I had a wonderful experience at Curcio Dermatology. I found their services through ZocDoc (confirming that they accept my insurance) and was able to schedule an appointment online. The day of my appointment I was ten minutes late (thanks, rainy Nashville traffic) but the office was very accommodating (I called to let them know that I would be late). Everyone was super friendly and patient, from reception to assistant techs and the physician herself. I felt well informed, respected, and heard during my appointment. I came in with a worrisome mole, which they were able to send off to labs immediately. The procedure was quick, painless, and I was pleased with the communication of aftercare. Every step of the way I was informed about what they were doing, if there would be any additional cost, and there was room for questions. Absolutely horrible experience - avoid this practice at all costs. I visited Curcio Dermatology in Nashville for a very minor skin irritation while I was in the U.S. The entire appointment lasted maybe 10 minutes. At check-out I specifically asked about any copay or balance because I live overseas and wanted to settle everything before leaving the country. I was told verbatim, "You're all set, nothing is owed today." Fast forward almost a full year later: my relatives in the U.S. forwarded me a collections notice for a $40 copay plus an additional ~$200 that my insurance had apparently already paid them. When I reached out (politely) to explain that I was told I owed nothing and asked for clarification, the response was immediate hostility. I was bombarded with aggressive emails from their billing person "Amu," complete with threats to send me to collections and damage my credit, even though I no longer live in the United States. It's now obvious what happened: they submitted an inflated or incorrect claim to my insurance, got paid more than they should have, and then tried to double-dip by billing me for the copay a year later when insurance wouldn't cover it retroactively. When I pointed out that I was explicitly told "you're all set" at the visit, they didn't care and just escalated the threats. Had I read the dozens of similar reviews complaining about predatory billing practices, surprise bills months or years later, and outright harassment from their billing department, I never would have stepped foot in this office. The medical care itself was ok (it was literally a 10-minute visit for something trivial), but the billing side is unethical and borderline predatory. Save yourself the headache and go literally anywhere else in Nashville. There are plenty of excellent dermatologists who don't resort to threats and collections scams over $40. Completely unacceptable. I will never return and strongly advise others to steer clear. read more

Dr. Curcio provided me with Botox injections. I noticed injections directly in the eyebrow line over my eye with bruising and a bubble below my eyebrow and wondered why she would inject in that spot. 4 or 5 days later my eyelid and eyebrow began to droop. When I contacted the office they thought I should wait longer to be seen in case the problem corrected itself. When I finally went in to see someone at the front desk to explain the issue further and let the Dr. see it, Dr. Curcio, who was sitting behind the receptionist in an office area, and after listening to my explanation, got up and literally sprinted away as the recep turned to ask her if she could see me. I had to insist on the Dr. seeing me as she tried to send me a message via the recep rather then look at the problem. Upon finally granting me her evaluation of her work she noted the droop from the Botox was one of the worst cases she'd seen. She noted she had done the same to her mother in law and it was simply unfortunate. There was little she could do. I asked why there was a needle mark and bruising in the eyebrow line as if filler had been injected there. She denied injecting filler there. I remember at the time of the initial apt wondering how could Dr. Curcio's possibly "Type A" personality and almost breathless (and controversial) conversational style help her focus well on the injections. I was not confrontational. I was calm, albeit worried but she was defensive. At that point my observations about the office became more of a concern to me as I assessed the business with a critical eye due to my experience; there are cameras at the front desk where patients give their personal information (I noticed another reviewer question their use of cameras). As well, her husband, who I don't believe is an employee or at least it's not public as to his employment status with her office, sat down at the computer and accessed files. Trust in the conduct, skill, credentials and professionalism of a Dr. and how they manage their practice is so important. The Dr never apologized, showed concern or followed up with a call and she seemed disdainful of me. It took 6 months for my eye to open normal again. A year later, my eye is not 100% better, I still struggle on some days with it dropping slightly. I hate to say this but it felt malicious. She didn't seem surprised when I showed her the problem, she wasn't apologetic, she tried to avoid seeing me to assess my problem...it felt shady. She got her money at the time of service but offered no refund or services in the future at a discount to monitor my recovery. She reminded me of the papers I signed and that I knew there was some kind of risk. I can tell you it was quite miserable of a recovery process for many months. If it can happen to me, it can happen to anyone. read more

