Instead, I went through Harbor Freight and saw they had a $75 off sale on their little wire-feed Titan Welder. I picked one up, along with an auto-darkening face shield and a spool of wire. After watching a couple of YouTube videos to make sure I knew what I was doing, I was able to do a decent fix. (although a lot of splatters, which some friends have since advised me that I was still going too fast) One caution, the helmet dashboard lit up immediately after the unboxing, so I "assumed" it had batteries installed. My second project, the dashboard did not light, so I opened up the battery case, only to find no batteries had been included. Luckily, no permanent damage to my eyes, but the box or instructions never mentioned that no batteries were included.
