Amy, the girl at the front, was very nice to me on the phone. She told me to come in any time I wanted for a drop-in eyebrow wax and even told me that someone would stay at the salon if I was going to run late after work. That is amazing customer service. The building is really cool with a well done interior. You can tell that it is a well oiled machine and it has been functioning successfully for a while. I gave this place 4 stars because while everything else is a 5, the eyebrow wax I received was a 2 and I don't want to bring down the yelp rating for this place based on a wax given to me by one person. This was the most money I had spent on an eyebrow wax, for the worst-looking eyebrows I have ever had. I should have spoken up before i left so she could fix it. The girl was young and it seems like maybe she doesn't have much experience based on the comments she made about my eyebrows and the poor quality of the job. I used to love this place. Rachel was amazing but she no longer works here. I made an appointment to take my the red out of my naturally blonde hair so I could start the process of going back to blonde. 120$ just to have a lady do my hair okay and be horridly rude to me the whole time. The owner (and I think only hairstylist) did my hair. She sat me down and immediately asked "when did you do this to your hair?" Clearly displeased at what she had to work with. I told her that I had it done at her salon. She kept asking me questions about my previous appointment and when I told her I did not remember she kept asking the same question as if I was lying. She told me it was going to be expensive, this I knew, I had been here before. I should have left when she started to brush my hair with a clearly dirty brush with so much hair in it I could see it in the mirror, but I didn't. The next 2 hours proceeded to the be bitchiest hair appointment of my life. She complained that everyone comes in expecting her to reinvent the wheel by turning red back to blonde. The exact thing I was in there hoping she could do. (I was upfront and told her I expected this process to take a couple appointments). Her customer service skills were terrible. She was impossible to talk to. Anything I talked about she insulted or put down. My future plans. The fact that I was a student. Everything. By the end of the appointment I barely talked at all. I didn't make an appointment to cut my hair but she offered to do it. I said if she had enough time that would be great. She brushed my hair (with the dirty brush again ew) and then started looking at my hair and said I need to check my schedule ran out and said she didn't have the time. I wish I could believe that that was true. But since she was so rude the whole appointment and judging by her facial expressions (Plus no one was waiting), I think she just looked at my hair and decided she didn't want to do it. I don't understand how she got enough money to even buy this place; she has a terrible disposition. I regret going here so much. This used to be such a great salon. Totally worth it when Rachel and Mandy worked here. The actual dye job itself wasn't bad. It was better than what I came in with. She weaved blonde in to my red. The only part I was disappointed by was that she didn't dye my roots at all. The part that looked terrible was the underside of my hair in the back didn't get weaved at all. What the hell? It looks so inconsistent! She knows I'm trying to go back to blonde why would she leave such a large chunk so dark? I will never go here again. My mother, brother and I all used to go to Rachel, and this lady has turned me off so hard. It's not worth it for the aveda hair dye. read more

As a dude I've never wanted to pay more than $20 to get a hair cut. But after a happenchance experience at Vanity about five years ago when I still lived in Old Town, I've gone there ever since. So I have gone here 3x. The first time I had a fabulous experience and my hair looked great. The last two times I left with my bangs being obviously uneven after I asked her to fix them. I gave her a second chance because of how awesome my hair looked the first time and she was really nice but 2x in a row with crooked bangs...no no. She didn't even notice I had to tell her when they were obviously uneven. But here is the real kicker - why I am actually writing a review is because of the BITCH OF AN OWNER. I spent good money in her salon and she made THE RUDEST comment to me. I was trying to make small talk with her and she was complaining about her inlaws so I mentioned that my bf's mom talks alot....just a little comment....you know what she said back to me? After she rang me up for $100 she said, "Shes probably just anxious. You know worried that you're going to get knocked up and trap her son for life." NO JOKE. I was speechless and didn't really say anything back to her so I had to talk some shit on here. I am not the first person to have a bad experience with her either. I have heard other stories similar.