I really like this office. All staff are friendly and genuinely care. I went here a few years ago to get help with a growth and the treatment turned out to not be a difficult experience at all, much simpler than I had expected. Recently I met with Dr. Curcio about cosmetic stuff and she is a total expert. They have MANY different treatments for all variety of cosmetic issues and Dr. Curcio explained everything extremely well and helped me decide on what would be best for me. Dr. Curcio and her team are amazing. Dr. Curcio is down to earth and easy to talk with. I was referred to her by another dermatologist for the vascular beam laser. It's approved to treat rosacea. I have severe flushing on my neck and chest. Some on my face too. I don't tan and the flushing and splotching are very obvious and people ask me if I'm having an allergic reaction. Dr. Curcio is the first MD to have a solution for me. I've had 5 laser treatments on my neck. 2 on my face and 2 on my chest. I still need more treatments on my chest. The success I've had with this has been life changing. If you suffer from flushing or getting blotchy then you understand this. If you want some before and after pics just inbox me. It's not cheap. Maybe your insurance will cover it but mine did not. If you pay for a package you can get a discounted rate. It does hurt. A lot. The face hurts the least. The neck is terrible but I took Tylenol beforehand, they provided stress balls to squeeze, and you can take breaks. It doesn't last a long time but I couldn't do 2 areas at 1 time. If you have this problem I highly suggest getting V beam treatments here. This condition only gets worse and if I had started treatment sooner then it wouldn't have taken so many sessions. I have been seeing Dr. Curcio for over a year- for various reasons ranging from medical to cosmetic- and I have been nothing but happy with my experiences. The front desk staff are professional and polite. The waiting area (and office in general) is beautiful, but you don't get to enjoy it for long because wait time is almost non-existent. In my many appointments there, I have never had to wait more than a couple of minutes (usually that's because I'm early). There is also almost zero wait time once you are in the exam room itself; usually Dr. Curcio is in the room before the assistant has even finishing rooming. I have never had anyone in Curcio's office try to sell me products, but I often ask for recommendations and am thrilled that they have options for purchase right there in the practice. I have become a huge fan of every product I have purchased there, and I occasionally make a trip to the office just to pick something up when I'm running low. In addition to the top notch staff from front desk to provider, I thoroughly enjoyed a DermaSweep facial that I had in the office as well. The aesthetician was on time, professional, and made sure I had a great experience. I was seen in July to have 3 spots checked...when I first met Dr. Curcio she didn't come off as very friendly and neither did her nurse so it made it a little uncomfortable at first. Come to find out they had a rough morning and I guess weren't in the best of moods. Dr. Curcio 10 minutes into my appointment seemed to be in a better mood and she answered all the questions and concerns that I had along with her nurse. The problem I have is having to pay a 30 dollar first time appointment fee. I understand people probably "no call, no show" often and it cost them. However, I have had to call 3 times since my appointment to get my refund back and each time I'm told "our office manager is out of town, I'll leave a note for them." ZERO STARS. Office manager said appointment was "recorded" several times. Is it audio and video recorded? Are there cameras in the patient care rooms? Are they videotaping patients in various positions of undress? Big Issue: Unidentified staff can start performing invasive measures and cleaning and probing of open wounds without reading medical chart or being familiar with patient or procedure. Dr. Curcio was defensive instead of responsible and stated the staff member does not need to identify themselves and that they weren't technically providing "treatment." Office manager/Dr.'s husband was rude, litigious, and stated all of this is recorded and that they would report the patient to their insurance provider? Their office is unprofessional. It will be reported to as many avenues as possible; to make people aware of their unprofessional acts. Hopefully no one else is mistreated. Dr. Curcio did admit that she did not treat what she was "treating" me for at initial exam, but the pathology would give me piece of mind of diagnosis. She was also going to prescribe medication that she did not think was necessary because I "demanded" it? No, there was never a demand, only request for specialist recommendation after assessment. What doctor ethically prescribes a prescription if they don't think it is necessary? I hope no one in her future care experiences something like this after what was seemingly a minor issue. read more

