I have been a patient in Vanderbilt and St. Thomas for 73 years have never had a bad experience. I called him last week about a new skin cancer needing to be removed and when they found out how long I had been letting moved me up from the fall to that day. That was Friday, 15 September 26 and I'm having a biopsy today on the 17th at 1:30. I cannot fall the people that I deal with. And any department at Vanderbilt thank God for them. I've had Moe's surgery. From to California back to Texas and now Tennessee. And they are far more most caring people and considerate that I have had including all the years of being an Air Force wife. You want horror stories just Join or Mary a military citizen. I've got them by the million millions! I do have to give the Navy the highest credit, I I had ear surgery at Balboa hospital in San Diego California while I was there attending my business they were absolutely professional, kind and considerate. Dr. Gibson was kind enough to tcall my son in MX to give him an update on my prognosis, he was so upset that Dr. Gibson gave him all the time he needed. My son called the research center from CO as his father suffered 47 yrs. W/Agent Orange & we got together with their research team who admitted but could not alleviate his pain, not for their lack of trying. read more

Well to start off, it has taken 1 week to get a call back for scheduling an appointment. I called back to find out why I have not received a call to get an appointment and they said they would call me back that it had to be done by scheduling. So today is Friday and I am on hold, the lead is going to call me back. Scheduling is not doing their job, so if you want an appointment, I would go to the office and if they are in the office do it there. Again, I am a fan of the medical service Vanderbilt provides. It's a health leader and we're lucky to have them in our backyard. Speaking as someone who lived in a city with area-wide poor healthcare options, I give thanks (often) for Vanderbilt. In other Yelp cities, medical service reviews are a bit more robust. So, knowing that a truckload of people arrive in Middle Tennessee every day, I am paying it forward in case one of them are looking for a dermatologist. Online research and asking other physicians led me to Dr. Zwerner. I've been fortunate to have had great dermatologists for the past decade and three cities. I didn't want to screw up my streak. After asking around and being a patient of his, I feel confident that I am in good hands. Beyond being knowledgeable and helpful, Dr. Zwerner is accessible and speaks in lay language so that I always know what's going on. Unlike the other reviewer*, I have never had significant wait times to see the Dr. I check in, lounge in the waiting room for no more than a few minutes and am called back and on my way to service. Dr. Zwerner has always been extremely respectful of my time and he's able to do that by keeping a tight schedule. Despite this, I've never been rushed through an appointment and during my yearly skin checks he's taken a prolonged amount of time to go over everything. When I've had to go in for acute, specific reasons, he's been able to access the issue, diagnose it, explain it to me in a way I can understand, and set up a follow-up to ensure that things resolve in the way they should. I leave my appointments feeling confident in my care and secure in my knowledge. Dermatologists are more than pimple poppers. Find yourself a good one. *And, admittedly, that sucks. read more

I've been a patient here for two years. I previously have had melanoma and was referred to Dr. Fine as a dermatologist. Being new to the area I had to trust others. The location is wonderful with easy access and plenty of parking. The facility is clean and well maintained. This is important to me. Dr. Fine has always been professional and explains everything thoroughly. He takes his time and respects my concerns. The little moose he wears on his jacket makes me smile. Excellent bedside manner. Gentle when removing questionable spots. My only improvement would be the front desk. Sometimes there is only one person at the desk with a few people waiting. Other times there are several people working but busy chatting to each other. read more

this place sucks tremendously bad. I come here for phototherapy for psoriasis because it's the only place in town. if you schedule an 8am appointment they will tell you to be here at 7:45 just to see you at 8:20. I try to get the early appointment before work but they have zero respect for anyone's time. read more

