She sat down with us the first time we met to get to know us, explain the IVF process, make a plan with us, and answer any of our questions. She was there with us every step of the way, and she was always available to call or text on her cell phone with any questions we had, which always helped put me at ease. Dr. Borkowski made me feel so much more positive and hopeful during this experience than I would have with any other doctor. Before every procedure during the IVF process, Dr. Borkowski came to talk to us to ask if we had any questions and to explain what was going to happen during the procedure. Not only is Dr. Borkowski an amazing doctor, but the entire team at Northshore Fertility is also amazing. Jennifer is kind, attentive, and professional. She was always available to answer my questions. Lettie is always warm and welcoming. Venus is very nice and approachable. Everyone at the office makes you feel like you belong there and is easy to talk to. Without Dr. Borkowski and the amazing team at Northshore Fertility, my husband and I would not be expecting our first baby this June! A crushing and heartbreaking experience from a Dr we saw (only through zoom, and charged $200 each time just to tell us what was happing next in a 5 minute meeting) a couple of times in our 2 year experience with them. This place just wants their money and I will be contacting my lawyer as everywhere else we went couldn't figure out why they wouldn't implant embryo.

I also worked closely with nurse Nicole who drew my blood at least 3 times a week. She often shared her personal stories with me to calm my nerves when drawing blood. Our sonographer Anne was also very kind. She answered all of my husband's 100 questions and did her best to explain things to me in language I would understand. The front desk women were very accommodating in making sure I got all my appointments in on time. I am a teacher so my availability was very limited. She made sure to squeeze me in in the morning on my way to school and did their best to get me out of there as quick as possible. When we found out we were pregnant with twins, we were very excited to share our news with the staff. I had no qualms with FCI and am so thankful for all that they have done for my family of now 4 (twins!).

The resident I was unfortunate enough to work with, Nicole Michael, was also abysmal but I'll give her a pass because I was a resident at one point in my career. Apparently questions are not welcomed by Mary Conte. She insisted I had a UTI when every Urine analysis and culture came back negative for uti pathogens. Did she follow up with additional testing to figure out why there's blood in my urine? Or advise me on how to move forward? Nope. Turns out I had massive kidney stones in both kidneys which a month later I woke up in immense pain and it induced early labor. If she had done additional testing and follow ups, I could've been referred to a urologist and developed a plan. Just absolute sub par care and according to the nurses at Evanston, they can't stand Conte either. I hope Evanston HR sees this and acts accordingly. Mary Conte is the reason I and my entire family have switched from this OB practice to Advocate.

Recently at my annual appointment I was waiting to use the restroom which faces the support staff cubicles. The wait was rather long as there is only one restroom. I had the "privilege" of overhearing how they feel about their clients. "Oh, I hate the perimenopause ones- IM FAT AND HAVE SYMPTOMS BUT I DONT WANT TO GO ON MEDICATION AND GAIN MORE WEIGHT". "THE NEWBIE GYNES ARE SO CUTE WITH THEIR STIs." I was stunned. I went to the restroom, came out, and Dr. Plawyer's nurse was waiting for me. I told her of the incident and she said "I'm sorry to hear that" and then went over my med list and medical history while I'm on the verge of tears. I finally stood up and said "I'm leaving." I did receive a voicemail apologizing and saying it was addressed. However, as a nurse for the past 10 years I understand on a deeper level that the comfort they felt talking about patients at work indicates a culture of not respecting their patients. When we go to the doc we want to feel heard, be taken seriously, and be met with empathy and assistance. I no longer believe this happens at this clinic. Find a clinic that doesn't mock their patients.

Right from the start Dr. Coulam was open and honest with all of her assessments which she clearly articulated for us. While we had several setbacks along the way, those only made Dr. Coulam more motivated to find a solution for us (which thankfully she was successful with!). We know most doctors would not go through the lengths that Dr. Coulam did for us. When faced with each new challenge Dr. Coulam would reassess the situation as well discuss protocol options with all of her colleagues within the practice as well as externally. For example, after several frustrating rounds after our first child, Dr. Coulam began to research several new experimental options, this drove her to consult with doctors in Spain, Italy and France. Not only did she present us with all of our options but also provided the research behind these options so that we were able to make an informed decision that we were most comfortable with. She would take the time to speak with us and answer all of our questions, her calming demeanor was very welcomed in these times. We also have a deep gratitude to our amazing nurse Tracey. Over the years that we were working with RMI we got to know her extremely well and she was always encouraging, helpful, thoughtful and readily available on the phone or email (no matter how silly our questions may have been). She is compassionate and caring during a time that was full of emotions. We highly recommend Dr. Coulam and nurse Tracey if you are seeking help in starting your family.

This was the best doctor referral I have ever had. Miracles really do happen here. The staff here is one of a kind. The office wait was hardly ever experienced, our tests results were shared with us in a timely manner, and they made the infertility experience easier for us. Since fertility treatments were too expensive and my concurrent miscarriages were devastating we finally decided it was time to stop trying for another child. But my sister tells me of a friend she went to school with, who just moved back to the city. And that's when I met Dr. Merkel and trying for baby #2 commenced. She is amazing, smart, and ready to listen. When I thought all hope was lost she made me comfortable and gave me confidence in my fertility journey to try for a second child. After I completed my session with her, which for my husband and I is affordable and at the same time it was holistic. I thought it would take many months or even a year to get pregnant and/or not even get pregnant. I was just happy with how I was feeling and how well my body took to Mercier therapy. She made me comfortable and helped me feel amazing no matter the outcome. After 2 months I got pregnant, and throughout my pregnancy I had support with Dr. Brooke using acupuncture. I am pleased to say I have a healthy baby boy! To say I am beyond thrilled is an understatement. I found a doctor who not only helped me be the healthiest I have ever been, but she helped me achieve my dream. I owe it to Dr. Brook who understood, listened, and guided me to get through my pains from the past.
