Love this place! The employees are so thorough and really take good care of you here. I drive 2-3,000 miles a month, so I get a LOT of oil changes and just love Valvoline as there are always coupons online, and the staff are always so dependable and make sure they show you that you are indeed topped off on oil before you drive off. I like how they check all my lights are working as well as filling all fluids. I feel safe on the road so much in great part to the hard work of all the staff at Valvoline, and so appreciate them! read more

So I always come here for an oil change and don't mind the interaction with the employees. This kid who helped me , once I was in the bay, kind of annoyed me. When I turned off my car he said, can you put your keys on the dash bro. First of all, I'm NOT his bro. I don't mind being called sir or explain why you asked me to put my keys in the dash....bro! You will wait over an hour to get your oil changed here, even though they advertise 15 minute drive-through. This is because they have only two bays (that you can't back out of) and they shamelessly try to sell people additional services, even though they know you've waited an hour and the people behind you must wait longer. They need to create a dedicated express lane just for oil changes and no other "extras". It's not "first come, first serve" like they say. They tell you which lane to get in, and if someone in that lane gets additional services, you will watch multiple cars who arrived after you get served first. read more

They're very friendly here, but it always takes about an hour to 90 minutes or more in my experience. I also don't like that they don't take you in order of arrival- I'll been in one lane that moves slower than the other and cars that came 2-3 cars after me are serviced and out of there before me. I wish they would have a system to service your car in order of arrival- not just luck of the lane you pick- especially on lunch break when you're racing the clock with an hour. Their prices have gone up each visit, and less is included. Today I was charged extra for having my Coolant topped off which used to be included. In my visit today, they confirmed they topped off my wiper fluid and I even asked again to make sure they did- I pulled out and went to use it and they had not done it. I immediately called and told them, they said to come back but I said I can't wait in another hour long line- they transferred my call and now I'm on a 10 minute hold so they can figure out what to do. There is no excuse for this, how could they miss a basic thing and confirm multiple times it was completed? I will not be returning. The incompetence is unacceptable. read more

The beautiful girl in the starting was so kind and helpful and kept saying " I got you" and honestly, I feel like she did lol. The guys were looking like they enjoyed their job. Your supposed to go there and wait behind a bunch of cars ahead of you, till run out of time and have to wiggle out of line and get back to your life. Never thrusting about they big logo 15min oil changed, they make me wait over 40min on line waiting without any information , they have two lines and both was very slow, the most annoying is that they have around 6-8 people working and just chatting and playing around, one of them did jumped between oil hose, really? I was pretty amazed by the friendly, honest service I found here. I came in for a power steering flush because my power steering system was whining. They discovered that my power steering reservoir was empty, so instead of charging me $99 for the full service, they filled the power steering reservoir, and didn't charge me a cent. They could easily have charged me for the service. Very impressed. Will be back! read more

I was so impressed I thought that this would've been a bad or OK. Experience in. It was great. The people were so friendly. They were so nice to my dog and I have my dog with me. It was quick I was out of there within under an hour, I would always love to come back. The only part I didn't like was of course the price I didn't think they'd be that much, but oh well. read more

My daughter brought in our Honda for an oil change. The service workers convinced her that she should also get a tire rotation. Everything was find until about a month later when the car started violently knocking when decelerating on the freeway. We took the car to the Honda dealer and we were told that the left front wheel had been installed wrong with a stripped lung bolt and the wheel not seated correctly. This caused an immediate safety hazard and the car was no longer safe to drive. We called the Valvoline in Soquel and they assured us that they would pay for the cost of the repairs. The Honda repair folks spoke with the Valvoline Representative and gave them the estimate of $2,000 and everything sounded ok, "no problem" they said. Four days later the parts arrived and the car was ready to go a 1 PM. Valvoline was called several times only to find out that the Manager's Manager had to approve the bill before the payment could be made. The Manager's Manager was gone for the day so we are on hold until tomorrow. We are then told that approval of the payment would be up to the Manager's Manager and that Valvoline may not pay the bill since we didn't bring the car back to Valvoline before taking it to the Honda Dealer. It seems to me that Valvoline should be restricted to only providing oil changes since poorly done tire rotations can cause safety concerns. read more

They charged me for my selection of full synthetic I watched them pump in regular, non synthetic oil I pointed out that they put in the wrong oil. The tech verified it by watching a camera I assume. He disappeared in the back for about three minutes and came back and said you're right. Then proceeded to "falsely" put in the only partially synthetic oil, when I paid for full synthetic. I say "falsely" because they didn't drain the incorrect oil out of the vehicle, placed the still wrong oil pump "partially synthetic" in the engine without ever pulling the trigger to pump it. Just held it there without pulling the pump. Looked at me awkwardly after half the time it took to pump the first batch of wrong oil and said, you're all good man! I know synthetic oil doesn't do much or stop your oil from getting dirty but I wanted better oil in my vehicle. Pretty brazen tactics to significantly up charge clients without providing the product they are paying for. People should pay attention if they come here. I can't imagine how many people they've done this to. I paid the 150+ for the oil change just to see if they had the morality to continue to charge me for what they knew they were doing was wrong. read more

