I honestly don't even know where to start. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. I went in two weeks ago for a simple heel repair. I was told it was an easy job and would be done quickly. While I was there, they suggested adding a cleaning service since I mentioned I needed the shoes for a wedding, so I agreed. I paid half upfront and was told I would pay the rest at pickup. Fast forward to today--I walked in, and before I could even fully step inside, she immediately told me my shoes were not ready. I explained multiple times that I needed them for Thursday, and instead of offering a solution, she kept repeating "they're not ready" and telling me to come back another day. I made it very clear that today was the ONLY day I could pick them up. After insisting, she finally said I could come back tomorrow, and again I explained I couldn't. I had to continue pushing just to get my own shoes back. Then she suddenly switched and said, "The job is done, but I have high standards and want it to be perfect, so I wanted someone to go over it again." This made no sense, especially since she had just been insisting they weren't ready. While she was helping another customer, she was loudly yelling with a terrible attitude, saying that I should have called to remind them that I needed my shoes. Why would I need to remind you to do a job I already paid for? The entire interaction was so uncomfortable that I ended up recording the last part because of how aggressive and loud she was, even though I was calm and trying to be understanding the entire time. When she finally brought my shoes out, I was honestly shocked. Yes, the heel was repaired, but the shoes were in terrible condition. They were extremely dirty, the bows were undone, and the leather looked cracked. It was obvious they had not been cleaned at all--even though that was a service I paid for. She even tried to say they hadn't worn them, as if that explained the condition, and then finally admitted they were never cleaned. On top of that, the payment situation was ridiculous. I had already paid half, and when it came time to pay the remaining balance, she initially refused to let me pay with a card and told me I would have to come back another day. When she finally did charge my card, she added THEIR card processing fee to MY total. For example, I owed $1 and she added extra cents for the fee, sarcastically saying "yeah, sorry." At that point, I was exhausted, frustrated, and just wanted to leave. I have never experienced this level of unprofessionalism, poor communication, and disrespect. To make matters worse, these are Chanel shoes, and it honestly feels like they were just thrown into a pile with no care whatsoever. I will never be returning. If I could give 0 stars, I would. By the way I will add pictures of the shoes the day I dropped them off and the state in which I picked them up today! Now it looks like I will actually NEED the shoe cleaning. read more

$18 dollar lesson Not to ever use Van's Shoe service 1209 W Abram St, Arlington, TX 76013. I specifically called asking if she had ROYAL BLUE THREAD , her reply, " Girl, were professional here." I gave my Nine West , Royal Blue Sandals, to a lady on July 12, 2023. She claimed that Nine West's company is the reason why the strap broke. I asked for the repair to be sewn, NOT glued. Terrible service. Do not recommend. Dropped my boots off in may the lady in front told me it would take a month to have them repaired. I ended up calling 5 months later they lost my boots and by the time she found them an hour later they hadn't even started yet. 6 months later I pick up my boots and the work they said that was supposed to be done wasn't. They lady that runs the front ended up giving me "15 dollars" back and kept talking down to me the entire time. I do not recommend this store. Her attitude towards me made it seemed like I was wasting her precious time when I questioned & looked at the $295 priced item. She kept stating "if you know your leather, then you know what it is." The woman working at this store is as close a narcissistic psychopath as you can get! I will report this business because this is not how any business should be allowed to operate. After waiting for several weeks for my shoes and calling several times, always being told they are not ready yet and she will call me back, I went back to pick up my shoes to get them repaired somewhere else. That's when all hell broke loose and the woman went beserk. She didn't want to give me my shoes back and told me she will call me when she FINDS them which I'm sure would've never happened! She told me to leave her store and that she won't look for my shoes before I leave her store. I told her that I won't leave without my shoes. I left two pairs of shoes in October to be repaired, I just picked them up at the end of April. Six months it took to get my shoes back. Two pairs of heels, both needed new elastic in the sling back, and one needed a half sole. They completely forgot about the half sole, but they did a good job at putting the elastic slingback. I looooove my wedding shoes now!! I admit I was skeptical at first, but the lady who runs the place (or seems to) worked hard to make sure I got EXACTLY what I wanted. I took in a pair of dyable wedge heels I got from China. There was no sample material in the beat up box that was delivered to my door, and no way of knowing what they were truly made of, as it was not listed on the website. Despite this, she matched them to the belt/ sash I will be wearing