I saw Dr. Rex Hsei for an eye exam. When he walked into the room, he said, well, I can't make you a…read moreperfect prescription as there is something wrong with your eyes. That scared me as he had not yet looked at my eyes. Then he said, you have cloudy lenses due to cataract. I asked when I might need surgery and he said it depends on how well you need to see. Something didn't feel right about what he was saying. I got a second opinion and the second doctor, not in the Bay Eye Medical group, said you have a trace amount of cataract and you wouldn't even qualify for surgery. So, I won't be going back to Dr. Hsei.

After being a patient of Dr. Allaman's…read moresince 2016, I was treated like a second-class citizen since, as I was clearly told during today's appointment, "Dr. Alllaman ONLY does surgeries". Since I've already had cataract surgery in both eyes, I am no longer of use? I am 65 and have not had my eyeglass prescription checked in 2 years, but when I was FINALLY seated (30 minutes late), the technician came at me with dilatating drops. I stopped her because even I know that would happen AFTER checking for a potential new prescription. At this point, I was ushered to another building, to a dirty office to see a nice old doctor, who completed my exam, gave me the new prescription, then led me BACK to Allaman's office, where I had to pay $100 more than expected. Still trying to figure how what just happened, will find another doctor next year!

Allaman Eye Care & Associates is truly an incredible ophthalmology practice that has given me…read moreabsolutely marvelous eye care for several years. Dr. Allaman is a wonderful surgeon. I have had two cataract surgeries and my vision is fantastic. He also put a stent in each eye, which is a duct that relieves eye pressure (glaucoma) - now both eyes are normal pressure. Dr. Allaman is very pleasant and polite, but very professional and gets right down to business with very little extraneous chit-chat, as he is incredibly busy. He has an absolutely phenomenal staff. They are warm, kind, and very friendly, but incredibly skilled and good at what they do. I usually have questions that I forget to ask when I'm in the office, but a call to the office later, gets you a quick and friendly answer. It is amazing how many people Dr. Allaman sees in a day. He has five exam rooms that are usually full, but has adequate staff to go through initial exam procedures for each patient. Even with the mass volume of patients the most I think I have ever waited was 10 to 15 minutes. I am extremely thankful to Dr. Allaman for giving me the gift of good vision.

As I called this morning to check the time I stop at Dunkies for a coffee get to Pearl Vison and I open the door and there a women who info I can't bring my coffee in that I just bought . I said well I have no place to put I took Lyft and she looked at me .. So I left so I go to Marshall to wait for a ride and I vet a call asking where I was for my appt. I info. I was there and had a coffee and no place to put for if I knew about not bring it I. I wouldn't if bought it but I just bought the coffee and I not throwing it away that throwing money away I don't have . Then she says it always been there so I replied not when I went there last .. I personally can not stand ppl tell me what I see or don't ,when I am yelling or not .. So here a thought the customers always right ..

If I could give a negative rating, I would. Front office, nurse, and billing office are not…read morethorough with whether the work is covered by my insurance. I got Dr Chen's phone number and office location from my insurance website indicating he is within network. Went for the appointment and the front office took a copy of my insurance card, then ask for a co-payment upfront. This indicated to me that the appointment was covered by my insurance. When it came to scheduling for surgery, the nurse did not bother to check whether the medical providers and procedures were covered by my insurance, nor tell me if the cost will or won't be covered by my insurance. I canceled my surgery one day before the procedure. Then came the billing for the office visit. I provided the billing office with what I pulled off of my insurance website, which is using the NPI of Dr Chen. But they insisted on using Retinal Diagnostics NPI, which is not in my insurance network. What a mess! If their medical providers are going to use their phone and address, you'd think that Retinal Diagnostics will coordinate with their physicians to make sure any services provided by their providers at their site would be listed in insurance website. Don't use this center. They DO NOT CARE if their services are covered in your insurance plan! The staff at the institution I finally had my surgery performed were diligent in checking first with my insurance plan before they book the procedure. Not Retinal Diagnostics.
