Here's the revised version with that added naturally at the end: I have to say, I'm surprised this plumber has received so many positive reviews. I will give him credit for responding promptly when I first contacted him and for communicating well before the appointment. Unfortunately, the in-person experience was very different. From the beginning of the visit, he was defensive and unpleasant. At one point, I asked a simple question about why he had run water in a sink with no hot water, and he immediately responded by telling me that he was doing his job and knew how to do his job. I was understandably ruffled by that point, but I kept my voice calm and was never accusatory. I simply asked if we could take the tension down a notch. His response was, "You know how I'm taking it down a notch? I'm leaving," and he abruptly ended the appointment. Several caregivers were present and witnessed the interaction, and they also felt that he had been rude from the beginning. I would not feel comfortable having someone with that demeanor in my home again. At a minimum, the energy was hostile and unprofessional. The whole interaction was honestly just very strange. I generally get along extremely well with service professionals and almost always leave positive reviews, so this is a first for me. . read more

Responsive, great to work with and solved my plumbing issue in no time at all. Was recommended by neighbors and I will recommend.

I was charged $850.00 for the installation of a garbage disposal which I later found out to be excessive . I'm certainly not calling them again for help. read more

Had my first service call today with Van and he was superb. He came within hours of me contacting him and even stopped on the way to pick up needed parts. He did an awesome job, was very attentive to details, and cleaned the work area thoroughly when finished. He's a master plumber who really knows his trade plus his communication skills are excellent. Reasonable pricing. Highly recommended. read more

Van is my "go to" plumber! I don't really think you'll find a more knowledgeable and competent plumber than Van! And on top of that he's a super nice guy and his prices are reasonable. If you're ever looking for a plumber I suggest you look no further than Van! PS during this time of COVID it was reassuring that Van wore a mask & gloves the whole time he was in our home. read more

Van is the most reliable plumber I have ever used. I have had his work in my home for over ten years. He is clean, knowledgeable, and always finds the most cost-effective way to solve my issues. I give him 5 star plus plus plus. read more

I first found Van on Yelp when I decided to change plumbers. I have called him on at least 4 occasions for 4 different plumbing jobs. Every time he has texted or called me back in a timely manner. He is polite, professional, honest and usually is able to show up pretty quickly. So far I have not had anything urgent happen. He has saved me money when I told him what I wanted to do or purchase. He has also explained why I should or should not do or purchase something. He always gives me the best recommendation. There were two times when he could have just taken my money to do something I thought needed to be done, but he didn't. Instead, he told me on one occasion, that I didn't need what I thought I did and on another occasion, he made an adjustment to something and said I didn't need to purchase a new 'whatever.' I wouldn't use anyone else. Plus, he is such a nice guy! read more

One word. WOW. Van is a needle in a haystack in the plumbing industry. I was blown away by his straight forward pricing, kindness, and above all his honesty. None of this is an exaggeration by any means. From here on out the only plumber on my contact list. Also, he came out within 30 minutes on a Sunday! - Abdul read more

Called Van the plumber to fix leaking sink and running toilet. Van was friendly throughout the entire process - from appointment booking to explaining repair options/ pricing. He was efficient and seemingly thorough with his repairs. Prices seemed reasonable for a master plumber. Through my experience with Van, I come to understand why he is very highly recommended on Nextdoor, Yelp, Angies List, every other consumer review site. THANK YOU Van for expert and friendly service. You are our go-to plumber going forward. Grazie Mille ~Gustavo read more

Definitely my first call for ALL plumbing needs! We recently had an outside spigot and pipes replaced. Van scheduled an appointment quickly and showed up on time. He identify the issues with our old spigot and clearly explained the options, risks, and costs associated with replacing spigot and updating outside water lines, which were very outdated. He was able to customize pipes to fit the required space inside and anchored the new spigot to the outside brick wall. Van also had to deal with issues shutting off the water in our house. Our main water shutoff was not working properly, but Van knew alternative ways to shut the water off externally and worked through some of these troubles without hesitation. Van clear takes pride in his craft and does it with a pleasant demeanor. read more

Our daughter was rushed to the emergency room and we had to go babysit out 21 month old granddaughter for a few days. Their kitchen sink was leaking and the water was turned off. She is a teacher and money is tight so they had not fixed it. My wife and I could not live without water in the sink so we called our old friend Van the Plumber who rushed out to help us. It turned out we needed a new faucet and Van changed his schedule around to come back a second time to install the new faucet. He is so good, so responsive and so kind. I could never think of having another plumber touch any of our plumbing needs. Give him a try and you will feel the same way. read more

