There is a smell so putrid and foul inside that we ate our ice cream and cookies outside in the rain. Initially I gave them the benefit of the doubt, thinking they were just having plumbing issues, but I see this smell is mentioned in reviews going back at least a year. Every inch of this store smells like sewage but also an animal shelter. I am truly perplexed how they are passing inspections. On top of that, the prices are incredibly steep. My friends each paid $8 for their small cup of ice cream. You can get designer ice cream (Jeni's) for less! After about a 5 minute wait, it was our turn to pick out our item. I went with the Nutella Chocolate Chunk and Cookies and Cream Cookies for the outside, and Mud Pie ice cream. I had it all toasted and they used a panini press looking thing that made it perfect! The cookies were the best part and it was a lot, easily sharable if you can find someone who likes the same combo. The staff was friendly, bathrooms clean, and would have been nice to have a self service water station.

Their ice creams are creamy and naturally flavored. I have tried the Brambleberry Crunch, which is one of my favorites. Their Darkest Chocolate ice cream is also delicious and decadent. But the Hibiscus Chili was the most underrated flavor. I think it deserves a lot more hype. The ice cream shop at this location can get very busy, but the service is extremely quick. The team at Jeni's is always patient with me, even when I am confused with all their range of flavors. I particularly love how the shop smells of baked waffle cones.

It's long, it's inevitable, and trying to fight it is a rookie mistake. Because when ice cream is this profoundly good, crowds happen. Step two: Don't panic. The crew behind the counter operates with the high-speed efficiency of a pit crew, yet somehow maintains the absolute patience of saints while you undergo an existential crisis deciding on flavors. My personal blueprint for success was all about contrast. I engineered a double-scoop masterpiece: a heavy, deeply decadent, unapologetic chocolate base, perfectly countered by a lighter, delicate second scoop to balance the universe. It was an elite flavor pivot. Delicious doesn't even cover it. Meanwhile, my wife absolutely devoured her fruit-forward flavors with a speed that felt slightly competitive. Total sensory overload in the best way possible. I'm giving this place a flawless five stars, mostly because I have to, but also because I am currently stalking the freezer aisle of my local Publix like a person possessed, trying to hunt down pints to replicate this high until I can get back to Nashville. I did appreciate they gave me 2 extra cups so I was able to easily divide it for my 3 kids. The ice cream itself was fine, but nothing particularly memorable. Unfortunately, there was a noticeable rancid oil smell inside the shop, which detracted from the experience. There is plenty of indoor seating, but the space lacks much ambiance or character. On a nice day, the outdoor area is definitely the better option. One downside is parking. Much of the street parking in 12 South has recently been changed to permit-only, which is a huge bummer. There are a few spots directly in front of the shop, but your best bet is probably parking near Sevier Park and walking over. Overall, it was okay, but given the price and the experience, I wouldn't go out of my way to return.

While a friend was in town and on the 4th of July where the area was far less busy we made the trip over there! The seasonal ice cream was peach - which is one of my favorite summer flavors! I thought the ice cream was good, I really loved the pickle dip for the fries on the side, and I got just the plain salted fries which were also good. However, as a place that does just fries and ice cream I expected the fries to be more than just good. Maybe getting a flavor would have improved them but I think the basic fry should stand out on its own. We had arrived shortly after opening the the grease from the fryer kinda filled the space as well, which wasn't the most appetizing smell but it's hard with a mostly open kitchen. The employees were really kind and the food came out quickly! I enjoyed my experience overall, but I think I had bigger expectations for the fries in my head than in reality.