at my wedding. They now look GORGEOUS! My dress is rather plain, so the green shoes, belt & jewelry make a huge difference. I'm so glad I went to Vans, and will return in a heartbeat if I ever have the need. In regard to some of the other reviews: The woman does have a unique personality/ attitude, lol. Nightmare. This was the most UNPROFESSIONAL interaction I've ever had with a business. I was YELLED AT on the phone after asking nicely AFTER a month 1/2 when the simple repair would be complete. The awful woman (she never gave her name) yelled, "We have more than your bag to worry about. Call back in two weeks - then hung up on me. Another time, she belched as she was answering the phone. If you enjoy being jerked around, being verbally assaulted by a power tripping psycho and possibly losing property left in good faith of a service - this is your place. After almost three months, and a final call wherein she belly ached more excuses - "I have a lot on my plate... we're moving." To which, I replied "Moving? How will I find you, please? Where?!" Her answer: "Oh just a few blocks over; you'll find it." That's when I realized I may seriously never get my $400 bag back! I am a patient person who despises confrontation. Nonetheless I went back to get my property. Of course they didn't do any of the work. Did I get an apology? No. I was berated about not having my ticket. Then accused of lying about when I dropped off my bag. Then the psycho demanded to see my ID, said sarcasticly "I don't know why you're so upset with the deep breathing and all... you want me to give your bag to anyone off the street?" I was floored. After laughing at me, and acting like she wasn't going to return my property - she literally reached next to the register, and plunked my bag on its side in front of me. It was never even in the back. I muttered thank you, feeling completely dressed down and left before she could further humiliate me. Well, despite the negative reviews on Van's, I went ahead and decided to have a zipper repaired on one of my favorite handbags. The lady was very honest about what would have to be done and that once they popped open the zipper pull, there would be a few options. I was told it would take about a month and a half. And at first, I thought that was a little long but I went with it. Ms. Sharon updated me two times before my bag was ready letting me know the progress and about how much it would be. The price was very reasonable and the zipper repair work was very nicely done. Overall, I had a great experience and I plan on returning and letting friends and family know about them. (After all, they've been around forever!!) For future reference, do not always read these bad reviews and completely rule the business out. read more

I was recommended this place for heel taps on my boots. As a new customer I walked in and honestly just thought I'd be greeted with great customer service. I would think any business would be especially grateful for any business but especially during a pandemic. I walked in and saw a sign on card board that said "Stand here". Not a problem and was greeted with a yell from another room but couldn't understood what was said. A few seconds later a woman appeared and said "yeah". I asked if they did heel taps and I walked to her to show her the boots. She took them and threw them on top of a box and mumbled "yeah but these are pretty bad". I said okay how much will it be and what's the soonest you could get them done. Mind you we are on opposite sides of the counter and on my side was another table that had boots and shoes lined up in front and we both are wearing mask. She explained the heel may need to be resized and IF they could do it the Max would be x$. During her telling me this information she picked up my boot twice more and threw it on the table and proceeded to lecture me that I can't wear them as much because I'm too hard on them. I explained to her my job and then further scolded me to say I should go buy several other pair and rotate. She scoffed and said they're not that expensive. I said well to me $150 is expensive. Did I mention she had a BMW out front!!! Well good for you but to me that's a lot of money. I walked to retrieve my boots as I now have made the decision to not do business with this company...EVER! Like not even 2nd chances. I was able to get one but she snatched the other and ordered me to stand on the other side of the room. I asked for my other boot twice and then asked if I should call the police. She slammed my boot now on the table and said I was nasty. Okay! This place is a shoe/leather goods repair place. My favorite yellow purse was fading so I decided to get it redyed (it was a really cheap purse but I really adored its shape and color). This place assured me that they could match it exactly for 30 dollars - this was Aug '08 btw. It almost cost more than the purse but I really liked it so I figured why not? A month later I checked in with them to see how they were doing and they said they were having trouble finding the right color. I wanted the color to be exact so I didn't mind waiting. I came back in November and still it wasn't done. I came back in January and the lady had the nerve to say "It's not done but don't worry about it, no one would wear a yellow purse during the winter time. I'll have it done in the spring." Who would say that? I actually have a coat that matched it perfectly and yes- I would wear a yellow purse during the winter time. I came by there a few times during the spring and it still wasn't done. After a few trips I finally got my purse today. In a few days it would have been a full year. Good grief. I was charged an extra 9 dollars because she said it the original price was an estimate. I thought WTF! She had my purse for a friggin year and still have the nerve to charge me an extra 9 dollars. The color was off and unevenly done. The edging is uneven and the purse feels weird. I really wished I didn't come here to have my purse dyed. It was a waste of money. I would not recommend this business. I took a old leather coat and 3 buttons. I wanted her to move the buttons over so it was tighter. I had lost a lot of weight and the coat was getting a little big but I loved the coat. She was a very sweet lady with a lot of things going on in her life but needless to say she lost my contact information. 