i was involved in an accident involving my car and my mom's car on june 27th; i backed into her car. the car was towed to vandevere on june 29th. that evening, chris said he would speak with my ins company in the morning and give my mom and i a call to let them know what they said about a rental car; we never heard from him. i finally called him on july 8th asking for information and he said he'd call me right back. an hour and a half later, he called me back. i was asking where he was in the process of fixing my mom's car, what the estimate was, ect. he said he couldn't really tell me much because he had already shut his computer down for the day, so basically that was a useless phone call. my mom called him on monday july 11th and he stated he had sent the estimate for her car to my ins company. 30 minutes later, i called the ins company because i wanted to know the amount of the estimate, and the ins agent, john, said he hadn't received anything from them at all. so i had to make another call to chris to get him to send them and i asked for copies for myself, told him he could email them to me. that was at about 930am. 1130am rolls around, nothing in my email; so i called him again. he said, they'll be sent in 5 minutes. i didn't receive them until about 3pm. he never got any signatures from me or my mom for anything, no paperwork was even exchanged at all. and my mom specifically asked him not to use after market parts on her car. that night, july 12th, while reading over the estimates, it clearly states that he did use aftermarket parts. in the meantime, metlife (my insurance company) had already put a check in the mail for the amount of her estimate, in her name; and they did the same for my estimate, the very next day (july 13th & 14th). after all the mess that we had to go thru and having to wait nearly 2 weeks just for an estimate, my mom and i both decided that there was no way we wanted vandevere to touch our vehicles. however, when she called for a tow to get her car towed to the new show she wanted it worked on at, vandevere told her she had to pay an 85$ towing charge for when they had it towed there. even though john at metlife had already assured me that towing was covered, even if we moved the car to a new shop. this business is absolutely terrible and dishonest. as a single, 26 year old woman, with no knowledge of vehicles, i feel very strongly that they tried to take advantage of me.
bottom line, do not take your car here! read more
