I would like to single out one educator that my child and our family have had the pleasure of having for Kindergarten and now 1st Grade. Ms. Yanes has shown nothing but love, compassion and patience with her students. Ms. Yanes is exactly what we expected in this warm environment filled people who prioritize education and the simple love of learning.

I love this school. My eldest is in 3rd grade and my middle in Kindergarten. Most parents looking…read moreto get their kid accepted to Perrine are trying out for the Magnet program in 3rd grade. Perrine is an Arts magnet school. (Art, Music, Dance, Theater) Which means you are practically a shoe-in for Southwood Middle (An arts magnet middle school). And then from there, your chances at Coral Reef Sr are better (The best public high school in the county, and a super magnet school, which means there is no home school population). But there is more to Perrine then just the pathway to Coral Reef Sr. The administration is so involved. If you want to speak to Ms. Rivas, just talk to her on the sidewalk. She's outside directing traffic every morning. They have a lot of great teachers, who have been there forever. Of course, what can really change the fun/social aspect of any school is how good the PTA is. So be the positive change you are seeking in the world. Now that I have become more involved in the PTA, I love the school more. PTA just bought the new computers for the 3rd computer lab. Dances, ice cream after school, fundraising parties at Chuck E Cheese... It's not just to raise money but to give the kids a chance to socialize and have fun! It's not just the administration and teachers but the students and parents that make a school great!

The level of education provided seems different than that of a regular public or magnet school. The amount of homework given is definitely more than most, but my daughter has soared since attending school here. Her 1st Grade teacher is amazing and still checks on her even though she is no longer in her class. (I am not including her name to keep other teachers from being jealous ) The parents are active in the school as well. They recently held an event called SMACK Night where it dealt with Science and Math activities (Science and Math Activities Connecting Kids). This is not the only event that the school holds. They beautify their campus by Campus Cleanups. They have a Butterfly Garden. All of the activities get the parents and students involved with the school as well as develop pride in the school as well. Mr. Calzadilla is a great principal, and he has amazing Asst. Principals, teachers, and Support Staff as well. OH, most importantly, the school has been an A school for many years and it is a Green School as well. I can go on and on about this school simply because the school, and it's employees, have earned it! Check their website for the Magnet Application. www.airbasek8.net

Ever since Amanda Delgado became principal, the environment has totally changed. People walk on eggshells. Parents are scared to speak up because they've seen what happens when they do. What used to be a caring, family like community has turned cold and tense. So many amazing teachers are gone, and what's left doesn't inspire much confidence. Communication with parents is basically nonexistent we're left in the dark about everything unless it's a last-minute demand or payment. It's really sad what the school has become under this administration. We stayed as long as we could, but it's not worth the stress or fear anymore. We're done.
