On Wednesday night, my baby scratched my eye. Talk about pain. My husband called Brumm for me in…read morethe morning and they got me right in.. I saw Dr Cleaver, who was kind, gentle, and used a program to show me exactly the size and location of the scratches on my eye (there were 2), after he measured them. He then put a contact on my eye to protect it as it healed. Oh, I should mention here the lovely numbing drops they used. Those were fantastic! I ended up calling the office before close because my eye hurt much worse than before I had the contact placed. The tech I talked with asked me if I was using the drops Dr Cleaver gave me - she mentioned 2 drops, but I'd only been given one. She said "the gel drops?" And I said, no. Should I have some? She said no. Turns out, yes, that would have made my experience significantly less painful. I don't wear glasses and therefore have never worn contacts. The next morning I called to be seen early because I was in excruciating pain throughout the night and still that morning. (My appt was at 4) and they got me right in, which I was thankful for yet again! I went to the other location to see Dr Cleaver who was again great, and the tech I saw made the whole experience way more pleasant. Dr. Cleaver said my eye was very dry which was contributing a lot to the pain. He removed the contact, his bedside manner was great especially when I couldn't stop twitching haha. He used a more dull instrument on my eye so he wouldn't poke my eye (big YAY for that) and set up a follow up so I'd be able to see a dr if for any reason my eye wasn't okay. But I canceled because it was. His instructions were great, other than the lack of instruction for the eyeball that had never used a contact before. Oh, and the wait was very long the first time and pretty long the 2nd, which contributes to the star off. But I recommend and would go again without question if needed.

When I reacted to their bullying antics, that is when the gaslighting began. Dr. Lichtenburg is the owner and she is the leader to her minion staff. She allows her "top notch" front office girl, Candy, to get in patients faces with pre-mediated designs on possibly physically harming the patients, she instigates and promotes bullying and Dr Lichtenburg allows grossly over exaggerated situations to occur. I felt threatened in this office. I felt disregarded and there was ZERO accountability from this office or office manager for how their staff mistreats patients. Right, wrong, or indifferent, there has been reasons as to why I've had difficulties with this horrible practice and it all boils down to how staff are lead and their is ZERO positive moral and very poor leadership. The owner should feel ashamed for her behavior. The last time I spoke with the doctor, she called me acting concerned about what had happened the previous day, and then cut me off mid sentence and began bullying me herself. When I hung up on her, she kept calling me back. I finally had to tell her to stop calling because it was beginning to be harassment. I hate to say it but I think my unfair treatment was due to me being Hispanic. Sad but true.

Contrary to other reviews, my experience has been exemplary with every annual visit. Personnel are friendly, competent, and professional with each transaction. Both optometrists explain carefully the results of the eye exam, potential problems observed, and possible solutions to those problems. For comparison purposes, I was sent to the Truhlsen Eye Clinic at UNMC on the recommendation of my physician and experienced the worst possible interaction. No explanation of the exam, no interaction with an optometrist or optician, no results provided - truly a waste of time. EyeQ, on the other hand, was totally professional at every turn. Regarding payment and charges, EyeQ works smoothly with the insurance programs that they are members of, explaining every charge and taking advantage of every savings available. I'm guessing that the problems the other reviews experienced is a combination of wait staff inexperience, miss communication, potential lack of listening by both parties, and anger issues occurring at the front desk. You can bet that if the service provided by EyeQ and its optometrists was not up to COSTCO standards, they would not be in operation at that location. Scam EyeQ Optometry is NOT but if you are looking for thorough, professional eye care then you cannot go wrong with Drs. Astuto and Brammeier.

Was not told they…read moredidn't accept my insurance, in fact before I booked the appt on the phone we even spoke about my insurance and gave them my insurance information which they took down and also charged me a $75 up front fee that would go towards my charges when we got seen. I questioned this and asked what if our insurance covers more than that and they explained I'd be given a credit back if that was the case. Had proof to verify this conversation mind you. The day of our appts we went in and I was charged over $535 for 3 of us for routine exams. Mind you if we went in network, which i was told we were, we'd have an minimum copay for each of us. I tried to explain my experience to the Dr after I was in shock by the amount. I provided her all the details of the pervious conversation in hopes she would make this right. She told me the girl I talked to initally no longer worked there and she 'SHOULD' have told me about being out of network. In the end, all she did was credit me back for the $75 pervious charged that wasnt accounted for when they charged me for the exams and a $80 credit for a dilation charges for my daughters but that is it. In the end I still spent almost $400 just to get our prescriptions renewed that doesn't include contacts or anything. Had they not lied to me about my insurance coverage I obviously would have never booked an appt here. I think they are running a scam and I don't think I'm the only one this has happened to and I'm likely not the last. Would NEVER recommend, not even to my worst enemy. I was robbed and lied to and they had no desire to make it right what so ever because they are running a scam "protected" under the national name of 'Costco.' Brilliant business scheme I suppose but not for the end consumers. Good luck if you decide to book!

Beautiful office, very tech forward, and super lovely staff. From the start, I had a pretty great…read moreexperience at this office. I had to switch from an office I already really loved due to moving so I was nervous. The checkin person was incredibly friendly, the initial person I worked with during my exam was as well, and the doctor was engaging and thorough. I had zero complaints and was ready to leave the office to write this as a five star review.... So why 3 stars? I work in the insurance field. I understand the importance of taking ownership of your own benefits and not relying on a medical office to provide you with the information about what coverage you have. For this reason, I checked my vision benefits before my appointment and knew that I had a $10 co pay for the exam and a $0 copay for my contact lens fit/follow up. I've had the same plan for several years and that's always been what I pay but it's still good to check in case coverage changes. At check in I was offered a $39 photo of my eye in lieu of traditional dilation and I agreed as I hate the idea of getting my eyes dilated. For those doing the math, I'm now up to $49 due for my appointment. At checkout, I was told my total was $153. That's a difference of $104. I paid it and then went to my car to make sure I didn't misread something on my coverage. Nope, $0 exam copay, $10 lens copay.... I go back in to ask the person at check out. She explained to me that I had a "premium" contact lens fitting which is only discounted at 10% per my plan. I did see this on my benefits but have never been charged for a premium fitting so didn't think it applied to me. I'll say this, if I wasn't one to know things about insurance coverage I may have just accepted that as "just the way it is." I could have easily accepted that I got a "premium" fitting because they used extra technology that felt high end. But that's not what premium means. When I asked what the difference is, the person at check out said she's been asked before but doesn't really know. She offered to find out from another person in the back. She was very kind about the whole thing and happily went to ask and brought back a print out explaining the difference. I was told someone would call me because the person she tried to ask wasn't available. There was a lot of vision jargon on the printout that I didn't understand so I had to go home to look up the meanings. Basically it means this.... If you have regular bad vision like not being able to read a street sign far away, you don't need a premium exam. Premium is for premium lenses: astigmatism, multifocal or monovision lenses, post-surgical lenses, etc. I was called the next morning and told that they'd made an error in coding and was overcharged by mistake. They had already initiated the refund to my card for the additional $104 that wasn't truly due. Great! Glad that's squared away. However, my 3 stars still stand. It's 1000% possible that it was an honest mistake. These things happen. It's also possible that it wasn't a mistake and they're up charging for the reasons I stated above. Because if I wasn't me and heard premium exam I might have just agreed to paying it because I could see how the extra technology might make it "premium." Ultimately, I couldn't confidently refer my grandparents to this office without feeling like I needed to check their receipts after every visit.