3 wks later I checked up and it still wasn't done. She promised to have it by the next day but the next day only 2 buttons were on. The next day I got my coat back with 3 buttons. Wasn't bad work just perhaps a poorly run business. read more

My husband travels a lot and during a recent trip the airline damaged his bag. The repair the airline had done lasted one trip before it started to come apart again so I decided to see if a local shop could stitch up the bag before we went out and purchased another suit case. I took the bag in and got the repair done for a very reasonable price. The front is very cluttered but overall friendly staff and the repair was excellent. Is the world getting ruder? I went to Van's Shoes Repair 2/26/19(formerly on Main st) the other day. I had some time before work so, I called there to give a heads up I'd be by but, met with, "I'm with a customer." I thought, ok, well I'm headed that way. I drove over to the new location about 10 mins away. I walked in with no greeting by the owner , as she was with a "customer" I stood waiting for a chance to say Im just picking up, but never got a chance for about 7-8 mins. The customer and owner we're in a deep covo about the owners front entrance and signage while standing at the counter. I had thought, well just be patient but, this was some thing about her business and should have been private. The customer had to re-search for keys in her purse, and then re-find a charge card to pay., on and on The owner kept talking about her own daughter and the dean's list with no concern for a line forming (me)..finally the customer turned to leave and the owner acknowledged me. I said, I'm about to be late but..." and she said "WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH ME?" and it was weird and rude and then the customer said, "hello I am Mrs. Else Odem" and wanted to shake my hand..ugh...soo, she was an important customer, as opposed to me, a just" run of the mill" customer. I would have bolted never to return but these shoes were expensive and Ive seen her table of shoes for sale that were never picked up items. I was then told, I needed my ticket to have my shoes (hence the table of shoes for sale). I couldn't find my ticket, I hadn't had the time to swing by until now ( 3 weeks later). I opened the door to go to the car to search and took a moment to answer something the owner asked me. She then told me to, "SHUT THE DOOR THE HEAT IS ON." It was 62 degrees out. I got the ticket and got the shoes and told her, "I'll never be back, your rude."..and as she was talking back all ticked off, I said, "I better shut the door, the heat is on." The service was so terrible that I finally decided that I'd rather lose my deposit than deal with this store's terrible mistreatment any longer. I week after dropping off my shoe, any time I called or ask about the status of it, I was rudely yelled at by the lady in front. Rather than informing me that my shoe would take longer than intended to be fixed, she waited until we arrived at the store on the date it was scheduled to be fixed by and said, verbatim "Well honey, things don't always get fixed in a week." Then she refused to give me a date where it would be fixed and informed me that she had other customers to tend to. Also, I, as a paying customer, do not appreciate the store I'm trying to give my business to, start yelling at me. In any manner. When I called back to ask about the status of my shoe, she unprofessionally put me on speakerphone and proceeded to yell at me. She excused her yelling by responding that she had "Other stuff to do, so therefore I had to be on speakerphone with her." This is by far, the most unprofessional store I had ever been to. I am not begging you to fix my shoes for free. As a customer, I expected a certain amount of professionalism and even basic human manners in a retail environment . I had my Italian leather jacket scratched up by the cat (story for another day). I did not have very high hopes for repair, but figured it was worth a shot. Van's was able to smooth down and glue all of the nicks, match the color, and restore it to wearable condition with great attention to detail. They can't work miracles, but the end result was much better than I expected and cost $32. If you have damaged leather goods you can probably get them repaired for far less money than replacing them. I'm glad an old-school repair shop like this is in business still. The only problem I had though was time. It's a family business and sometimes short-staffed it seems, so the timeframe for the job was pretty vague and kept expanding. This is a shop that will do a very good job on repairs but you might be wondering when the job will be done.