I found Van on my local Next Door site and have used him twice now. His service is top notch! Wednesday before thanksgiving I called him for a plumbing problem and he even came out early thanksgiving morning to fix it. He is fair in his prices and honest. The first time he came a few months ago it was for a simple toilet leak, but Thanksgiving Day it took him four hours and the work was impeccable. Prices are fair as well! He is highly recommended from our house! read more

Needed to replace a twenty-year-old water heater. Came on time. Worked efficiently. Wouldn't leave until everything checked out. Cleaned up. Fair price. Pleasant to deal with. What more can you say? read more

Van is our hero!! We had a major back up that was coming out of the sink and dishwasher. We had two othercomoanies come out to quote snaking the pipes (Len the Plumber and Roto Rooter). Both were way overpriced and the plumber from Len straight lied to us to upsell services. Luckily we saw Van's truck at another house in our neighborhood and gave him a call. He came over right away after his job and sorted us out. Very honest and reasonably price. Van was super nice, described he situation clearly, and cleaned up during/after the job. I think we've our go-to guy for future plumbing needs. A++ read more

Van was terrific. He took care of replacing our kitchen garbage disposal when the old one broke down. We were impressed that he responded quickly to our call in the evening, quoted us a fair price and that's exactly what he charged, arrived on time, and took excellent protective steps to keep us and him safe during the pandemic (gloves, mask, shoe coverings). Along with his skill, he is a very nice person. We highly recommend him. read more

Terrible, terrible, terrible. If I could leave zero stars I would. I have to call my insurance company after Van basically left a minor job and left us a major one. Came to my house to assess a couple of small issues. Poor communication from the start, which should have been a red flag. Started his visit by telling my wife to wrap a towel around a leak by our water main. Was in a rush to leave the job and 3 floors of house are now flooded, and we are calling our insurance company. Van took no responsibility, and further insulted by saying well at least he didn't charge for the visit. Stay away! read more

Van is a great plumber! I started to do a plumbing job myself, and messed it up. It could have turned into a very expensive job, but Van fixed it in less than an hour, for a reasonable price! I was trying to replace a bathtub drain that was corroded. I was able to loosen it a little with great difficulty, but then it got stuck and wouldn't tighten or loosen. My house is 45 years old, so of course the pipe fittings are not going to come apart easily. Then I tested drain with water and now it leaked a lot, because I had loosened the drain. Van warned me that this could be a major problem. It might require cutting a hole in the dining room ceiling to get to the bottom of the tub. The old pipes might break under too much force. But Van worked on it patiently and in less than an hour he managed to get the old tub drain off and replace it without breaking anything! We were very relieved, and happy to pay his reasonable price. I would definitely call Van again for any plumbing problem, large or small. He can solve tough problems! read more

One of the best experiences I had, using a home contractor professional! My Delta Electric Kitchen Faucet had a connectivity issue interrupting the water flow. I contacted Van The Plumber, and Van communicated with me over the phone, to get an idea of the issue, before arriving, in case he needed parts. Van arrived immediately, on the same day of my call, and quickly assessed the issue as not requiring any extensive labor. With a minor adjustment, Van resolved the problem without requiring tools to take apart my system. He resolved the issue by adjusting electrical circuitry connections within a few minutes, so I wanted to give him an outstanding review of professional performance with an A+ rating and recommendation to Olney neighbors as well as DMV Metro customers. read more

I followed our neighborhood recommendation and hired Van to remove the clog in the sink. He did the job, but he charged $325 for this. It took roughly 30 min and it is a common clog. Google estimation for this job is $110 to $216, depending on the complexity. Our case did not have any complications. I am not sure on what planet this is considered as reasonable. I will not use his service again and I do not recommend him. read more

Van was great. He listened closely as I explained the problem, gave a fair estimate of cost & time to do the repairs, and when he finished he left the area cleaner than when he started. He'll be my first call the next time I need a plumber. read more

Several months ago I realized the shower in my master bath was dripping from the hot-water knob. The handle was moldy, so I threw it out, started using the 3rd-floor shower, and called a guy I know who's a qualified contractor. Long story short, he's as flaky as they come and has never completed the job. I tried to do it myself, but it required a real plumber. The manager at a local plumbing supply store recommended Van, and I'm glad he did. Van was honest, kind, respectful, etc. He gave me a fair price. He showed up early, completed the job, cleaned up after himself, gave clear instructions on what I need to do to follow up, and is an all-around professional. He even wore a Polo shirt with chinos (as opposed to jeans that ride too low). I will definitely call him if I need a plumber in the future. read more