Had an 8 O'clock appt for a small spot on my wife's nose. Initial nurses came in for prep, things were not ready and they seemed very unorganized. Finally got prep done, and nurse done procedure about 9 O'clock. Sent skin sample to lab, said it would be 30 45 min. At 11:10, they came back with results and said come back in 30 minutes for skin repair. Plastic surgeon finally came back at 1 pm and gave options for repair. Now, at 1:10 pm, we have to wait another hour to get the repair done, total disrespectful for my time when everyone goes to lunch and blows off appt times. I had my long awaited (3.5 months out was a the soonest they could see me when I called) appointment at Vanderbilt Dermatology this morning. The appointment was on my calendar for 8:30am, but the day before I received a text from them with an arrival time of 8am. Not sure if I put the time in my calendar wrong, or if they wanted me there early to sign paperwork as it was my first appointment, I decided to be safe and arrive a 8am. When I walked in, I was able to immediately walk up to the counter to get checked in and I told the gentleman helping me I wasn't sure if my appointment was at 8 or 8:30, and he confirmed the 8:30am time that I had on my calendar. When I explained I got a text asking me to arrive at 8, he said they recommend getting there 30 min early in case there is a long line at check in...which there wasn't this time, so that was a little annoying. I got called back by a nurse at 8:33am, so I didn't have to wait long after my actual appointment time. Once I was called back I was walked through a maze of rooms and hallways to get to my exam room...on the way back I must have walked by at least 6 doctors (or what I can only assume were doctors based on their white coats)...so it's very surprising to me that they are booked out 3.5 months....oh, but wait, they're not. Come to find out from speaking with the nurse, they only book so many new patient appointments each week leaving the rest open for current patients, so in theory, after your initial 3-4 months wait, you should be able to get any follow up appointments fairly quickly. This may be common practice in health care, but that doesn't make me any less annoyed when it happens. Once I got back to an exam room, the nurse spoke with me about my concerns, and Dr. Fine came in shortly after. The was very patient listening to my concerns and confirming what I thought was the issue, then talked to me about different treatment plans. He answered all of my questions thoroughly and I fee comfortable and confident with my treatment plan mocking forward! This was an over all good experience, that started off with some frustration, but ended on a high note. read more

I have been trying to make an appointment here for a while. A gal named Kathy helped me but the appointments are so far into the future (first available) and this annoys me as my daughter and I are return patients and I have another new patient to add into the mix so good grief on how long we are having to wait for her appointment. You know teenage hormones don't care and breakouts will keep coming and we want an appointment as soon as possible to rectify this issue. I'm trying to go here for insurance reasons but seriously this is ridiculous Vanderbilt. Kathy deserves a raise and praise but Vanderbilt dermatology gets a thumbs down on trying to find availability on their schedule. I visit Dr. Jennifer Powers at Vanderbilt Dermatology in 100 Oaks. I have a family history with skin cancer. I also inherited Scottish pigment and worked as a lifeguard and lived in Florida, so I'm a frequent flyer to Dr. Powers. She is very thorough, friendly and most importantly competent. Her Harvard undergrad and Vanderbilt Medical is evident in her diagnosis and treatment. I highly recommend Dr. Powers. read more

I've been going to Vanderbilt Cosmetic Dermatology clinic for a few years now. I always see Dr. Stebbins. He's done Botox and used a laser to lighten sun spots on my face. After using expensive creams that promised to lighten my spots and never seeing any improvement, I became discouraged and thought I was doomed to pile makeup on for the rest of my life. Dr. Stebbins recommended the laser and explained the process. After a few visits the spots are completely gone and my confidence is back. My skin looks a million times better and I can go in public with bare skin! I can't thank him enough! read more

The one star that I am giving is for Dr. Powers I hope and pray that she leaves this practice. I would give her five stars for her treatment, time spent examining me and understanding my issues and for her professionalism. This office staff and the way the office is run makes no sense. I made my appointment in January earliest availability was April. So of course by appointment time I was anxious to discuss my skin issues and very much looking forward to the appointment. Big mistake!!!My appointment was 8:30 so I got there at 8:12 to give the office time for any paperwork. It was 9:15 before the called me back. That was only because I kept going to the reception desk to ask is this normal. Met with doctor that experience was pleasant. The doctor prescribed two medications. One needed a prior authorization from my insurance. I've never had a prescription that required this so I called the office the pharmacy sent the office a message and I sent two messages on myheathvanderbilt.com that gave the office the precise phone# of my insurance regarding prior authorization( so they wouldn't be transferred all over the place). 3 weeks pass I contact my insurance to see what's taking so long. The say they never received a request for authorization. I was furious. I called the office to ask why...no one knows what's taking to long. As of today no one from this office has contacted my insurance. My insurance says it takes about 3 minutes once the office contacts them read more
