I like the feel of a small town provider rather than a large chain that makes you feel like cattle. This place makes you feel welcome and that you are their only patient. The wait time is not long at all and I got in right away. They also are great with answering any questions you have. My contacts took a week and half to come in and before I ordered them they took the time to explain why it takes longer for my Rx to come in. Highly recommend.

First red flag: I was not provided with any sort or receipt or tracking information for my order. Contacted the business a whole month later, 4/27, to be told the order was never placed. They got the order placed, promised a rebate for the inconvenience (never got that), and told me they would rush it and it would arrive in a week. Still no receipt or tracking information. As of today, 5/7, I still have not received my contacts. I find it INCREDIBLY suspicious that any business is able to charge a customer almost $400 without it instantly going towards the order. I am in contact with the Better Business Bureau, despite this business not being accredited by the organization. I can only imagine how many other patients have been taken advantage of under similar circumstances.

After making a few calls (I'm not going to feign having done a great amount of research, it…read moreliterally was just a few calls), I decided America's Best was going to give me the best bang for my buck. Versus getting a single pair of glasses elsewhere for probably 150-170 (including the exam and knowing exactly what frame I wanted), I took AB up on their "Two Pair" deal, where you get two pairs of glasses and get the eye exam free. It's also noteworthy they also had deals where the second frames were also 50% off on top of the free exam, but I'm pretty particualr about what I want on my face... so I just identical pairs. In any case, I ended up getting two pairs of Ray Ban RX5092 's, lenses, and eye exam for $200--- which isn't bad these were among the most expensive frames you can walk out of there with. They advertise that you walk out of there with two pairs for $69 buck including the free eye exam, and the price goes up little by little as you pick out a more expensive frame. They website makes it easy to navigate your options, I highly recommend viewing it prior to going on!

The first guy I worked with was super unprofessional. Kept yawning and seemed like he was "too cool". He didn't explain anything to me, and then all of a sudden, the puff of air was coming at me. Moving onto the doctor. Again, he didn't explain anything to me. He smelled heavily of smoke and went so fast through my exam I wasn't surprised that my glasses seem off. The ladies out front were really nice. But I was so frustrated that everyone kept asking me if I brought my glasses when I told everyone during every step that I don't wear glasses yet and It's my first time getting an eye exam. Did no one right it down on my chart? My glasses seem off and I am just not too thrilled with my overall experience.

We have felt very welcome here, the staff, all the way up to the Dr.'s, have given us time, talk to us openly and never down to us. They have been great while trying to figure out what has caused my son's issues. We don't love driving from Sioux Falls to get this service, but we love every staff member we have worked with here.

But the staff all exhibited outstanding patient care skills that helped me get through them. After reviewing the test results, the doctor was very thorough explaining the results and next steps. Since my primary care physician is also with UNMC, I could see all my test results in my MyChart account, and follow on appointments as well. Overall, I'm very happy that I went to the Truhlsen Eye Institute,
