The lashes she used felt light & didn't bother me even when she applied 2 sets. Happy w/ my hair, all curled & left down. Lasted all day too. I'm glad I did a trial w/ her before the actual event, because my impression afterward was that she likes high fashion/photo make up. Styles you only see in magazines. I knew for the actual event I'd "tone down" what I originally wanted, and that worked for me. I received many compliments at my wedding. I'm a fan. The looks were done with a light hand. Nothing cakey or heavy. Van was very easy to work with. You just have to tell her what you want. Plus, that's what trials are for too. I was referred to Van by a friend and also by the place where I got my wedding gown. She was at my venue on time and was done in time for photographer. I would recommend her for your big day too. It made mine and the bridal party's morning so much more relaxing. We just had to sit around looking pretty. I'm not sure what happened with the other reviews and can only speak from my experience....I would go with her again if I had to. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I feel I know makeup and there were just a couple small things that could have been avoided ;) Know what you want and don't want! On the day of my first and only trial, Van was 50 minutes late. I received several texts from her assistant citing that she's on her way. 20 minutes later, I received a text from Van citing that she just now on her way. Another 25 minutes went by and I received a text from Van that she just arrived to her house. We arrived after waiting 50 minutes past our appointment time. She didn't apologize but seemed annoyed that I arrived moments after she told me she had arrived to her house. I am glad I did as you will see why. During the trial, I told showed her photos of the look I wanted, however at the end, I felt the ugliest I have ever felt. I turned away from the mirror twice because I was mortified. My bridal hair was sloppy and no where near a simple side bun. My makeup was not what I asked for. the entire appointment was rushed. My appointment was 1.5hr long but even though she was 50 minutes late, she did not offer to spend an extra 50 minutes to adjust my makeup and hair. Based on my reaction, she knew I was unsatisfied. We spoke what needed to be changed but instead of fixing it on the spot, she told me not to worry and she'll make it right one my wedding day. Are you kidding me? You're 50 minutes late, rushed through paid trial and you can't even do one eye to reassure me that although this may not be your best work, that you can get the job done? After I left, it took less than an hour for my airbrush run off and the bobby pins to fall out. I was completely traumatized and did not want to return. She does wonders for many, but her tardiness, lack of responsibility and business tactics need a major transformation. I do not recommend a person who is negligent of other's time. The last thing you need is a vendor who is unreliable. read more

Tried to contact her for 2 hours with no response that day, when she finally responded (after the ceremony) she said that she put me down for the following week. Most of our contact was through text, if she would have looked in there she would have gotten the right date, or check with her scheduler and her assistant which did my make up for the trial. Highly unprofessional. She kept going back and forth with me. We even had a phone conversation with her confirming at 11:44 am and asked me to come to her place at 1 pm today. When I got to the address she didnt pick up my phone calls and seemed to have blocked my text messages because they went from blue to green. Wasted not only an hour of my time getting to her given address and driving back to my place but I couldve booked someone more reliable since I cancelled a hair appointment because she let me know she could do my hair. I have never had such an experience with a "professional". I have emails to prove she confirmed with me. And text messages with her responding to me and confirming. I don't care who you are at least have the decency to cancel with your client if you can't keep your commitment and certainly do not block their phone calls and messages if you made a mistake with scheduling. read more

First off Van is amazing!!! I'm that type to not know so much about make up and when I met her at the Bridal Bizarre I was very comfortable with her. I booked my trial and I was blown away. I love she has all her work on Instagram so I was ready to show her what I was thinking for my big day. The hair and make up was beautiful. On top of Van being amazing at hair and make up. I was interested in getting my eyebrows done with ombré coloring. Before I hardly had any and always have been not thrilled with how light they were but man I am in love with them. Van is SUCH a sweetheart and extremely talented at what she does. On my wedding day, I felt beautiful. I felt like I looked exactly the way I wanted to! My makeup didn't feel or look overdone at all, and it was perfect in photos.
