Had a wonderful time staying in a rental house at the Vantage Riverstone last weekend. Three of us were here for a concert at the Gorge Ampitheatre and the 3 bedroom house with kitchen and bath was just perfect! Clean and comfortable beds. We were able to sit out on the deck in the morning and enjoy our coffee and see the river and the lawn in front. So peaceful and relaxing! Everyone in town and the resort management so nice and helpful - highly recommend for any visits to this part of the state and so much more fun for attending a concert! read more

This is a great place to stay if you are going to a concert at the Gorge Amphitheater. My girlfriend and I had a blast in a cute little camping cabin. It's definitely a rustic experience, so bring shower shoes, your own sheets, and bug spray. Maybe pack along a fan as it is a little stuffy during the day. Neither of us are big campers but we had a blast on this camping adjacent adventure. Would definitely go again! You are super close to the water and ginkgo petrified forest so definitely check that out as well. PS it gets really windy at night so be prepared, but that just comes with the area. read more

Just wrapped up a 2 week RV trip through Idaho Montana Oregon and Washington, spent 2 nights here in a gorgeous river view site. Hookups were great, site was grassy and welcoming, and we had the entire riverfront sites to ourselves, sheer heaven! Can't beat the view. Little confusing figuring out where to go, signage would have helped. We celebrated our anniversary here, looking forward to coming back! read more

I will NEVER stay here again! We were booked to stay 5 days in a rental house. We were put in a completely different house than I had reserved. Stayed one night and checked out. I had to clean the toilet, air conditioner couldn't keep up with the heat so the house was 85 degrees until after midnight. The house we were put in was barricaded off from the rest of the resort with cement barriers and a 40 foot storage container. The house is surrounded by black asphalt so there is no grass or any shade. It felt like we were in an industrial parking lot. The back yard is a waste water plant. We were told we had a river view but the only view was cement barriers, 40 ft. Trailer and I-90 highway. We were told we had cable TV but got no service. We were also told we would be walking distance from the resorts motel. It is a 20 minute walk across the main road and very steep hills. This house is not even listed on their website. There were 3 homes pictured and this was definitely not one of them. When night came we had to keep going outside because someone kept driving up with their headlights off. We ended up having to bring everything off the porch into the house so it wouldn't get stolen. (Bikes, coolers etc) Because of the barricades it felt like we weren't at the resort at all. When I addressed the management all I got was excuse after excuse and finally got a refund. We were so disappointed after months of looking forward to this trip and relaxing....we packed up and went home. read more

We had our first annual trip for the RV waterfront spots. We took up all 9 full hookup spots. We were allowed to have tents as well. Everyone was from Hawaii and we had a BLAST! The camp hostess never bothered us or told us to keep the noise down. It was nicely spread out and easy access to the water for family fun, jumping off the cliff side, boating, swimming and lots of green grass to chill and relax. The only downfall.... It gets extremely windy. Scary for tents and also RV's... But who can predict the weather. We will be back for our annual Hawaiian RV'ing read more

I conveniently booked a camp site on the website so my family and I could tent camp. When we arrived to check in we were greeted by the friendliest staff and ended up upgrading to the cutest little cabin for just a small up charge. The best of both worlds between glamping and roughing it! The bathrooms were extremely clean and spacious. It was also nice to know there was showers and a washer and dryer to use if wanted! July 202: based on our exp, recommend investing in a Harvest Hosts membership and going straight to Trinity Gardens Lavender farm. Spare yourself from a huge negative energy and time sink. We lost 5 hrs between waiting unnecessarily for a late opening (while mgr was 300 yds away on property w/literally an EMPTY campground) & being placed in a flooded spot w sprinklers still running. Left after 1 night & still had to request a refund, even after politely expressing our frustrations & constraints. The very best of mgr's attitude was snark. Too bad, Rochelle seemed service minded and might've made up for the high winds and all night 18 wheeler noise exactly 12' from camp spots. read more

This is a big worn out RV park, just 30 amp service and somewhat level spots. When I called to get a spot for the night I was told I didn't need a reservation. When I got there I was charged a $2 reservation fee. Any way to get a little money out of you, very shady way to do business. Beautiful area read more

