Most…read moreof the visit involves getting massaged with a massager (just like the one I have since purchased at Costco), and also having tight muscles rubbed hard with a large metal popsicle stick. Based on the per visit price he makes a lot more than a surgeon, This always seemed very excessive to me, but when you're desperate you pay up if you can afford to. I assume most chiropractic patients are hurting, and pretty desperate for solutions. I just can't agree with the cost. So did he fix me? NO , but the massages were helpful at the time. Many of his reviews indicate very long term clients. Did anyone actually get cured or just get caught in the long term care program? Buyer beware is my free advice. Time is itself a great healer.

He's the best! He makes your health his number one priority…read more I'd been to several other chiros who never resolved my problems. Then I read about the Atlas Chiro method and Dr. Alex and it was a game changer! Had several issues with my neck, shoulders, leg and saw him for about six months. Over time my issues started to dissolve with regular Atlas and other Chiro adjustments. He always explained to me reasons why the issues were happening, gave me exercises to help improve my posture and muscle strength at home and suggested videos that would also help. With my own research in hand, during my visits we'd discuss other alternative remedies to help my healing along which he was very open to. He sees the whole body as an integrative system so anything outside of chiropractic he also embraces like cranial sacral, reiki, qi gong, meditation, yoga, diet changes, etc anything that can help the body to heal and get back into balance. I always looked forward to our discussions, his sense of humor and ease. His pet corgi Olive also made visiting a pure joy. Because I've been doing so well, even though my visits have decreased he still recommends doing certain exercises, yoga, etc to keep my body in optimal health. I highly, highly recommend Dr. Alex Halstead in Wilmette, Chicago.

Life-Changing Experience with Dr. Josh: A Must-Read for Those Seeking True Relief…read more I rarely leave reviews, but Dr. Josh has truly changed my life, and I feel compelled to share my experience. After struggling with spina bifida and a self-induced spinal fusion for 20 years, along with countless physical therapy sessions, muscle relaxers, painkillers, and various back massage devices, I finally found relief with Dr. Josh. In just one week, he provided an honest diagnosis of my core issue, which surprisingly had little to do with my back. He identified the root causes related to my mouth breathing and an old ankle injury, simply by observing how I sit. I am now in my third month with Dr. Josh, and for the past 10 out of 12 weeks, I haven't even thought about my back pain. His targeted exercises have made a genuine, visible difference within days. Dr. Josh's understanding of the human body's core issues and his ability to provide precise, effective exercises is unparalleled. If he told me to run through a wall, I would do it without hesitation (of course, using the proper techniques he taught me). I highly recommend Dr. Josh to anyone seeking real, lasting relief. This review is for Dr. Josh Akin (also, Chicago Chiropractic moved its Northfield office to 562…read moreGreen Bay in Kenilworth). I'll start by saying over the past decade, I've been to a few chiropractors with limited benefit and after the first couple appointments, would dread going and wasting the time/money, feeling fairly sure the "treatment" was getting me nowhere. The difference can be summed up by the fact that I look forward to appointments w/ Dr. Akin. I strained my back showing snow in Feb 2021, saw a couple of chiros, a couple PTs, had X-rays and an MRI -- nothing was helping. I coincidentally heard about Dr. Akin from a friend of a friend and started w/ him in March 2022. Our first appointment was enlightening: So many things not even related to my back that he picked up on that had been causing mild discomfort for years; for me, a locked up ankle that was causing tightness on that same hip and pain in the opposite heel and knee. A lot of drs will tell you low back pain is a result of a weak core. While that's true, Dr. Akin's approach to building the core is unlike anything I've done or seen on websites, social media/bloggers, etc. If you've been struggling with back pain for a while and the big box chiros/sport med practices aren't getting you anywhere, you owe it to yourself to call Chicago Chiropractic.

My first visit, Mary got rid of a chronic lump in the throat that happened whenever I experienced stress at work. She's treated my back pain, headaches, eye strain, and other issues linked with long-term fatigue and stress, helping me to find and relieve the long-term cramps by which various parts of the body responded to graduate school. After an average session with her, the results are clear and drastic: for instance, after a session on my hips and lower back, I was able to not only touch my toes but also to cover my entire hands with my feet. I see her once a month as a general checkup, and after six months of treatment, I find that I breathe, sit, and sleep far more easily than before treatment. Zero balancing is a form of body-work that particularly treats the joints, spine, and cranium. It draws on practices found in cranio-sacral therapy, acupressure, and feldenkrais technique to release centers of tension in the body by support, gentle movement, and gentle pressure. The effects go far deeper than massage in terms of relaxation, back pain, joint pain, stress, and bodily awareness. If I had a piece of advice for potential clients, it's only this: the more closely one observes one's embodied states and the physical dimension of stress, the further the treatment goes towards long-term amelioration. The partners at Zero Balancing Wilmette are nationally known within their field, and offer classes which bodyworkers around the country come to attend. I have no experience with these classes myself, but recognize the privilege of seeing a practitioner so distinguished in her field.
