So spahn and rose opened up here and a couple years ago, I came in and bought one sheet of wood and they cut it how I needed it. About 6 months ago. I wanted a small chunk of wood to for a project I was doing. The gentlemen who answered the phone said we don't do that here. And hung up the phone. It was an older gentlemen. I didn't really think too much of it and I just went withouy doing the project as it was just for fun. Fast forward to a few months ago and I was redoing my couch, giving some life back into it and I measured the seating area of the couch. I asked my husband to call and he was given the same response "We don't do that here" and my husband was going to ask about custom ordering it but as soon as the guy said we dont do that here he hung up the phone. No goodbye or nothing. So I called and said very calmly and nicely that it was very unprofessional to hang up on someone, and he said if someone gives him attitude, he's going to give it back, my husband said he was very kind about it, and I told the gentlemen that even if a customer has an attitude, it is your job to remain calm and not be unprofessional. At this point, I had had enough of his attitude and I asked for his name because I would be making a complaint, and he said I'm going to do to you what I did to him! And he hung up the phone. I did contact someone from their main office, I believe his name was Ryan. He was very apologetic, and did everything he could to fix the problem. He said that he has had things cut many times before, and that their company is always willing to go out of their way to make a customer happy. Side note: The gentlemen who was rude. I do not believe is a good representation of Spahn and Rose and that he was just a bad seed. Ryan went to the Newton store, and cut it for me personally. Unfortunately because of the verbal abuse, I don't want to conduct any business at that location again. I will have to travel about 30 minutes somewhere else, but I don't mind. I am not sure if I would refer someone there again because I don't know if the problem has been fixed.

Located in Waukee's Triangle District, and it is a special visit. Owner Geoff is such a good guy, exudes professionalism and awareness after 30+ years at the store. He has morphed the store into a current venue, handling today's needs. Impressive guy who cares about his customers. But it's Andie the Cat who rules the premises! A cuddly cat who boosts throughout the store, so sweet, and loves to be petted!

She took me back to the right area and even picked them out for me. I forgot they had a minimum ($1) to use a credit card. I had no money with me besides my credit card. They offered me to come back and pay, I was afraid i would forget. I shopped instead. I knew I probably needed more items. When I checked out, the woman asked me if I was going to put the phone holder on my bike now. I said yes, so she followed me out with a screw driver. The screw was too short, so she went in and got a bigger one for me. You don't get service like this anymore.

I've been here several times for pieces and parts for various projects, and they have had my parts on hand. They are conveniently located off the 169/92. They have ample parking with easy access. Their staff has been very helpful. On a recent visit, we were in for some items that we ran short of, and, of course they had enough for us to finish. BUT, more importantly, we had an unusual design that we wanted to implement. I wasn't too sure if the right pieces and parts existed to implement our design. Surprisingly their staff got the visual quickly and was helpful in thinking outside of the box for searching for a solution. This rarely happens in the big box stores! It was very refreshing to talk with a staff that actually has worked on projects. We'll be back!

I love our local True Value store! Once I brought an empty tank for my grill down to get refilled. I stopped in the store first to pick up a couple of things and pay for the tank, but a worker had already spotted the tank in the back of my truck and filled it up for me before I even asked - now, that's service! They have a nice lumber yard and a small repair shop for tools. The greenhouse always has a nice supply of flowers and veggies and trees in the spring and summer seasons. There is also a plentiful supply of items that can be rented - from chairs/tents to tillers and other machinery.

I called her out on the price She went right to her phone to look it up The same time I did. Yea I was right. A few key strokes later And the total was right. So my question is how many folks go through the check out with errors like this? Think about it 1 out of a hundred? That can add up! And all the contractors just trying to get in and out fast so they can get back on the job sites to make cash. They need to have the ai camera scan for item count or the weight system that checks by weight Or have the eye in the sky do the audit On count and total! Or do self checkout like at Sam's Club?