I started coming here a few years ago with a group of friends that have been going to the "resort" for 18 years. Our group consists of up to 30 people. This year we had less than half of that and the experience we had was shocking to say the least. Before getting to that let me set a scene: When you pull up to the site you see a closed down restaurant an open structure (not sure what it is) and then the little market store. When you check in the staff are incredibly friendly and kind. In fact this year they knew the name of our party and said they looked forward to having us back. In fact this year we were told "they are practically locals". We never complained about them fact they sometime run out of ice, or have horrible coffee. In fact it makes it a bit more eclectic. **The campground sites are decent size but they seem to have gotten a bit smaller in the last couple years. The campers are friendly and all say hi and chat with you if you take the time. **The bathrooms are a different story. There are two sets of bathroom. The ones closest to the office are very rough. There is usually water on the floor, every year it seems the mens toilets plug regularly. The showers are very rough (in fact most years we suggest people bring "shower shoes" in order to not have to touch the floors. This year they did add a security code for the restrooms. The upper bathrooms are better and less dirty. **You are close enough to the Gorge Amphitheater to get to the show very quickly and if we want to take a dip in the water it is a short walk to get there. There are also sightings of deer and the best nights of calm. **I have enjoyed that every year we have a great time around the campfire. We sing, chat, laugh and really enjoy the most of what, for many of us, is our big vacation for the year. We have people who come from the east coast and it is like the best reunion. In fact there has many years that we have been having fun late into the night. In the past no one has ever said anything about it. This year we had an inexcusable experience. I have taken the time to see if I imagined it as bad as it was but it was just shocking, as I said before. The 3rd night of a 4 night stay we were enjoying ourselves around the campfire. We sang happy birthday to two of our friends. Within minutes one of the employees in a golf cart came by and stated we were being too loud. This was even more surprising when he returned about 15 minutes later and said it was a second warning. Our fun mood was ruined and we slowly closed down for the night. The next day our neighbor said she never heard anything and she is a light sleeper. The last day of camp we were closing up shop and a man drove up on the property in a quad, he said he was the owner Bryan Stockdale. He told us he had to talk to us about our actions this year. He said due to the various complaints he had to refund other campgrounds. He went on to say they are a family campground and they were not wanting to have the concert goers and drunken partiers at their site. We asked him to clarify that he was not wanting to have the concertgoers coming to the site anymore. He said "that is correct, we want families who want to come and enjoy the outdoors". He belittled the women by calling them "hon" and "dear". He ended by saying He "would pray for us and god bless". It made us apparent he was wanting something very different than what we have experienced in the past. **note: The owner did speak with the person who talked to us and gave him incorrect details and that they had to better work on their communication----yet he Bryan did not return to apologize to us. I will miss going to this place but I cannot condone feeling like we are not wanted and that our kind is no longer accepted there. Farewell Vantage resort, I wish you luck. read more

I stayed here this year over the labor day weekend in one of the rooms. I can't recommend staying here. My room had a lot of problems like: no bathroom sink, a bedroom sink that trickled water only, a closet that main bar was built too far back, so you couldn't hang things regularly...I could go on but the bottom line is things are run down to a point where it's almost comical but it isn't. Stayed here in an RV for one night on our way across Washington State. We'd made a reservation for a specific site, but when we pulled in to register we were told that site was not available "as the previous occupants decided to extend their stay". We were given a similar pull-through Full Hookup site down the row a bit. We accepted that, but as we pulled up to the new site we found it too was occupied. There was one vacant pull-through site, but all of them were so cramped that our slide-out would be hanging right over our neighbor's firepit! (our slide-out only extends about 18"). We went back to the office again and were eventually given a back-in FHU site with a bit more room farther away from the road. We pulled in and enjoyed the extra space for about 5 minutes before the sites on both sides of us were occupied. We noticed that most of the campers here had large speedboats and pontoon boats parked along the roadway, making access a bit more difficult. (The Columbia River is nearby) One of the new neighbors proceeded to unload a mess of kids, bikes, and toys that were quickly strewn all around their site and part of ours. It was very windy here (as it often is) so their debris blew all over the area. We were able to ignore it all, and fortunately the wind forced everyone inside so we didn't have to listen to loud and abusive language coming from next door. The final straw came in the morning as we prepared to leave. As I opened my dump valve to empty my black tank, sewage quickly backed up the drain and started spreading across the lawn! I was able to quickly close the gate valve and watched the sewage slowly seep down into the drainage hole, but this was disconcerting as I am very fastidious about securing my dump hose properly every single time. In this campground however, there is no threaded fitting for dump hoses, simply a concrete-lined hole in the ground. My dump connection was properly placed in the hole with a weight on it to keep it from dislodging. But the sewer line apparently gets blocked by pine cones, grass and other debris, making for a very unsanitary condition. I was able to complete my dump only be cracking open the gate valves very slowly and limiting the flow so the process took much longer than usual. Afterwards I carefully washed the raw sewage on the grass around the hole down with a hose and placed the weight back over the open hole. (keep in mind this unsanitary drump station is jsut feet away from our neighbor's picninc table and all their kid's toys and bikes) As we left I called the "24/7 emergency number" we'd been given for the front desk but was only able to leave a recorded message to advise the staff of the problem. I never received a call back from them acknowledging that they were aware of the problem. I won't stay here again and recommend that others avoid this place as well. The sheer number of sites crammed into the property leave us with the impression that quantity rules over quality with the operators of this campground. read more

