The main seating area was packed. Yet, they were reluctant to open the balcony. To cap it all off, a dumpster behind the facility caught fire. People were sprinting out the doors to move their cars. The fire department came and put it out. But, then the HVAC system started to pull smoke into the auditorium. Everyone reeked of a fire smell. Just a terrible experience. My advice to BFAC - know your limits.

We found DancEncounter this year after my 2.5 year old twins wanted to try ballet. From day one both Ms. Tracy and Ms. Jeni were extremely patient as they transitioned into the class -despite tears and a learning curve when it came to class time without mom. The girls always arrived excited to see them and left class with a smile. We recently participated in the end-of-year show and beyond my personal experience with the school, I saw firsthand the ripple affect of this wonderful school on dozens of girls and boys of all ages and capabilities. Not only are the instructors talented, but it was obvious by watching this entertaining show that they not only foster and nurture the talents and passions of these kids, but provide a positive environment of encouragement, camaraderie and mentoring that is hard to find. So of course she loves to....Just Dance!…read more Every now and then I'll accompany my niece, Madelyn to her weekly Saturday morning dance class lasting about 45 minutes. About three teachers, eager teenage girls, lead this class of 3-4 year olds in basic but most importantly fun dance exercises. Teachers here are patient and truly take the time to make sure the kids are learning the proper forms while making it fun at the same time. My favorite part is to see my niece holding on to the bar bending into a plie with her frilly pink tutu. Parents are able to see their little ballerinas in action through a one sided mirror that looks in the dance studio. I definitely suggest arriving at least 5-10 minutes early so you get a good seat on the "viewing bench." Parents are typically not allowed into the class, but I've seen exceptions made for children with severe separation anxiety. As a parent, or even an aunt, it's easy to forget to bring this that or the other to class. Thankfully, both ballet and tap shoes are available at their gift shop for rental free of charge to children enrolled in classes. I cannot wait to attend the recital at the end of the class!

I was so excited on the day of MY Bachelorette Party to come to this establishment and have some fun with my Brides Maids. Instead, we arrived to locked doors, lights out and no one in the building. We waited and waited to see if anyone would show up. No one did. Someone forgot to actually schedule the class time. So no one knew to be there for our class. I understand mistakes happen. I do. But wouldn't you check to be sure you scheduled our class time before you took our $150 deposit??

I was surrounded by such positive, welcoming people of all ages. Throughout the night, we sang karaoke, played cards, shot pool and listened to good music. What really stood out to me was how safe, inclusive, and comfortable the environment felt. Everyone was so kind and genuine. But what truly touched my heart was how the community embraced my brother, who is special needs. There was no judgment only acceptance, laughter, and open arms. For the first time in a long time, I didn't feel like I had to be on guard, watching to make sure he was being treated with respect because everyone just welcomed. It was a relaxing night filled with connection and joy. I would absolutely come back and recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, warm, and safe space. LBP provided the space, catered the food (via their onsite cafe, Carver 47), connected us to amazing balloon and floral vendors, and provided other accoutrements (e.g., tables and chairs, table coverings, a stage, sound and tech support, package management). LBP's one-stop shop especially helpful given that our planning team resided outside of Chicago. There is so much to applaud from the experience: the warm and inviting space exuded elegance; the feast was as beautiful as it was delicious; and the LBP team's interactions with us (from planning to completion) was the epitome of grace and hospitality. They accommodated every request and did so with an exceptional level of excellence. When we asked that the menu include a vegetarian and Halal dish, they ensured guests had multiple options. When we requested assistance erecting our banner, they took on the task of assembling the entire structure, even machine washing and drying it when they noticed a stain. Compared to other spaces we considered (and have used in the past) across the city, LBP's offerings and support stood head and shoulders above and their love was palpable in their attention to details.That they have a heart-centered mission and work in support of youth and community was tasty icing on an already amazing cake. The whole experience from learning the dance to the actual moment was one of my favorite wedding memories. Every dance lesson was like a little date leading up to the wedding, and then the actual moment was absolutely perfect and something I will never forget. We also got the most amazing pictures from it! I would definitely recommend LUX. Debbie really knows what she is doing and is a great teacher, her studio is beautiful, and she just has an awesome personality and is someone you want to work with.

Since we were so close to our wedding, our goal was to become more comfortable dancing together for our first dance and to do something other than the traditional "high school arms around the neck and waist" type of dance style. When calling to make the appointment I was able to get in touch with someone right away and they were extremely friendly and helpful. I called on a Tuesday and made an appointment for that Saturday. Our class was at 9:30AM with Debbie. Debbie was so friendly and personable. She listened to our first dance song and what we were looking to achieve from the lesson. In the 45 minutes, she left us with an intro to our dance, a rumba dance style we could do throughout, and a dip to close. It was more than I imagined but something we could realistically accomplish in two weeks without a crazy amount of practicing or skill level. Debbie provided a lot of valuable feedback throughout the class and stayed on pace so we were able to get the most out of our 45 minutes with her. We felt very prepared for our first dance and we are super excited for our wedding day! They also have 2 pack classes if you want more time to polish your first dance as well as several classes where you can have a very choreographed dance with intricate dance moves. For other couples I would definitely recommend to purchase more classes and to go way farther in advance than 2 weeks :) It is great that they take couples months out all the way to the week out who are just looking to improve their dance skills. The studio is gorgeous and there is plenty of space. I would definitely come back here for other dance classes and would recommend to any couples or singles looking to better their dance skills.
