Banyan Day School - Hats off to the wonderful staff and their dedication.

Banyan Day School

As self-employed business owners and involved parents, it was incredibly important for us to find…read morethe right preschool to entrust the care and early education of our two sons and daughter. Each day brings us peace knowing that our beloved Banyan consistently excels in: - strong open parent to teacher communication - safety and wellbeing (the campus is simple, homey and beautiful, located in the heart of Coral Gables with a high fence and single entrance accessible only by keypad) - a loving and nurturing staff with quality year-round care including summer camp (the director truly empathizes with working parents as she is one herself!) - appropriate routines with respect to authority and rules (very important nowadays) - a traditional creative curriculum with an emphasis on the whole child development (thorough report cards evaluating social/fine/motor skills given per semester with teacher check-in's) - small class size (no more than 8/9 students with one principal teacher and one assistant per class) - inclusive learning styles (yes, for those who need extra help especially pandemic kiddos-- shoutout to Banyan's accommodations and the therapists who come to campus) - a solid introduction to academics (with Spanish) that prepares them well for competitive entry to any elementary school - clean classrooms, learning equipment, playground and bathroom settings (bless all of our amazing teachers who help with potty training) - and most importantly instills an excitement and love of learning with fun and play The preschool is managed by three sisters who have extensive experience, knowledge and a whole lot of passion for education since 1986. We respect, trust and admire their guidance. While their success is seen daily in the kids' happiness, it also lives in the generational students and families who have been at Banyan for many years. You'll hear and see that Banyan graduates from the 80s/90s return to enroll their own kids. This speaks volumes to their important work...they are building a legacy! Next week marks the start of our third year. Their curriculum unfortunately ends in Kindergarten, but we are thrilled (and relieved) to still call Banyan home for several years to come. We are thankful for the lifelong friendships, childhood memories and their commitment to instill a strong academic and social foundation in our children. Banyan Day School is THE blessing we needed for our family. All said with a grateful heart, we simply could not do this journey without them.

I cannot thank the Sisters (not nuns) that runs this bilingual day school enough! My boys, who are…read morevery hyper and active, absolutely love going to school. They enjoy it so much that they insist I pick them up at the very end of the day! I'm especially thrilled to share that my 5-year-old is now reading full books! His love for learning has flourished here. I wholeheartedly recommend this school to any parent looking for a nurturing and engaging environment. Thank you, ladies, for fostering my boys and creating such a wonderful, playful learning atmosphere. We love you!

If I can give "0" stars I would. This school is so chaotic it's insane. The administration has…read moreabsolutely no class the lack of communication is incredible. The answer to any question or concern is basically " we are a private charter school we can do whatever we want" not joking. nothing was told to us about not being able to provide an after school program 2 days before the start of the year !!!!!! Totally unprofessional/unacceptable. Basically the short version. My wife was told 2 days before there will be no after school for pre-k she basically stated she hasn't been happy with the way administration has been handling things ex. Principal and vice principal going on vacation at the same time 14 days before the school year starts. Principal called my wife and stated "if you don't like the way administration handles the school then maybe your child won't be happy here". This place is a joke

This school is a piece of work starting from administration sleeping with parents to bullying being…read moreover looked and your children being ignored due to favoritism . Additionally the children complain about the bread always being stale and the lunch only being good on Friday "pizza day". The pick up line is a nightmare even if you arrive 30 minutes prior to pick up and are the first person in line officers will make you move essentially making you the last in line because they cannot have cars blocking traffic being a two lane street . Additionally the school does not allocate funding properly for the best interest of your Childrens education if your child is spectrum or has any kind of learning disability this school will straight up fail them rather than using the additional resources "charter schools" have to help your child catch up . Lastly the school is in a very bad neighborhood with a food stop just one building down which has drunk men sitting on the corner publicly drinking beer and smoking out of pipes .

Thanks to the small class sizes, attention is personalized and relationships are strong--it's a close-knit community where everyone feels like family. One of the most beautiful aspects of Aguamarina is its emphasis on teaching values and uplifting self-care messages. Children are encouraged to be kind, brave, cool and confident, and these lessons are woven naturally into their everyday experiences. The school is also deeply committed to sustainability and planet-friendly practices, modeling environmental responsibility in everything they do. Learning at Aguamarina is joyful and hands-on. Kids explore through play, creativity, and real-world experiences rather than memorizing or tracing. It's an approach that sparks curiosity and builds a lifelong love of learning.