I came to Curcio based on her reputation as a top injector in Nashville. And that may be the case, but she is by far the most money hungry operation in town. If you read nothing else: I was charged $15.90/unit of Botox and they stood by it, even after quoting me two completely different rates. Never go here. Unless you wipe your behind with dollar bills, in which case, go ahead. The results are great and if money doesn't matter to you, be my guest! I'll start off by telling you that no matter what you end up deciding to do during the appointment, they charge your credit card a NON-REFUNDABLE $250 just to book the appointment. The balance goes toward whatever you decide to do, but it will not be returned to you. Ok... Wow. Crazy policy, so I hoped I felt comfortable with her when I got there. The whole policy sit right but I took the plunge. Should have trusted my gut. I went in for Botox for my forehead. I was quoted $350 for the 'full' site, regardless of the number of units. I asked what the number of units was or the cost per unit and they danced around the question and would not answer it directly. I asked about the "11s" or glabella because I thought I might want that as well. They said that was a half site and $180. Ok, cool. I can make my decisions in the exam room based on a budget, I think. Get in the exam room, she tells me why I need the glabella AND the forehead, and I take her expert recommendation as well as decide to buy a $250 bundle of skincare they were promoting (which I actually do like). She did mention with the Botox if I was unhappy or if anything was uneven to come in in 10 days- 2 weeks and get it touched up, no additional charge. Ok cool. I get to the front and they tell me I owed them $700 and change. Excuse me, what? $350(forehead)+ $180(glabella)+250(skincare)-$250 (deposit)= $530. I asked her how many units were used. They told me 20 on the forehead and 24 on the glabella. And they claimed that because she used more than was "typical" on the glabella that I was being charged the full site price for what I was told was a half site. I asked if they knew how much that was per unit, and what their per unit price was. Some finance guy came out from the back and said the per unit cost of their Botox was $14.38. I couldn't believe my ears. I then broke down the math for them and told them I was being charged $15.90/unit ($700/44 units). That is highway robbery for anyone who knows this business or does a simple Google search. They should be ashamed. They would not adjust my bill. Refused. I left super defeated but realized there was nothing I could do about being bent over by these people. But wait... gets better. A week later, my injections were uneven. I called to schedule the touch up and they told me I needed to wait longer and call back after a full 2 weeks. I waited until the full two weeks, and when I called to schedule, Nashville was in the middle of a snow storm. By the time they returned my call at the end of the week, a Friday, they said "if you can't come in on Monday at 3:40, that's the only appointment time available in the next 4 weeks. So if you can't make that, it'll be past 30 days since your original appointment and we will have to charge you for the FULL SITE AGAIN for the touch up because it won't be a touch up at that point." WHAT?! This is based on your schedule, not mine! What is wrong with these people?!? This is the worst customer service and price gouging I have ever seen in a service-based "healthcare" business. Profit hungry "experts" who treat their patients like a paycheck and nothing more. Never go here. They never tried to make anything right, only further exemplified their greed and unfathomable expectations of their clients to either pay up or shut up. I would have reported to BBB, but I'd rather let the public know never to step foot in their doors. Only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 is that my results were good. The experience however was awful. They don't even give you an ice pack beforehand to numb you, or post-procedure instructions on your way out the door. read more

Curcio said I took the sample without paying. I agreed that is true. They asked me to pay and I returned it because I thought it was free. They wanted $20 for the tiny sample of skin cream. I can not believe they filed a police report...of course...what would the charge be??? I never heard from any police.... I'm sure they did this because of my review....I have admitted everything that I did so what is there to lie about...I was a loyal customer very regular, even had a skin cancer removed in the short time since she moved here from California. After writing a negative, but very true, review for Curcio Dermatology, they chose to respond with slander and lies. After the first time they did this, I responded with reporting the exact same truth to the BBB, FTC and my insurance. Now Curcio Dermatology is continuing their slander campaign by also adding they will submit video feed of my entire appointment to "prove" how much a liar I am. 1. This is illegal. It violates all confidentiality HIPPA laws (something I mentioned to the BBB, FTC and my insurance) but also, 2. Go ahead and show the video! It would do nothing but absolutely prove my point. Before this incident, I have never been yelled at, bullied and shamed by a Dr. in front of an entire office, and then be apologised to by a receptionist because I had done nothing wrong. Roll the clip. I have complained about one or two other physicians in my life, which are easily checked on my profile, and if you notice their ratings, are well deserved. I visited the practice for both a facial and laser treatments. First I had a fabulous facial with Sarah who was just a lovely person and very professional in both evaluating my skin and matching a facial to suit my needs. I next saw Dr. Curcio for laser removal of sunspots on my hands and spider veins on my shin. She took a lot of time explaining the procedure and took the time to show me all of the advanced technology equipment she has in her facility. Dr. Curcio made sure that I had a realistic expectation of my results and did her best to make sure that I was comfortable during the procedure. A few weeks out there is marked improvement in the spots on my hands and my spider veins! Having visited many dermatological practices in my nearly 60 years I would emphatically say that this office is one of the cleanest and most aesthetically pleasing I have ever visited. What makes the practice truly exceptional in my view is the cutting edge technology and the warm and professional staff. My treatments were really exceptional! I went to Curcio Dermatology to get a laser treatment on a wart on my foot. when I had called to schedule my appointment , they charged me $ 250 .00 just to hold the appointment . when I went in and saw the doctor , she misdiagnosed and kept insisting that it wasnt a wart on my foot , and did not give me laser treatment as I was promised. she just scraped it a bit and thats all the treatment she gave. I called them back to get a refund on my money and their office manager started to harass me with a lawsuit if I made stop payment on my credit card. Extremely rude and money hungry place . She has always been professional, very nice and done a great job. She makes you feel comfortable and is very thorough. We found a spot on my mother's leg. She is 83 years old and is battling Alzheimer's. They accepted her as a patient and was very understanding with my mother. Dr Redding did a biopsy on her leg. Sadly we found out that it is cancer. The Dr was very compassionate and discussed all our options, and we based our decision on how to proceed after considering all the factors. I had rescheduled an appointment for full skin exam in The beginning of March for today. I did not remember the appointment. When I rescheduled the first time I did it the day of, however they said it was ok. This time, a few weeks later, I got a 75 dollar charge on my card. I called and they said I missed an appointment and claimed to call me the day before. I explained they never called me and with all that's going on, I would have cancelled. They still charged 75 for a regular medical appointment! Not even a cosmetic appointment. My insurance would have probably covered less for the visit. Never again read more

