I also had symptoms of glaucoma for which he prescribed other drops and some pillls. Many months later, the blurriness was getting worse and worse, and he just said to increase the drops. I have finally gotten a second opinion and a thorough diagnostic procedure. It seems I have severe glaucoma and a block in the retinal vein. We are new to…read moreFort Collins and needed to find a doctor who could get us in for an appt quickly, because our son (who is nonverbal) popped out one of the lenses on his glasses and can't tell us where to find it :) Our son is a busy little guy who will smile at you one minute, while trying to escape whatever room he's contained in--in the next minute. And while he is normally quite joyful, our little man is terrified of doctors and will chant "Nope, Nope, Nope" as soon as we enter any sort of medical office. Dr. Abby and the team at Rocky Mountain Family Vision were truly incredible and exceeded all my expectations. When we first entered the lobby, the staff didn't mind when my son quickly grabbed a leaf off a plant and ate it, while I was attempting to fill out paperwork. Seriously, the staff didn't even flinch. Then, I was especially impressed with how the staff honored my request to not move us into the exam room until the doctor was ready to see us. You'd be surprised how rarely this request is accommodated. When my son wouldn't cooperate with the fancy equipment (to get a good picture of his eyes), the team wasn't frustrated and opted for a traditional eye exam, where Dr. Abby very patiently would shine a light near our son's eyes to evaluate his vision. It took at least 20 minutes, but she did it and we left the office with an updated prescription and a new set of glasses ordered. Other parents of children with autism can probably relate to this when I say it's super challenging when a doctor announces the appt over, when it's really not--because as parents, we have to checkout with the front desk etc. Then comes the confusion and tantrums because our kids have an especially difficult time waiting. Dr. Abby and her team let us wait in the exam room while the front desk did the checkout paperwork, so when it was time for us to leave, we walked right out the door. I would wholeheartedly recommend Rocky Mountain Family Vision and will be back. And even if the next visit doesn't go as well as today's did, I'm confident the team is up to the task.

On the other hand, there is a staff member there that can be very rude and passive aggressively judgmental with any option you choose that is not hers. At first, she comes off helpful, then she starts judging you and your choice of frames. To say the least, I felt belittled and not treated with respect. I normally don't go out of my way to submit bad reviews, but I wanted to share my experience to hopefully brace any future or existence customers that go to Carbon Valley Eye Care. It's unfortunate that that one experience is making me contemplate taking my business elsewhere. My suggestion as someone who has worked in customer service for 12 years, it might be a good idea to have some sort of frequent customer service training (there are plenty of online trainings that don't cost much and would really help staff make customers feel respected and welcomed) it's such a simple skill that unfortunately for some has to be learned.

I do highly recommend them both however I cannot say the same for the office staff or the lab that makes their lenses. The glasses I purchased were loaded with all the extras (anti-glare, anti-scratch, polycarbonate, photo sun, etc.) however within a year I noticed that the lenses seemed cloudy and no amount of cleaning made it better. I took them to the office and they replaced the lenses under a 2 year warranty. Thought everything was good. Unfortunately when I went back to replace them again for the same issue (called crazing) I was told that they couldn't honor the warranty on the replacement lenses as the warranty only covered the first pair! Worse yet, the woman I spoke with insisted that the only way that this would occur is if I left them in extreme heat which I had not. It didn't matter, she insisted that "everybody does this when they take them off and leave them on the dash" (something that I never do!). It didn't matter, she was convinced that the issue was mine and only due to my leaving them in a high temp environment - couldn't be anything else! Interestingly my record showed these lenses being replaced twice for this issue and somehow I don't have any recollection of that. I suspect that it really is a quality issue with the lab that this office uses as I purchased a different set of glasses from an eye doctor in Firestone (scheduling issue trying to get in with CV Eye Care) and haven't had any issues with crazing of the lenses for that pair. My wife recently took her glasses back to CV Eye Care for the same reason (first time) and they replaced the lenses without any issue (she spoke with someone else). The lack of customer service from this woman and the real possibility that they are using an inferior lab for their lenses makes it clear to me that I should take my business elsewhere.

I have now asked a total of seven times, and they sent yet another postcard, received today. My last call, I got some tool at the front desk, who had an attitude and no intention to help and who hung up on me at the end of the call.... I definitely was assertive (bc they seem to refuse to leave us alone), but definitely was not rude nor did I use any sort of bad language. My take on this is..... They know are a horrible company and yet they keep doing all the stuff that makes people angry at them. Do yourself a favor and never set a foot in their door.... if you do, you will regret it for a long, long time. Since I was unhappy with the prescription, not the glasses themselves, I decided to return to Dr. Hulme, who performed my initial examination for his thoughts. Nikki, gave me every reason not to return. Her absolutely poor attitude toward me as a customer was completely uncalled for. She argued with me as to why I can't focus or read with my current prescription lenses and told me to go back to LensCrafters if I wasn't happy. After much back and forth, she ended the call by hanging up on me. I will not be returning to Dr. Hulme's practice and will tell anyone I can to do the same. I hope this helps with your decision-making in choosing an eye doctor. I was and am completely disappointed with this practice. I will continue to use another optometrist from now on.