We've never liked staying here but have done so because we meet up with a group of our friends every Labor Weekend and attend a concert in the Gorge. I've never written a review for this place because it's clearly struggling financially and I didn't want to hasten what already looks like a pretty difficult situation. After witnessing the owner's treatment of other guests, I'm not inclined to stay silent any longer. I've stayed at the Vantage Riverstone Resort three times over the past four years--one year at the campsite and two years in the motel. The "resort" consists of a gas station, an out of business restaurant, a mini-mart, a run-down motel, a defunct indoor pool (the building also serves as a place to warehouse unused furniture and appliances), campsites, and RV pull throughs. It is river adjacent. The mini-mart is very minimally stocked and often runs out of essentials (ice being a really important one). There's a lot of delayed maintenance around the resort--one glaring example are the ice freezers (on the side wall, nearest to the front) in the mini mart that have been broken for over a year. It appears that they've given up fixing those and purchased an old separate ice cooler and placed that in the back. I mention these details to emphasize that this place is struggling and to paint a picture of the resort. Experience at the campsite: Pros--the sites are decent enough and there's plenty of shade. Cons--the bathrooms are reliably disgusting. There's often backed-up toilets and standing sewage; they often run out of soap and toilet paper. It's gross and it's the primary reason we moved to staying in the motel. Experience at the motel: If something is broken or jenky at a hotel, we now refer to it as "Vantage" because of our experiences at this motel. Last year we stayed in Room 2 (we were part of a friend's reservation, but I was the paying guest who checked in separately). It doesn't seem like the building was ever intended to be a motel--the rooms are large, long, and have drop ceilings. There were two beds in our room, but one of them was about 4 feet from its nightstand--this was because the outlet for the lamp was too far away to reach the bed (if they moved the bed, they'd be blocking a closet). The furniture is dated and hodge podge. The TV was small. The most interesting thing about the room were the obvious safety hazards that could have been easily and cheaply fixed, but weren't. There was a power strip in use that was black and bubbled at one end, a coffee pot with jagged chips on the pour spout, and a really narrow shower stall that requires you to pull the handle out to run the shower. The last one doesn't sound like an issue, but it's in combination with a really high set hot water temperature that lead to many screams of pain when my husband knocked the shower handle while turning around in the shower. I will say that the air conditioning worked extraordinarily well and we didn't have to use the campsite bathrooms. This year we stayed in Room 3. Room 3 had an air conditioner that didn't really catch up to cooling the rooms until the end of our second day there (of a four day stay). When I mentioned this to the front desk staff, they replied that I needed to give it time and that no one else had complained. The lamp in the front room didn't work, the bathroom sink (which was in the bedroom, not the bathroom) had such low water pressure that my husband thought it wasn't running at all ("No honey, it's Vantage, there's a trickle."). The "closet" was some lazy DIYers abandoned project--it was so narrow that the hangers could only sit diagonally, rendering it pretty useless. The dishes were dusty. The furniture was dated and hodge podge and there was a visible hole in the sofa. I didn't realize that there were nicer options available out in that part of the Gorge--we'll be spending our money there next year. read more

We planned on staying here only one night, but would not have stayed longer even if we had planned a longer stay. We made a reservation for an RV spot online, and it appeared from the website that there was only one spot left available. We booked it which was a mistake. We arrived at the campground at 3:00pm, and there was nobody in the office. After knocking on doors, a lady next to the office whose home was labeled @night check in" came to the door and asked me to wait a minute. As I was waiting, another lady drove up to the office and said she could help me check in. She gave us the campsite I had claimed online (which was supposedly the last one available). It was on the very far end of the campground - as far away from the restaurant, store and restrooms as you could get. As we drive through the campground, there was not another campsite occupied, and it stayed that way throughout the night. When we pulled into our spot, the lawn sprinklers were going and our site was a muddy mess. Not only that, but the sprinklers rotated and hit our travel trailer every few seconds. I tried to call the office, but their phone was turned off. I went to the office and knocked on all the doors, but couldn't raise a soul. This place is absolutely unacceptable! Stay somewhere else. read more

