I am writing to say that my experience and opinion of SPH has been extremely positive. Dr Parks, the medical director, has been my primary doctor for two years. She has provided me with nothing but excellent quality and compassionate care In helping me deal with, and recover from, a complex condition. Besides Dr Parks, every single member of the Synergy Team that I have dealt with has been, in my opinion, extremely competent, efficient, friendly, and responsive. In summary, the whole place is a class act, and I am receiving the best medical care that I ever have in my life.

I did not have a good experience in this program. It was like pulling teeth to try and meet with…read morethe nurse practitioner, in fact I was only seen once in the 9 months that I attended. Also my clinician called DCF and they told her that there was no reason for them to get involved and open a case. I then had a relapse - after unsuccessfully trying to get in touch with the NP which the clinician had suggested as she felt that I was depressed. After I relapsed, I just needed a break and I told them so. Well they went ahead and called DCF again. I went to this program willingly because I wanted and needed the help for my problem with alcohol and instead I felt like I just was getting kicked when I was already down. I just don't understand why they are so adamant about getting DCF involved. I have a wonderful relationship with my child and anyone who knows me know that. I have been sober since my relapse as I found better help elsewhere.

I ended the relationship because of repeated boundary issues. She shared personal details about her husband, her son, her insecurities, and her travel plans while I clearly did not care. These disclosures did not support my treatment. Ethical guidelines from APA and NASW state that self disclosure should stay limited and serve the client. She also brought up her age often. She spoke about feeling older in a way that made me feel guilty for being younger, showing me her belly fat after pregnancy, which I could not relate to (I'm 28). This was not my role to manage. Therapists are expected to keep their personal insecurities separate from client work. I raised concerns during treatment. I asked her to stop laughing at my jokes after I fired her. She listened but continued. She made a joke about my shoplifting. I told her I did not find it funny. This was not respectful of my request or my history, especially when admitting and deal with something I could get criminally charged with. Almost as if she was inhibiting my behavior. She often spoke to me like a friend instead of a licensed professional. I needed structure and focus on my goals. Instead, I got casual interactions that made it hard to trust the process. I fired her for a second time after these issues continued. My experience shows a pattern of weak boundaries and poor respect for client feedback. I want other clients to know this before starting treatment.

She has changed the way that I look at life. I have seen many therapists in my life. Stephanie is the first person to make me laugh and cry all in the same session. She has pushed me out of my comfort zone in the most caring way possible. She always has my best interest in mind. I would not be able to accomplish any of the tasks that I have if it were not for her. Stephanie understands the importance of listening to her client and, more impressively, when to interject her thoughts. I don't always agree with what she is saying at that exact moment but, I always come back to the idea a day or two later to think about it more. Her suggestions are thought provoking. They challenge you to face a problem head on in ways that you would never have imagined to do before. She goes above and beyond the call of duty. Badly mismanaged practice…read more Over six weeks of calling multiple times a day and NEVER getting the courtesy of an answer. My doctor seemed fine but when there was a snafu with getting the prescription approved, no one got back to me. Not on the phone, not on Patient Gateway. Didn't get back to the pharmacist at CVS either. This went on for six weeks. Finally got Patient and Family Relations involved. Who said it was "taken care of." Well, yes, Brigham got the approval, then cancelled the prescription. Then someone called in the prescription to a compounding pharmacy (which didn't stock the medication) 30 miles away. Was that some kind of weird revenge because I dared to complain? I guess I'll never know because it's not like they're going to return my calls. But the bill for the visit? Not one second's delay in presenting that.

Dr. McLaughlin was supposed to biopsy a newly diagnosed node on the isthmus of my thyroid. She carelessy failed to refer to her own notes following the phone call in which she informed me of the new diagnosis and discussed the biopsy. This is inexcusable.

