious and a welcome break in the technological hell that going to concerts in America has become. Thank you for this policy Batavia Fine Arts Centre.

The main seating area was packed. Yet, they were reluctant to open the balcony. To cap it all off, a dumpster behind the facility caught fire. People were sprinting out the doors to move their cars. The fire department came and put it out. But, then the HVAC system started to pull smoke into the auditorium. Everyone reeked of a fire smell. Just a terrible experience. My advice to BFAC - know your limits.

Moves Dance Studio is absolutely phenomenal. Our little one attends classes at their Wheaton…read morelocation. If you want your child to love and grow into dance at all levels, look no further. The director, Tenesha has a lot of responsibilities for over 400 dancers and a full staff and tons of details but she always seems to have everything together and is always calm and peaceful and it trickles down through the whole staff because management always sets the mood at any organization. The teachers are outstanding. My little one (3yo) has had two teachers, Ms. Amy and Ms. Kaitlyn. Both teachers were excellent with three year olds. My little one is a bit of a free spirit (not being rude on purpose but sometimes is so moved by the music that she'll spontaneously all of a sudden dance / run around the room ecstatically). Ms. Amy always had the perfect gentle touch and ways to effectively redirect her in such positive, non-humiliating ways that achieved the results of getting her to pay attention or keep her in place without affecting her self esteem or eroding her enthusiasm, sometimes just gently holding her hand in the dance line to stop the urges. Slowly my little one learned the rules in a safe environment. The result is that my little one leaves her classes with a love of dance and comes home to her try her moves with joy in her heart. Having personally been subjected to the terrible "nazi style ballet" approach myself as a kid, which made me simply leave dance as fast as I possibly could due to how unfun it was, I wanted my child's experience to start as something fun (which it is and should be!) and build on that. My little one had Ms. Kaitlin for the summer Frozen Dance Camp - she was excellent too! The dance camp was awesome. The kids absolutely loved it and having Olaf come visit on the last day was a real winner. My little one is a cuddler and the teacher made room a little one and for her requests for closeness when they did the daily craft while gently telling her when she needed to go back to her circle on the ground. The result is my child adores and feels safe with her teachers and can't wait to go back. The rehearsal was a first rate production and was totally organized. The dress rehearsal was so helpful for the dancers and their families to understand the routine. This is a studio where your child will learn to love dance as a young child so that as they get older that love of dance turns into the internally motivated discipline they need to study higher levels of technique. Lots of positive reinforcement and great age-appropriate techniques for the little ones with progressive challenges as they get older. I highly recommend this studio! We signed up our little one for the Baby Be a Star camp for singing and dancing and plan to continue enrolling continuously for as long as our little one wants to dance. From the looks of it, that will be a while :)

Tiger Lily Vertical Fitness & Dance - Learn to shimmy in our NEW Burlesque! class!

I'm hooked! I have attended some other pole dance studios since I became pole-addicted 3 years…read moreago. I want one that I can go to, get a great workout, learn new moves, and have fun-- Tiger Lily is the place. I didn't want to go to one that has a bar in it where you just play around and wait for a pole. And 90 minutes was too long for my busy schedule. Also, I want instructors who are in good shape! So here it is- a 60-minute FUN sexy class with instructors whom live the fit lifestyle while supporting all the different bodies & ages whom come into the studio. They build up strength to progress, support your growth, and constantly find new challenges. They teach you how to dance, how to do tricks, and have fun doing it. Why Pole Dancing? Move over Zoomba! So I'm too uncoordinated for zoomba to look or feel sexy & I don't feel myself getting STRONG in other fitness-type classes. Pole class will get you those sexy arms (which is the NEW cleavage by the way). I began pole dance fitness years ago, starting out shy, overweight, and feeling unsexy in my postpartum new mommy role. This brought the fun me back. It's like that feeling of going out to the clubs (remember that?) mixed with an exhilarating/challenging workout. Fast-forward 3 years & 40 pounds lost & I am hooked. I can't go without my weekly pole fix. Its stretching, abs, yoga, flexibility, aerobics, and of course everyone's favorite- DIRTY DANCING!

I was so excited on the day of MY Bachelorette Party to come to this establishment and have some fun with my Brides Maids. Instead, we arrived to locked doors, lights out and no one in the building. We waited and waited to see if anyone would show up. No one did. Someone forgot to actually schedule the class time. So no one knew to be there for our class. I understand mistakes happen. I do. But wouldn't you check to be sure you scheduled our class time before you took our $150 deposit??

A few of my friends & I have been looking for a fun/healthy girls night out spot somewhere between…read moreour houses (in the vast expanse of the West/Far West suburbs of Chicago) & I stumbled on The Attic while I was looking for Zumba classes. I figured that Zumba would be a perfect excuse to get a workout in while having the opportunity to laugh at our collective lack of coordination & rhythm...boy was I right! The Attic is a Christian dance studio, so I was worried at first that our class would be super God-centered...while I'm comfortable with my relationship with God, I wasn't sure if my friends would be so keen on the idea of religion and fitness. I was happily surprised that everyone was ok with it & that the prospect of a fun Zumba class outweighed the potential preachiness of the environment. What's nice about The Attic is that they don't push/preach during classes. We would say a quick prayer before the dancing began & a quick prayer afterwards; the middle was a high energy, gut busting sequence of Zumba numbers that left me sweaty and gasping for air (in the best way possible). I always feel lighter after class, like I can be having the crappiest week ever & zone out for an hour and recenter myself. I emerge human again after an hour of good (clean) music, sweat, and laughter with a great group of women. The other thing that I love is that the owner, Tracy, joins right in with the classes with as much vigor as the rest of us. It's great to see an environment where the owner is as passionate about dance and fitness as the business itself. Zumba classes are super cheap too...$5 gets you into your first class, just to try it out and make sure that you like it. Classes after that are $10 a pop, or you can buy a 10 class punch card for $80 (or $8 a class). You just have to use your punch card in 90 days, otherwise it expires. What's great about that is the accountability factor for anyone (like me) who might buy the card and then procrastinate like hell. I should mention that Zumba isn't the only thing that they offer. While I don't have kids, I know that they do offer dance classes aplenty for kids & teens, as well as other adult dance fitness classes (like ballroom dancing...if only I could get my husband to do this with me...). All the dance that they do is clean and age appropriate, this is, after all, a Christian dance studio & not Studio 54, my friends. If I did have kids who were into dance, I would most definitely give The Attic a whirl because of that aspect. The Attic has given me the opportunity to shake my weekly stress out with a bunch of friends (new and old) while laughing and dancing, all for the glory of Him...doesn't get much better than that.

This Christian dance studio has some really great workout ideas! I have never heard of "Pound"…read morewhich is the class I tried tonight. High energy, enthusiastic workout performed with neon green 1/2 lb. weighted drumsticks! A lot of this is core, legs and arms workout . The instructor was very welcoming to the new students (Me!) And explained alternative movements if I couldn't keep up with the whole routine. 30 min on Tuesday nights but it's also offered Thursday and Sunday afternoon for a bit longer session. I think I will meet a few new friends here, the girls were very welcoming. I think it's coed but I saw no guys in class. So yes, it's Christian rock or pop music we worked out to and I liked it! I bought a punch card for 3 more sessions to be sure I'm committed. But you can save and buy 8 sessions for 40, too. Nice dance room, wood flooring, mirrors, very clean. I saw a ballet class in session when I arrived and a Barre class when I left. Lots of variety! I will definitely be back :)