A large once grand riverside RV and camping resort has seen better days. The swimming pool has long since been covered over, the bathrooms and shower facilities are in dire need of an update and, the sewer connections were not working (plugged). But wait! The views, the tree shaded spots on the hill and the regions recreational opportunities and being part of the Passport America discount program made the park worth staying an extra day or two. read more

Each year over Labor Day weekend we stay at the resort. We have camped, booked rooms, and rented one of the houses. Being that it's a holiday weekend the prices are a bit high but that's what happends when you are in driving distance of the Gorge(13miles) My only complaint is that about 5 years ago the bathrooms and showers by the water burnt down and they have yet to rebuild. It would be nice to have showers next to the overflow camping again. Every person who camps pays $15 a night, you would think with the thousands of people who stay here each summer due to concerts new showers would have popped up by now. There are 2 gas stations, 2 local restaurants, and a general store. We will be staying here again this year. Next year The Gorge will have their resort open. I wonder how many people will be trading up? read more

STAY AWAY IF YOU ARE COMING FOR A CONCERT! Loved this place for a very long time, despite the always rough check in, no recycling, and the disgusting bathrooms with sewage problems. It was a nice alternative to the gorge camping. But now the owner, with his disrespectful "hons and sweeties" when speaking with women, is trying to make this campground "family friendly" which means no talking above a whisper after 10pm, which is always going to be after the show. Despite some of our group coming here for almost two decades, we were never once informed of the quiet hours before this. He seems to think that this won't effect his business...good luck with that. If you are looking for a wholesome Christian family oriented (which means children screaming at 7am) campground this is for you. But if you are looking to stay up late around the campfire with your friends laughing and discussing the show you just enjoyed, the owner has made it very clear HE DOES NOT WANT YOUR BUSINESS. read more

For almost 2 decades, I have been a loyal customer of The Vantage Riverstone Resort. We have a group that fluctuates from about 15 to 30 people who come from all over the country to see The Dave Matthews Band on Labor Day Weekend. We always reserve between 5 and 10 tent sites, as well as some of our crew reserving pull thru sites snd motel rooms, depending on the year. When I call at the beginning of the year to make reservations, they always remember me, and when we check in, they have always greeted me by name (the office staff is kind and thoughtful, and should not be denigrated by this review). This year, as I was checking in, one of the staff referred to us as "basically locals." We have always been respectful neighbors and campers, cleaning up after ourselves, and often making friends with those around us. We have come back, year after year, and never complained about things like the sewage flooded, filthy restrooms, increasingly small sites (they are almost half the size they were when we started camping there), permanently closed restaurant and pool, or confusing check-in process, because we still felt it was superior to The Gorge Amphitheatre's camping options. We are a middle-aged bunch, and prefer a more peaceful camping situation, because while we certainly have fun and enjoy ourselves, we aren't interested in a crazy party scene (the irony will soon become clear). This last Saturday, after the show ended, we were sitting around our campfire, roasting marshmallows, reliving the show, talking, and laughing. A little after midnight, we did sing Happy Birthday to two of our group who were celebrating on 9/1. A young man came by in a golf cart and VERY rudely reprimanded us for our noise levels. There was a lot of confusion, as we were speaking at normal levels, and had never been asked to quiet down, even on years when our group was twice as large. 10-15 minutes later, he returned to say that he was giving us our "2nd warning", despite the fact that there was no yelling, no music playing, and nothing disrespectful happening AT ALL. We were all pretty baffled, and continued to discuss it the next day, as we were confused as to why we had been singled out. We checked in with our closest neighbor to see if we had disturbed her, and she verified that she is a light sleeper, had everything open (it was a hot one this year), and heard nothing. She did end up hanging out with us for much of Sunday, so the silver lining is we made a lovely new friend. While packing up camp on Monday morning, the owner, who I now know is named Bryan Stockdale, pulled into the middle of our camp sites on his 4 wheeler, and announced that he had "a review" for us. The next few minutes can only be described as bizarre. He berated us for our drunken antics (didn't happen), referred to us having to be reprimanded on multiple nights (didn't happen), made veiled threats to call the sheriff (for what, I am uncertain), and let us know that he intended to make this a "family campground"...which does explain why their staff did not seem concerned about children running through our sites screaming at 7am (which we did not complain about). He interrupted and spoke over the women in our group, calling them "hon" and "sweetie", and let us know in no uncertain terms that he is no longer interested in clientele that attend concerts at The Gorge, which seems like a strange choice for a business that is kept afloat by the largest draw for hundreds of miles around. He was condescending, rude, and didn't even have his basic facts straight. He ended the interaction with some specifically Christian references, which certainly made our very mixed group, a good percentage of which is queer, question his motives. I'm stunned that a business owner would treat customers of almost 20 years so disrespectfully, and for no good reason. All 30 of us will be taking our business and our money (not just camping, and motel rooms, but ice, supplies, and other store purchases) elsewhere. We have given Vantage thousands of our dollars over the years, and we will happily redirect those funds to one of the many other options in the area. If you are coming to the area for a concert at The Gorge, The Vantage Riverstone Resort DOES NOT WANT YOUR BUSINESS. I'm deeply saddened and disappointed, as this has been a beloved tradition, but I will absolutely never be back. read more