Went for a cosmetic consult. Paid a $250 consult fee, and was looking forward to the visit. She walked into the room with a folder containing a list of products she sold in her office and an IPL brochure. Without taking a history or doing a physical exam, she proceeded to spend 45 minutes describing every single product in her folder, then told me I would need the products and IPL ($500 per session, but my consult fee would be applied towards the fee). Again, this was all in the folder before she met me or knew anything about my skin history or medical comorbidities at all. Couldn't answer a basic question about her IPL laser, and told me I could read the brochure and visit the laser company's website. Expected much better for the price and will be looking for a more personalized experience before I let someone laser my face. read more

I have to say, I've seen many physicians in many fields of life. I myself am a professional in the medical field and have been for most of my life. Never have I visited a nicer, real, or more educated staffed facility. The employees are very pleasant and knowledgeable of their field. Dr. Curcio was top knotch resolving every concern I had. She kept things real and directly educated me over each spot we were dealing with on my body. I was quickly taken back to a patient's room where I stayed without rush with the doctor until all questions were resolved. She spent time needed with me without the feel of being rushed. She and her staff have wonderful bed-side manners, and I'd refer them to anyone. I also received results within 24 hours. I can only speak from the positive aspect for this facility, because I experienced nothing of the negative range from beginning to end. This is a class A facility. Dr. Curcio was friendly enough-talked a lot, but didn't seem to know what she was talking about when diagnosing a rash I had. She told me about random allergies I might have, not to drink milk-kinda went off on a tangent that was not pertinent to my issue. She gave me two prescriptions. They made the rash much worse and caused me to break out, so I had to return two weeks later. She charged me again for that visit which was disappointing since it was her error. After telling me she was in my network (ie took BCBS) I received a bill 2 weeks ago in March for a visit last July for $60! The insurance company said she was not in my network. Wish I had known. Maybe they could have mentioned it. So, anyway ended up paying almost $150 for an incorrect diagnosis. It is very frustrating. I think there are better dermatologists in Nashville. read more

Had my first visit with Dr. Curcio's office last week and couldn't have been happier. The office itself is in a great location and is very clean. I didn't even get a chance to sit down after exploring the lobby and their products before I was called back. Service was fast which I appreciate as I'm time sensitive. Marlee who was extremely nice and professional preformed the Dermasweep procedure which left my skin super clean and glowing. Nicole Curcio was the worst decision in specialized healthcare decision I ever made. I too, like other negative reviews here, was rushed through the whole visit. I scheduled a visit to look at small acne like bumps on my arms. She flew into the room and before even taking a close look told me I had 'Molluscum'. She did little to no explanation of what this condition even entailed, yet recommended that she freeze off all the small bumps on my arms with liquid nitrogen right then and there. Before I could even finish uttering my sentence of approval she border-line yelled to her assistant "NOTE THE PATIENT AGREED TO PROCEDURE", and proceeded the 'treatment'. After leaving her office not happy with her procedure or even convinced of the diagnosis at all, I googled 'Molluscum' and laughed. out. loud. I immediately scheduled another appointment with a highly rated dermatologist in Green Hills, and was told I was absolutely misdiagnosed. I merely was a victim of minor clogged pores, and Molluscum was an irresponsible diagnosis. I also consulted a close friend who has been a hospital lab technician for 15 years, who handles skin samples daily, and was told the same. On top of it all, they outsource their billing to somewhere "west coast", and trying to waive the additional 'Molluscum' procedure charges was a complete run-around. So I ate the charge. Absolutely the most unprofessional office iv ever been to. When making the appointment a few weeks prior they asked for a 30 dollar copay which I paid. Recently went and arrived tops 5 mins late. Beware of greenhills traffic but once arrived they asked for my insurance card and license. I had my insurance info on me just no actual card. And they refused to accept that and told me that they couldn't fit me in any longer and I would have to reschedule. Told me I would lose the 30 dollar copay and would have to make another 30 dollar copay if I wanted to reschedule. I refused and demanded my money back. They refused to give me my money back.
