On Saturdays it gets very packed and crazy. They have a huge selection including fresh fish. They have a Tschibo product corner and a toy store. The toys are definitely pricey, but when you need a quick gift it's useful. The Interspar is located in a shopping center with lots of other useful stores like Dm, a Tabak Traffik, Kik, Deichman, Ernsting's Family and a book store. There is 2 hour free parking in the garage underneath. You can also run across the street if you need Pagro or Jello shoes. This is a great shopping center for the 16th district.

Basically, this is like a bakery with a wide offer in fresh breads (even bio, vegan or gluten-free) and a lot of pastries (very good croissants!), but also with a café part. You can seat indoors (nice and comfortable, with blankets and stools) and outdoors for all those who likes getting some fresh air! :) You can order there your cold or warm drinks, and something to eat; or simply get take-away. They have several breakfast menus, adapted to any appetite size, with at least a warm drink and a pastry. They also make some fresh squeezed orange juice as you order it! For lunch, they have a lots of fresh-made sandwiches, snacks and salads. When we entered I was a little wary as to what this tiny cafe could serve. It looks like one of those many tourist trap cafeterias. But the young lady at the counter was super efficient and friendly. She had sausages on the boil in various containers under the counter. We got our order including 2 melange (coffees) in under 5 minutes and were done with breakfast in 20 mins. Such a change from all the sedately paced coffee houses around town. I do enjoy a leisurely meal, but not when every minute lingering over a meal could have been spent at a sightseeing location, staring at the imperial crowns or a Klimt. 3 breakfast plates and 2 coffees and we had the seating space to ourselves all for the kingly sum of 13.5€ !

Here's the scoop: The famous Austrian store XXXLutz has opened up a stand-alone large restaurant on Europe's longest shopping street - Mariahilferstraße . The restaurant has two floors and several dining areas as well as a bar/counter. It is light and airy with lots of floor to ceiling windows. The service is very friendly despite the huge crowds. And for the month of December it is offering some difficult-to-believe special value meals via coupons. For example - a giant Wienerschnitzel and French Fries dinner for only 3 Euros. Why not splurge and have a leg of roasted duck with Knödeln for 5 Euros? These prices must be like 50 years ago. And the food is tasty. For dessert we were given a complimentary gingerbread heart. Of course these prices are temporary and celebrating the grand opening but they are in effect for a whole month and this restaurant is open every day of the week from morning till evening. I think XXXL Restaurant will be a very popular addition to the ever popular Mariahilferstraße and the Westbahnhof Viertel. I def will keep it in mind when I am in the area - especially after their generous opening celebration.

Well, this place didn't disappoint. They brought me a large ICE COLD beer, just the way I like it. Then I had the kebab platter; pretty standard, but still good. They gave a good portion of fresh mixed salad with cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, and lettuce, tossed with a little bit of olive oil dressing. It was a perfect side to the fresh, hot French fries and sliced kebab meat! It's a really laid back place, a local neighborhood restaurant, more locals than tourists. And the prices are very reasonable. Normally when I go to a local place, I'll speak German, but I guess the Kurds working here heard my foreign accent and saw I wasn't a local (I guess that's obvious) so they spoke English back to me. The decor indoor is modern and comfortable, but sitting outside is even more agreable when the sun is shining. The only small damper is that at lunch time, the waiters might be a little overload and not always friendly... But don't let it get to you, all in all Illy Caffe is a nice place to have a good meal or a drink!