I loved this hotel because I like finding old places out of the way. Yeah its old and rundown but the price is awsome, and the people are great!! I stayed once on a way to a funeral and it was a neat experience for the kids, the other my companions were alittle freaked out because it was different. I would say update for fire alarms and locks and I would forsure stay again. read more

Location. Location. Location. Motel overly-expensive for what you get. The Good: Within 14 miles of the Gorge. Right off of I-90 at the Vantage Bridge. Everyday citizens pay only $5 for a Day Use pass to use their waterfront area directly on the Columbia River. Great area if you are camping, need a boat-launch or just hanging out for the day. A little store on-site to buy camping basics; chips, beer and ice, ice, baby. The Bad: We weren't able to camp this time so we booked the last room available at the Vantage Riverstone Motel (#6) for $138 for one night. Lumpy bed, moldy stand-up shower with no tub, cable TV was out and wasn't able to be fixed. Decided it wasn't worth the frustration of a crappy nights sleep so we gave the room up, got a refund and drove to Ellensburg and got a way better room for $78. Place is cool ... if you're just stopping to swim, or camping in your own RV or tent unit. Avoid the motel at all costs, friend. E-burg ain't that far away and the beds be cleaner, cheaper and you're that much closer to West Side. read more

I'll give it 4 stars for what it is. We got a great camp sight right by the kids toy, so that was good for our kids and luckily no one was camping next to us so they got it all to them selves. For out FIRST family camping trip it was fantastic. Not too pricey. And they sell Beer at the store good ones too. Restroom did STINK real bad, i thought it was temporary, but no it was not. If you're camping here, don't be surprised if you don't get much sleep. We had a nice spot with a great view, but people were awake and partying loudly until 430 AM. The highlight was hearing a bunch of people scream at the top of their lungs for almost an hour at 330 or so. "Get out of my tent, you stupid [insert female oriented homophobic slur here]!" "Eric, you're a crazy psycho a$$h0Le!" For almost an hour. Awesome. Oh and make sure to stake your tent very well. We were lucky...our tent was caught by a fence just before it blew off the jetty. A bunch of other people weren't so lucky, and their tents blew into the river. read more

I have never stayed in the motel. However, I have used the laundry room. If you are staying in the nearby State Park, or in the campground in Vantage, you can use the laundry room. Good luck getting a machine. Usually one of the dryers or washers will be "out of order" and there aren't that many washers and dryers there. Plenty of room to park an RV as long as you are the only RV. I've never had an issue parking my RV there. My "moderate" rating is based on what I had to pay for laundry. read more

I very seldom (like never) write reviews but was really impressed by the improvements made at Vantage this year. We have a large group of family that have been camping at Vantage for over 35 years and have seen it go through a lot of changes. The bathrooms were updated and locked (makes a huge difference in cleanliness), the staff was extremely polite and helpful, parking lot resurfaced, some of the picnic tables had been refinished and, in general, the park got a nice facelift over the winter. It was nice to go past the swing set and see it filled with kids. If you want a camp spot where you actually get space, can put tents right next to your RV's so you can keep everyone together, this is the place. The spots are large enough that you can play lawn darts, volleyball, corn hole or, our favorite this year was the slip and slide we set up on the hill. Our group consists of about 45 people from babies to very senior citizens. Many of us, young and old felt this was one of the best times we've had in a long time!! We had a blast! If I would rate this place a zero if I could. First off you have to check in at a texaco next door and they charge your card and give you the key. When we got to our room the door was unlocked and a random man was right outside. When we went inside there were bleach stains all over the carpet. We turned around and handed the key back. Still attempting to get refunded since they won't credit your payment back at the texaco. Totally sketch! read more

We had a pleasant stay there. The price ($78) was good for the great location, and this was on a concert weekend. If you have only ever stayed in the Waldorf-Astoria try to be realistic in what to expect in an older motel far, far from the lights of the big City. The rooms and furnishings are older, and the tubs and showers are not brand new, but the rooms are kept clean and the staff (yes, you check in at the next-door restaurant so there's no room service) are very helpful and friendly.
