Lifetime Ranch is a joke!!!!!!!…read more I was in a wedding that was held at Lifetime Ranch in Rough and Ready, CA in June 2011. My frends that got married at Lifetime Ranch paid over $2000 to use the property with little other services being offered. The wedding party (and friends, thank you) set up ALL the tables and chairs along with adding all the linens and decor. Lifetime Ranch did NONE of this. The night of the wedding, the groom and us groomsmen met at one of the groomsmen's truck, and enjoyed a shot together in celebration. The "person" in control (don;t know if I want to call her a "lady") came down and threatened to kick us off the property for drinking liquor. We had no problem with the rules (which we hadn't known), only the way in which this "person" handled the situation.......completely classless. The next morning, when the bride and groom should be enjoying their first day of marital bliss, they had to join the rest of the party in cleaning off the tales and rolling them to a storage area along with over 150 chairs. We planned on just removing the decor and piling the linens.......then........"person" comes out and says we have to carry over 150 chairs to the other side of the property to store them. When "person" was questioned as to why the wedding party was doing this and not Lifetime Ranch, "person's" reason was....."we had the guys out here for 7 days in a row working, so I had to give them a week off, and there's no one here to do it." After that, I looked around to see what these guys had done over 7 STRAIGHT DAYS.......nothing......they created a path out of bark for the bride and bridesmaids to walk up from the bottom of the hill to the altar.......THAT'S IT!!!!! In the end, the chairs were moved to the other side of the property to avoid any issues and to just get it over with. If it were me, Lifetime Ranch would be in for a fight!!!!!!!!! Don't waste your money and most of all, your time!

They're so sweet- make sure to give the pigs some belly scratches! My room was very cozy and warm despite the fact that we went in December. I also loved that the coordinators cooked us a home-made meal- lentil cauliflower tacos with cashew cream. Yum. The beds were also comfy and easy to sleep in. It was such a nice getaway from the hustle and bustle of urban life (I live in Oakland), so if you're craving to go out in nature and "get away from it all"- Animal Place is the place for you.

We went in December 2016 with friends and couldn't wait to come back again so did a second visit in March 2017. The guest house itself is newly remodeled, beautifully appointed, and a great headquarters for exploring the sanctuary and the surrounding area. A staff person is assigned to take care of you while you're at the house and prepares a bountiful breakfast of bagels, fruit, and cereal. She also makes sure everything goes smoothly during your stay and is an awesome host. There are three bedrooms, two of which have bunk beds so you can bring a big group if you want. You can just reserve a couple of beds and share a room with other guests, or you can reserve the entire room or even the entire guesthouse. They are not always full, so chances are even if you just reserve a couple of beds, you may have the room to your self anyway. The staff are all very passionate about the work they do for the animals, and we loved being able to support the mission of the sanctuary by staying here rather than paying for some random AirBnB. Of course the biggest reason to stay here is easy access to the animals. On weekends you'll get a private tour included with your stay, and that included getting up close with the goats, pigs, chickens, turkeys, rabbits, sheep, and cows. And you're not just meeting any old animals--you're meeting survivors who will inspire you. We brought two teenagers who loved the tour but you could easily bring younger kids. We can't wait to go back and can't recommend this experience enough! #Life-changing!