This is a great place to come and get your oil changed! It's your typical drive up in an out type of place. Their prices seem a bit higher than other spots around the area who do oil changes. They are incredibly thorough and check lots of things besides the oil. They often do try and upsell you to have you purchase more than just an oil change, but I always just let them know I'm only here for an oil change, and they are good about accepting that and getting the job done. It did feel like the staff were a bit more customer service oriented with the pervious owners. For instance they would offer water and newspapers while you were waiting, ect. The staff are always very nice! I appreciate when they check with me about things rather than assuming I know nothing. I noticed that was a great feeling last time I went. It is down a steep driveway so you have to be prepared to be 'trapped in'. Once you drive down, the only way through is by getting the service and driving out that way so I highly suggest setting aside a good amount of time and being prepared to wait without being able to leave. They are correct that it only takes about 15 minutes but that's once they are working on your car. If there are just 2 cars ahead of you it can take a while! Most times I wait about 40 minutes. With the driveway and time it takes, I don't know there would be an easy fix to that. read more

Usually very good. But lately they've lost a star. I've been bringing all of my vehicles to this location since before they switched over to Valvoline. The service has improved under the Valvoline brand and they usually provide top-shelf service. That said, we've recently experienced some slacking in the customer care, so I called to follow up on some aspects that were troubling. I spoke to a guy ("Jose" or "Juan"?) who, when asked if he was the manager said "Well, I'm the manager right now", which didn't instill much confidence. He was polite, for the most part, but he kept putting me on mute, and on hold without telling me, and I couldn't help but feel that he wasn't interested in what I had to say. I hope this isn't the new normal at this Valvoline location. It was nice to feel good about referring friends and co-workers to this location. But if they're going to half-ass it, there are plenty of other places to get oil service. I'll give them another shot and will update this review if things return to normal in the future. read more

Then I was greeted by his super friendly co-worker Josmar while Ty did my oil change. You stay in your car the whole time. Josmar also changed my windshield wipers with no issues. Why 5 stars? These 2 guys were so kind and appreciated my business...even at 7am, No attitudes. I was hesitant to go here but I knew I had to because I can never go back to Ocean Honda. ABOVE & BEYOND! You guys. Not only was my service top-notch and relaxed (Louie is so personable!) but I have to give a shout to Manager Tanner and tech Juan. Here's what happened: I left and my gas pedal seemed sluggish. I tried to turn around in the Sutter parking lot but ultimately I became stranded. My car just wouldn't GO. What the heck?! I called the shop and asked what could have happened; what could I do...? Tanner and Juan drove over in their personal cars and worked together to get me back on the road. You guys! They left the shop! For me! An average customer! I was nearly in tears when I drove away. I was already a faithful customer--as long as Tanner runs this shop, that's where I will go. I'm glad the other place with great reviews (Santa Cruz Tire and Auto Care over on Soquel Ave) said I'd have to drop off my car and LEAVE IT ALL DAY (no kidding. it's just an oil change. It's not that serious) were too slammed to fit me in, so I did another search on Yelp and found these guys. You can stay in your car the whole time while they check everything: front and back lights, battery, fluids, etc. They saw that I had a back tail light out and replaced it right there. I was in and out in about 20. And, I got to use a 20% off coupon offered here on Yelp. A+ experience all around. Beats Jiffy Lube any day! read more

2nd time there for an oil change and it went smooth and took about 20ish min to get started. I was car 2 in line and in the pouring rain. I found their list of prices very normal -average prices for synthetic oil change and you do not have to get the Extra options they show you a list on screen. I felt no pressure and I found them to be honest and thorough. I will try again for sure. I've been a regular customer for almost a decade now - mostly having gone to the one in Rosemead, and I'm finding them to be consistent, professional, straightforward, fast, hassle-free, and top-notch in quality. It's great to be able to find such excellent, consistent service between such locations! That shows that there is a high standard that must be met as a part of their QC. As an earlier reviewer noted, this isn't super cheap -- but it definitely is fast compared to waiting all morning at the dealership, or all day to pick up the vehicle from a trusted indy mechanic. It has always bugged me that you can make an appointment with SC Toyota for 7:45 a. m., but that's not the appointment for the work, it's the appointment to drop off. You could still wait for several hours to get done. Wha? None of that here: you pull up, a friendly guy takes your "order" and then after a short wait, the mechanics team up to get your oil changed fast. I watched closely to see if they had the right kind of filter element, and they did. The woman who took the payment was also friendly and professional. Efficient, personable service is getting rare enough that this place definitely deserves 5 stars. read more