I don't understand how so many people complain about having to wait a little longer to be seen when…read moreonce they are in with her she isn't pushing you out the door. I have found that the Dr's who run behind are usually the ones who give the patient the time they need. There are Dr's who also are behind and rush you out without a proper visit. I saw Dr McLaughlin about 5-6 yrs ago and I was having a very difficult time finding the cause of my extreme distress and she treated me better than most Dr's. She did an adrenal stimulation test 4 me that confirmed I low levels and poor response when the body needs it. She even monitored other hormone levels I was using replacement therapy for and when I had missed a few doses not thinking it would make a difference so quickly the Dr sent me a message informing me I dropped below and needed to not miss any doses. I spent yrs looking for help prior to this and a PCP told me it was just anxiety and got mad when I told him it is much more than anxiety. He put in my Records that I refused to accept his diagnosis that it was depression / anxiety and that's what Drs saw every time I sought help. I had reached desperation and went to the ER and the resident Dr was asking me all kinds of ?s looking for an answer until the head Dr came in and said he has a history of this and won't treat his depression anxiety and told me to leave. I was very lucky to have found an outside doctor Dr Bingham who at times spent over an hour w me. He found I had toxic levels of copper in me, that I had complex sleep apnea both kinds, found I had the lowest Testosterone levels he had ever seen, serious gut issues and an infection caused by antibiotics killing off all the good stuff resulting in C-Diff infection that can be life threatening, and other issues. Unfortunately he Retired. My currant PCP told me Testosterone was only for married men having trouble getting their wives pregnant. Saw him 2 weeks after the ER visit and he had already decided he was going to start antidepressants and when I tried to explain it was much more than that I got no help after barely 15min w him his nurse poked her head in and said next patient is waiting so that was that only to find out later he charged my insurance and sent me a Bill for 3 Hundred dollars claiming I owed for 2 visits because we didn't finish on time. What can you do in 15 minutes w a Dr after my temp and blood pressure were taken she said the Dr will be right in as I sat there for 10 more min. He must charge 300.00 for 30min and 600.00 for mine w no help. It really is a battle trying to get help. Good Luck to All looking for help.

How do you describe an institution that doesn't say "No" to kids in need? The answer is that words…read morecould never do FHFC (Franciscan Hospital for Children) justice. It doesn't matter the illness, disease, disability or difficulty to FHFC. They endeavor 24 hours a day 365 days a year to improve the lives, the quality of lives of their patients and their families. FHFC operates in the shadow of much more famous local institutions....Children's Hospital, Dana Farber, The Jimmy Fund. They do it from some non descript buildings in Brighton, MA. Non Descript from the Outside, only! Inside small and big miracles happen daily. FHFC first came to our attention when our prematurely born infant was ready, after 5 months to leave the NICU at Beth Israel Hospital. Our son, a true miracle of love, care, science and modern medicine, w/ a healthy dose of luck, and good karma, and lots of prayers thrown in, survived being born at 1 1/2 lbs, 2 1/2 mos. early. Four months later it became clear he was outgrowing the NICU. Still affected by his Chronic Lung Disease, aka CLD, Abe was ready for a "stepdown" unit. There are really only two choices in Boston, Spaulding Rehab, and FHFC. Both are fine institutions, but FHFC is focused solely on children. This made our decision easy. Our son now almost 5 mos. old had grown to 10lbs. He was still on oxygen requiring a nasal cannula. Our son spent another 4 mos. at FHFC, growing and being weaned off of oxygen. The staff and services were great. Our son thrived with his care, therapies, and the overabundance of love and affection that is part of the "soft side" of the FHFC experience. Four months after arriving our son was now 15 lbs and ready to come home. He came home on Halloween, 3 yrs ago this month. He needed oxygen at home for another couple of months, but by January 2011, on his 1 yr birthday, he came off oxygen. 3 Months later our son went back to FHFC for Medical Daycare. The Medical daycare staff took to our son w/ the same kind of love, affection, that is prevalent throughout FHFC. He has been attending Medical Daycare since. The difference is that he is now almost 4, attends the pre school in our town, is a happy, healthy, crazy about his Boston sports teams little boy, w/ boundless energy, an inquisitive mind, and a terrific young intellect. Part of his love of learning, of music, his skills interacting with others were nurtured by FHFC and the Medical Daycare team. We are truly grateful. Our son is a little miracle, a "mitzvah" a blessing to us and all who know him, we will ever be grateful to the staff, clinicians, doctors, nurses, teachers, therapists and caregivers at FHFC. This place is the real deal! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

The staff in CBAT are so very clearly not listened to, overworked, and underpaid. This is…read moreabsolutely insane that the staff still do an amazing job under these working conditions. The snacks were never restocked, they were dealing with code yellows while understaffed, and when the staff ask to buy new supplies for the kids, its takes so much time to deliver or they just get completely ghosted! Again, the staff is amazing but management could use a lot of work. My Childs favorite staff were, Mandy, Gio, and Abby. Do better!!
